The Accommodation
Our beautiful chalet 'Het Balkerbos' is located in a small holiday park in the middle of the forest of Balkbrug.
Our 4-person chalet is new (2023) and equipped with all modern conveniences. The chalet feels spacious, also because of the ample light.
The living room is furnished with a comfortable sofa and 2 armchairs. If you're not out and about, you can relax here, chat together, read a book, have a drink or pick out a nice game from the cabinet. There is a good (free) WiFi connection, so you can use your digital resources too.
In the dining area, there is room for 4 people at a cozy dining table. Aside from shared meals, this table is also ideal for playing!
The new kitchen is fully equipped, so you can enjoy cooking together. The kitchen offers plenty of space in the cabinets and is equipped with a dishwasher, a gas stove, a spacious refrigerator with freezer compartments, and an oven. Bake a casserole or a pizza, here everything is possible!
The kitchen is equipped with all kinds of kitchen appliances. There are also suitable kitchen utensils for younger children.
Additionally, the kitchen includes a toaster and a sandwich maker. The kitchen is equipped with a filter coffee machine and a kettle. There is enough kitchen inventory to prepare delicious meals yourself.
There are 2 bedrooms in our chalet. One bedroom has a double bed (160x200). The other bedroom has 2 single beds (90x200). The bedrooms offer plenty of storage space. The main bedroom has a beautiful built-in closet where you can store both your hanging and folded clothes. Of course, a nice bathroom is also essential. The bathroom has a nice shower, a toilet, and a washbasin. The bathroom also has an extraction system and a radiator.
You must bring your own towels.
All our windows have mosquito nets. This is ideal for humid summer nights and keeps the insects away.
The living room has a garden door, so you can easily go outside. There are several comfortable chairs on the spacious terrace. Under the porch there is a beautiful garden set where you can dine or relax with a cool drink in the sun.
The garden has both sun and shade. In the barn, there are additional loungers which you can set up as you like. There are also some nice outdoor games in the shed. The garden was completely redecorated (2025).
In our chalet, there is an information booklet where you can find important information. It also includes fun tips for excursions in the surrounding area. Moreover, you can contact the friendly reception of the holiday park at any time with your (urgent) questions.
Our beautiful chalet 'Het Balkerbos' is a wonderful starting point for both young and old.

Access for guests
'Het Balkerbos' has a parking space for 1 car. When checking in, you will receive a key for the barrier. This key is designated for 1 car. Any second car (or if you prefer not to park your car by the chalet) can be parked in the large parking lot at the entrance of the holiday park, or, if there is enough space, right by the barrier. Parking is free.

Check-in and check-out is done through the reception of the holiday park. For questions and tips, please contact the reception. You can also send us a message at any time.
You will receive our contact details after your final booking.
There is a guest book in our house; we would be delighted if you could write a nice message in it.
Further important information:
- Bed linen can be booked optionally. We will then provide you with a made bed upon your arrival.
- Bathroom and kitchen linens are not optional and must be brought by you. - We can provide a crib and a high chair. This is possible upon request.
- We place great importance on hygiene, therefore, the final cleaning is mandatory. The cost for the final cleaning is 54 €.
- The tourist tax is calculated per person per night. It is 1.05 € per person per night.

The Balkerbos is located on the edge of the Reestdal nature area. Here, you can enjoy hiking and cycling. The visitor center, which is 1 km away, is also worth a visit. From here, there are many opportunities for hiking and cycling. From Balkbrug, you can go in any direction. Consider visiting Dedemsvaart with the gardens of Mien Ruys, rent a boat on the Vecht in Ommen, go shopping in Zwolle, or enjoy the tranquility in the surrounding forests. In the middle of the forests lies the Heuveltjesbosbad (1500m). This is a beautiful outdoor pool and was voted the most beautiful outdoor pool in the Netherlands! The swimming pool has 3 pools: A nice paddling pool with many slides and other attributes; a competition pool with diving boards and a slide; there is also another pool with a slide. The swimming pool also includes a beautiful lawn with a playground.
In the cozy village of Balkbrug, there is a supermarket. For larger purchases, you can go to Dedemsvaart or Zuidwolde.
The holiday park offers many entertainment options for children. The park has a beautiful restaurant with a large terrace overlooking a playground. Moreover, it is always great fun in the Panna cage, where a lot of soccer can be played. Go-karts can also be rented at the park's reception.
The holiday park also has an incredibly fun outdoor area. Here you can climb, scramble, survive, and get dirty. Fun for young and old. Around Ascension Day 2025, the hay barn (for social gatherings), the sports field (with volleyball), and the activity center will also be opened.
