Description
A picturesque, over 150-year-old farmhouse (built in 1859). The house is situated on the Ottenstein plateau above the Weserbergland, between the Weserbergland Nature Park and the Solling Nature Park. 12 km from Bad Pyrmont, 14 km from Bodenwerder on the Weser, 21 km from Hameln. The hilly surroundings invite you to go for long walks and hikes.
The Seminarhaus am Steinkreis is a lovingly restored listed farm. During the construction of the entire property (unfortunately neither the outside nor the inside is handicapped accessible!), our guiding principles were originality and aesthetics as well as the integration of ancient symbolism and rituals.
This house and its surroundings are ideally suited for your short holiday, as a short break from everyday life, as well as a retreat for seminars and group work in small groups of max. 8 people. We are also happy to rent out our new studio to an artist as a work and/or exhibition space
We look forward to your enquiry and your visit!

Holiday and seminar house on the Ottenstein plateau ....
" ... with stones fallen from the sky "
Growing up as a boy from Oldenburg in the 1950s, we became familiar with the names of Germanic peoples at an early age through school and scouts (Harlingerstraße Catholic Primary School, Gotenstraße, Chaukenstraße, Friesenstraße, Sachsenstraße, Frankenstraße and Cheruskerweg). Their impressive megalithic structures made of erratic blocks, the huge stones transported and left behind by glaciers during the Ice Age and now distinctive features of our landscape, were found in smaller versions in our garden in Donnerschwee and we found them everywhere in the southern Oldenburg area on our excursions, especially "on the classic square mile of German prehistory" between Ahlhorn and Visbek, with offering tables and "petrified bride" from the local legends. In addition, we were taught about "local history" using Germanic finds from the Oldenburg moors as exhibits in the local museum.
So it made sense, with the purchase of a 150-year-old farm in the ancient cultural landscape of the Weserbergland, to also deal with its prehistory. And in preparation for 2009, the festivities marking the 2000th anniversary of the Varus Battle, and in the vicinity of the former pagan cult site of the ancient Germanic tribes and one of Germany's outstanding natural sights, the Externsteine, the idea of reconstructions of the barrows, Stone circle, cult figures, rune stone, "Steinmännchen" and larger-than-life wooden figures was born and the significance of the erratic boulder in our lives and its metaphorical use as a foundation stone, gravestone and memorial stone, and its hardness, strength and solidity of stones was also taken up in metaphorical language.
A bridge from the old homeland to the new homeland; an expression of a fascination for a pronounced cult of the dead and ancestors and the memory of passing life ("memento mori"), the call to enjoy our scarce time of life today ("Carpe diem ! "), to live the day consciously and the longing for eternal
A seminar house, then, "...with stones fallen from heaven"; stones as a symbol of eternity.

Beautifully relaxing - we will be back!
My husband and I stayed in the seminar house at the stone circle for three weeks in summer and we got exactly what we wanted and needed: Peace, relaxing and beautiful nature and plenty of space for us. The house is very cosy and offers a lot of space, the location including the view is incredibly beautiful and secluded. By car, however, you can get to the surrounding towns very quickly if it should get "too quiet". Our host Günter was very accommodating and friendly, always there or available if there was ever a question. The house itself has a pleasant atmosphere, the rooms are well equipped, behind the house there is a large garden with a fireplace and a beautiful view, so that everything is there for every weather.
It was a really nice holiday, thank you very much - we will be back! =)

The premises are very pleasant, there were 4 adults and one child. Unfortunately, there was no equipment for children, but there was a play area in the garden, sheep, and a small splashing fountain. The landlord was friendly.

Wir hatten eine erholsame Zeit im gut ausgestatteten Seminarhaus. Vor allem das Grillen in der Feuerschale mit tollen Fernblick war sehr schön.
