And if, for once, it happens not to be quite so sunny, you can sweat in our sauna; you can reach the sauna area directly from your bathroom. Some games and a billiard table are also available.
For those arriving by train, we are happy to meet you at the Hanerau-Hademarschen station, 5 km away, and bring your luggage home to your holiday apartment. We are also happy to bring you 2 e-bikes to the station, or the public bus will take you to within 1 km of the holiday apartment. The leisure activity "kitesurfing" refers to the North Sea coast near Meldorf, 32 km away.
Stand-up paddling is possible just 6 km away on the Eider.
Directly from the front door you can fish, cycle, hike, also great with a dog.
We can also arrange different arrival times, depending on previous and subsequent bookings – but we need at least 4 hours for cleaning.

Best place on the Northeast Sea Canal
We had a wonderful stay! The location right by the North-East Sea Canal is simply sensational – better than any television, one could watch the passing ships for hours. The holiday apartment is well-equipped and truly offers everything that young and old need for a relaxing and varied holiday – no matter the weather. We would especially like to highlight the very nice and helpful hosts, who supported us with valuable tips. The price-performance ratio is excellent. Those looking for a vacation with plenty of peace and maritime entertainment are absolutely right here!

What can we say: actually, we find it hard to use the word "perfect" - because "something" is always known to be…
But not here! It is truly PERFECT at Maria and Knut's!
Let's start with the area:
The "scent of the great wide world" blows over to us with every large ship on the North-East Sea Canal! The vacation apartment is right next to the "Ferry Fischerhütte," and that means we are "right in the middle"! It won't be boring there. The (actually set up as economic paths) foot/bike paths invite you to stroll, run, and cycle, and the new snack bar in direct proximity has delicious sandwiches and fish rolls!
It rained quite often during our week... actually always...?
No problem in our vacation apartment "Steuerbord":
A complete setup, including a covered terrace and underfloor heating, makes you forget the rain outside and creates a really cozy atmosphere inside! Starting with the kitchen: it is not a given that there is a full cooking range, including an oven plus a microwave on offer. A dishwasher, small appliances such as a kettle, coffee maker, and toaster, as well as a freezer and washing machine (plus dryer) if needed, complete the offer. Full equipment with dishes and towels is, of course, included. A new bathroom and a great bed with wonderful mattresses are included. Electric adjustable slatted frames (great for watching TV) invite you to feel good and chill!
Maria and Knut are very attentive hosts: Since we arrived with our two dogs, there were 2 food bowls, toys, and even a dog bed ready for them!!! The fenced garden for freely "getting some fresh air" is, quote: "that's taken for granted here." Our hosts were very concerned that we felt comfortable and that we lacked for nothing…
And so we had a great, relaxing week, and it was certainly not the last time we will say "ahoy" to Maria and Knut!

Hello from the land between the seas. We discovered the Fährhaus Fischerhütte in 2021 and could hardly believe that such a beautiful house in such a special location had been empty for 5 years. For us it was clear right away: This is it! Ideal for our plans to live in a beautiful place ourselves while also letting others share in it. In the summer of 2024, after a long phase of planning, approval, renovation, and design, it was finally time: the first of the two holiday apartments was ready. We are looking forward to welcoming guests. Being hosts has accompanied us through life: most recently for 15 years as hostel parents at a youth hostel located on an 800-year-old castle-like site in the city of Mühlhausen in Thuringia. The great part about being hosts? That one keeps being reminded of how good one has it, so that it never becomes taken for granted.
