Description
Old farmhouse, lovingly renovated inside, with corners and edges. On the ground floor is the living room, dining room and kitchen. The bathroom is also in the basement. It has a ground-level shower, washbasin and toilet. There is also a washing machine and a dryer. On the upper floor you enter the 3 bedrooms through a spacious hallway. Our tree room is a bedroom with a double bed and an adjoining balcony with seating. The green room, with a queen-size bed, has a small table and two chairs. Our third room, the blue room, is furnished with two single beds which can quickly be made into a double bed if required. In this room there is also the possibility to add a folding bed. The dining room and kitchen are heated with a pellet stove which is easy to use. The living room has a wood stove which creates a warm and pleasant atmosphere. In the bedrooms there is an electric heater which can be used if necessary. Besides the balcony on the upper floor, which is equipped with a table and four chairs, there is also the possibility to use the bench in front of the house. A seating area right next to the kitchen in a small courtyard is often used for breakfast in the summer. In the evening, the place where there is also a barbecue invites to a cosy get-together. The large courtyard in front of the house offers parking for 2-3 Our farmhouse has a Welan connection that may be used. The old farmhouse has partly still low rooms which exercise a completely own charm and invite to feel well.
The staircase with its wooden steps and the tree motif on the wall supports this impression.
Those who do not value luxury but cosiness will feel at home here.

The village of Bachem is a district of Losheim am See and is located in the northern Saarland between Mettlach, Merzig and Losheim. The village, on the edge of the low mountain range Schwarzwälder-Hochwald, near the border triangle of Germany - France - Luxembourg, is part of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. So close to the border, the Saarland has a very special flair.
There are many excellent hiking trails and cycle paths in this densely wooded landscape. Water rats of all kinds get their money's worth at the reservoir to which Losheim owes its name. Here you can go hiking, fishing, boating, swimming, cycling, experience culture and nature.
Saarland cuisine is also a delight, probably thanks to its proximity to France. Bachem is a rural village with 1600 inhabitants. You can still buy everything you need for your daily needs here. In the village there is a butcher, a bakery, a bakery shop, a Sparkasse branch, a Volksbank branch, a restaurant. Bachem also has good public transport connections. It is very conveniently located. All larger towns such as Merzig, Losheim, Mettlach, but also Trier, Saarlouis and Saarbrücken can be reached quickly and easily. The nearby town of Merzig (7 km away) has a railway station with good train connections. Merzig also has a motorway connection. From Bachem, both Merzig and Losheim are easy to reach by public transport.

From Losheim/Bachem it is not far to Trier, the oldest city of Roman origin in Germany. A city that has a very special charm
The motorway connection to Merzig is also not far away, leading to Saarbrücken, the state capital. On the way there, you will pass Saarlouis, a former French garrison town with the "casemates", former town fortification walls in which there are now several restaurants. Saarlouis is worth a visit, especially on warm summer evenings when the old town pulsates with life.

In Losheim, the neighbouring village of Bachem, there is the "Staussee", which invites you to swim and go boating. In the summer months, many events take place here at the lake: "Klassik am See", a concert on the open-air stage that attracts many visitors every year
The district of Merzig-Wader lies in the border triangle, where Luxenburg, France and Germany meet. France and Germany meet, which gives our region its very own mentality, open-hearted people who know how to celebrate. The landscape of our Saarland is very varied, with many hiking trails criss-crossing the densely wooded countryside; despite industry, many regions have remained rural. The Saarland is worth a visit.

Small farmhouse in the beautiful Saarland
We had a lovely weekend in the Kauzennest. The house is well equipped and cosy. We will be happy to come back.
