Since 1979, the city of Dubrovnik has been under UNESCO protection, as a harmonious, high-quality ensemble of walls, historic buildings, streets, squares, and numerous monuments of sacred and secular architecture. In addition to Dubrovnik, the Old Town, walls, and beaches, the Dubrovnik region offers the opportunity to visit and explore the surrounding picturesque places such as Cavtat, Metković, the islands of Korčula and Lastovo, as well as many other picturesque towns in the Dubrovnik region.
