The Sonnenhof is located at the highest inhabited place in the town of Zella-Mehlis – on the Zellaer Höh. Next to the guesthouse, the Thuringian Forest begins with its beautiful hiking trails. The famous "Rennsteig" is nearby.
Apartment for 2-3 guests:
The holiday apartment "Beerberg" on the 1st floor is furnished for 2 people.
It consists of a cozy living room, adjoining kitchen with dining area, the bedroom, and a shower/WC. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, stove-oven, microwave, and dishwasher. A filter coffee machine, toaster, and kettle are also available. We provide a basic supply of spices, cooking oil, and coffee filters for the coffee machine.
You can let an eventful vacation day come to a relaxed end sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine. The newly designed bathroom in seamless style offers a comfortable, walk-in rain shower and a towel radiator.
This apartment also offers: fast Wi-Fi, 42" smart TV with media libraries, DAB radio, sofa set, balcony furniture, table with chairs, curtains / blinds for darkening & hairdryer.
There is also space for an extra bed in the living area. This is more suitable for younger people.
Alternatively, you are welcome to combine this holiday apartment with the single room with shower/WC. There is also an apartment for 3–5 people and a single room. These can be rented together.
Single room:
The single room has its own bathroom, furniture, and a television. You can combine the single room with either apartment.
We lend out various games, mountain bikes, and sleds free of charge.
In summer, you can relax in the garden or play here with your children.
We are also happy to provide a grill. Our two holiday apartments are non-smoking apartments. There is a smoking area.

Beautiful hiking trails begin right outside our front door. You can enjoy excellent hiking, Nordic walking, cycling, and in winter, skiing or sledding. The surrounding mountain huts and inns invite you to take a break.
You can store your bicycles and motorcycles in the garage.
Parking is free on the street opposite the house.
Within less than 500 meters, there is a bakery open daily and the train station with a recommended restaurant. Two more restaurants and a large shopping center are just under 1 km away.
From the train station, you can easily reach our neighboring towns Oberhof or Suhl by train or bus, as well as Meiningen, Schmalkalden, Erfurt. . . .
There are also modern sports facilities for football, handball & basketball in the immediate vicinity.
If you are a sports shooter or interested in sport shooting, you can train at the nearby Schützenhof with prior registration. (for a fee)
A local provider rents out downhill and cross-country skis for a fee. Zella-Mehlis is located at the foot of the Rennsteig in the Thuringian Forest.
Zella-Mehlis is on the Würzburg - Schweinfurt - Erfurt railway line. All trains stop in Zella-Mehlis.
Green long-distance buses from Berlin, Leipzig, Hamburg and Hanover in the north, as well as Munich, Karlsruhe and Freiburg from the south also stop at the station. This is about 500m from the Sonnenhof.
