Welcome to the Lion's Den in Passau! We are pleased to introduce you to our beautiful old townhouse on the Inn as a holiday home!
A cozy house all to yourself!
The old townhouse is located in the Passau district of Innstadt, directly on the banks of the Inn, quiet yet central. It has two bedrooms with a total of five beds on two floors, a bathroom, two separate toilets, a kitchen with a small breakfast nook, and a spacious dining and living room with underfloor heating and a stove heater. The house includes a riverside terrace. You have a fantastic view of the Inn, the Old Town of Passau, and the Passau Fortress. Due to the thick old walls, the house has a pleasant indoor climate; ambient noises are almost completely blocked out. You will notice how the quietness and the fresh air by the river quickly provide relaxation. An ideal place also for focused reading or working. The decor, with its partially historical furniture, has a unique charm.
The Löwengrube is a low-traffic, one-way street only open to local traffic. A parking space for your car is available within a 5-minute walk, and an Edeka market is also within walking distance. Varied dining options are located in the immediate vicinity. The city center of Passau, with modern shopping facilities, the old town, and cultural offerings, can be reached on foot in a few minutes via the Inn Bridge or the Fünferlsteg. You can reach the Dreiflüsseeck, which you can see from the living room window, with a 15-minute walk. You can safely store your bicycles in the basement. The Danube cycle path runs directly past the house.
Coffee filters, tea strainers, kitchen towels, washing-up brushes, dish soap, dishwasher tablets, and toilet paper are available!
In the house, you will find many informational materials about excursion options, hiking maps, and literature about Passau and the surrounding area for your use. Some board games and a small exchange library are also available.

Passau is picturesque, historical, and vibrantly alive. Nestled between the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers, the city offers a special backdrop that impressively and invitingly combines nature, history, culture, relaxation, and modern life.
The charming old town enchants with its Baroque buildings, lively alleys, and colorful facades. As you wander through the winding streets, you discover cozy cafes, creative boutiques, and charming squares that invite you to linger and observe. The university brings youthful life and international flair to the city. Many artists allow a peek over their shoulders in their small studios. The Lower Bavarian State Theater and the famous Scharfrichterhaus offer good cultural programs. The European Festival Weeks and the Eulenspiegel Tent Festival are annual highlights.
Countless restaurants, beer gardens, cafés, and bars leave nothing to be desired from a culinary perspective.
Water is definitely an essential part. Picturesque bike paths along the Danube and Inn, idyllic hiking trails by the Ilz and the smaller rivers of the area, walks along the Inn quay or the docks on the Danube side, relaxed boat trips on the Danube . . . find the access to the water that suits you! The fresh air and the green banks provide a soothing feeling of tranquility. Simply start hiking or biking. In the vicinity, there are various swimming options - fantastic natural bodies of water, as well as the beautiful Passau adventure pool PEB.

Great Home base for an Adventure!
This house was the perfect home base for our trip to Germany. The location was convenient and within walking distance of many cafes, parks, shopping, and scenic areas. The house was clean, orderly, and comfortable for our family of 4. We would stay there again!

A beautiful holiday home
I felt very comfortable in this house because the decor and location are beautiful. One has great views of the city center of Passau. The conversations with Mrs. Rutz were very nice, as well as with her housekeeper, who is extremely friendly and accommodating. Almost everything one needs is available in the house.

Prime location for well-being
We spent four nights in the Lion's Den in winter and felt very comfortable. The booking process and communication with the hosts were incredibly straightforward and pleasant. The house had everything we needed. It is a lovingly renovated historic house. We especially enjoyed the short distances: In the city center, meaning in the immediate vicinity, there are shopping opportunities and dining options; also, the very successful Roman Museum "Kastell Boiotro." In a few minutes, you cross the Inn Bridge into the city center with a variety of shopping and dining options. We really enjoyed the short distances. The walk to the train station takes about 20 minutes. The view from the living room of the Inn and the old town is impressive. The house is highly recommended. In short: Anytime again.

Fantastic holiday home in Passau
We were at the "Löwengrube" at the beginning of April 2025. The holiday home is located in the Innstadt district in an absolutely quiet location. From the house, you can see the Inn and the old town. In just a few minutes on foot, you can reach either the shops in Innstadt or, via the bridge, the old town.
You can stop in front of the house for loading and unloading. A parking space in a nearby parking garage is included in the price.
The house is charmingly furnished, and the kitchen is excellently equipped. The landlords are fair, reliable, and make a lot of effort, among other things, by providing various informational materials in the house.
In summary: Great!
