Welcome to the holiday apartment "Gertude 26" in Ljungby, southern Sweden.
In the heart of the legendary Småland region, the historically preserved apartment is located in the listed 1904 birthplace of the painter Sven Ljungberg – ideal for your cultural, legendary, and family vacation!
The spacious apartment offers 108 m² of space for up to 6 guests and features two bedrooms (in the living room, 2 camp beds possible) as well as a modern bathroom (en suite to the bedroom) and a guest WC. Relax in the historically renovated and bright living and dining rooms.
The restored kitchen is fully equipped: ceramic hob with extractor fan, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, as well as extensive crockery and cooking utensils—everything your heart desires.
Bed linen and towels are included.
The large terrace on the Lagan invites you to linger outdoors and offers a beautiful view of the river and the garden. Bicycles and a boat are available free of charge upon request for exploring the beautiful nature and the nearby river.
For longer stays, there is a washing machine, a dryer, and an iron.
A parking space is located directly at the house.
The apartment is centrally located (town center, shopping, bus station within walking distance) and yet close to nature with a direct view of the Lagan River. It is exclusively for non-smokers and offers an allergy-friendly environment. A TV provides entertainment on quieter days.
Long-term rental is possible – ideal for exploring the region extensively.

12 km south of Ljungby there is another elk park on the E4: Elinge Älgpark. It can be reached from exit 78.
Ljungby Center
Some visitors may be surprised to see so much concrete in the center of Ljungby. This is the result of a major fire: in 1953, large parts of the city center fell victim to a fire. Afterwards, the center was rebuilt in a “modern” style. Today, it would certainly be done differently and better. At Gamla Torg square you will also find old wooden houses, a cozy café, a tavern, and a well-kept garden.
(The landlord: There is also a charming (UNESCO-registered) fairy tale museum - Sagobygden.se, an art and a local history museum, as well as a model railway museum well worth seeing - Minivarlden.se, a municipal bath with sauna, an ice and football stadium, etc. )
Småland’s Lake District
Ljungby has entered into a tourism partnership with the neighboring municipalities of Hylte, Gislaved, and Värnamo and markets itself as “Småland’s Lake District” (Smålands sjörike). The greatest attraction in the Lake District is Sweden’s twelfth largest lake, Lake Bolmen, west of Ljungby.
But the lakes Vidöstern and Flåren north of Ljungby (towards Värnamo) are also well developed for tourism.
For cyclists: Banvallsleden
A 200 km long cycling trail passes through Ljungby. He comes from Halmstad in the west, runs through Småland and ends in Karlshamn in Blekinge. The cycle path runs on old railway embankments. Hence the name “Banvallsleden.” In total, you pass 40 partly well-preserved stations on the route from coast to coast.
Hiking/Sagobygden:
Backpack packed and off to adventure! All over Småland you will find hiking trails suitable for the whole family. There is much to discover: from enchanted legendary sites and forests, picturesque viewpoints to bathing spots, picnic-friendly meadows, and even waterfalls (Danska Falls). There are also, for those interested, around 100,000 geocaches in Sweden, for example!
