Hohenwutzen is a district of the spa town of Bad Freienwalde and is located directly at the Polish border crossing.
The nearby town of Oderberg, once known for its important position for Berlin ,has made a name for itself today with the Cafè Kiesslinger and the inland navigation museum. Concerts are held regularly on the side-wheel steamer "Riesa".
Visit Chorin Monastery, or Germany's oldest ship lift still in operation, where you can lift yourself 36 metres into the Oder-Havel Canal by boat. You will find a landing stage for this excursion in Oderberg.
Bad Freienwalde is always worth a visit. The town offers, among other things, the Oderland Museum, the castle park with castle and the northernmost ski jump in Germany.
The district town of Eberswalde is only 22 km away and awaits its visitors with a remarkable zoo, a family garden, a bathing area and extensive shopping facilities.
From Eberswalde you can reach Berlin by train within half an hour.
In the immediate vicinity of the holiday home, about 1000 m away and easily accessible via a bridge, is the Polish market Hohenwutzen. Especially for self-caterers, a visit is a little adventure with culinary and textile surprises.
In summer and winter, walks on the Oder dike are relaxing moments.
Use your holidays to go cycling or hiking in the mountains and forests.
Hire a boat to enjoy the beautiful landscapes from the water on the waterways of the old and new Oder, which Frederick the Great had built.
The Schorfheide Chorin Biosphere Reserve still has an original cobblestone path and offers off-the-beaten-track discovery opportunities for plant, animal and especially bird lovers.
Depending on the season, you can see cranes and swans migrating, among others.
Even culture is not neglected. Neuhardenberg Castle is internationally famous for its extensive art and cultural programme and is only half an hour's drive away. In the well-known "Theater am Rand" in Zollbrücke, well-known actors indulge their desire away from the big stages.
The holiday home is located directly on the Oder in Hohenwutzen near the border crossing to Poland.
There is a very good baker, a butcher's shop and a small supermarket.

Wonderful time
It was a great time, the house is beautifully located, very well maintained, and the rooms are lovingly decorated and have a lot of charm. The whole house is simply wonderful. We definitely recommend the house and are already looking forward to our next visit.
