Description

In the heart of Germany – in the hiking paradise Bavarian Rhön: The charming hunting lodge in Schönau an der Brend from 1911 has 10 bedrooms for up to 20 people (total 400 sqm, 20 beds, 10 double rooms, (including 1 twin room with bunk bed), 4 bathrooms, 2 kitchens).

A dream house for family celebrations, holidays with friends or the whole family – and the dog may come along on request. On the ground floor is the reception room; the rich interior with vaulted room, paneling, wall paintings, and plank floors make a holiday in this house an experience. Hunting trophies, old pictures and farmhouse furniture, wall paintings with fruit garlands, and a choir of angels painted on the ceiling make the hearts of steadfast romantics beat faster. A dining room with a dining table for 20 people, a hunting parlor with a dining table for 8 people, canapé and tiled stove – much here still comes from the original furnishings from 1911. New are the beautiful elegant bathrooms, the two comfortable, well-equipped kitchens, and the central heating. There is a large living room with 2 cozy seating areas, stereo system and television. White damask bed linen and fluffy towels are provided. Dreamlike orchard with a huge meadow, completely fenced. Here there is a garden sauna with an electric stove.
Terrace with beautiful wooden garden furniture with cushions for 20 people. 3 sun umbrellas, 4 charcoal grills, 9 deck chairs.
For children there is a sandbox, a paddling pool, outdoor toys, Bobby Cars, ride-on toy tractors, a swing, and inside the house there is also all kinds of toys, in addition to board games for the whole family. Of course, there is central heating.
A place of absolute tranquility with many opportunities for wonderful activities in a magnificent hiking and cultural landscape.

Location and surroundings of object

The hunting lodge is quietly situated on the outskirts of the village on the (hardly used) road. A large fenced orchard is located behind the house
Schönau is a pretty Rhön village with half-timbered houses and a beautiful church. There is an inn opposite.
In the village there is a wonderful public outdoor swimming pool with a play stream for children (500m away), slide, sports pool, beach volleyball court and a good cafe. A small shop can be found not far from the house. The well-known and wonderful hiking areas of the Rhön are only a few kilometres away, as are the winter sports and cross-country skiing areas (Kreuzberg 8 km, Wasserkuppe 24 km etc.) There is a summer and winter toboggan run. The spas of Bad Neustadt, Bad Kissingen, Bad Brückenau and Bad Bocklet are not far away. Excursions to baroque Fulda and Würzburg are also worthwhile, as are the beautiful wine villages of Main Franconia. Anglers can buy day tickets for fishing for trout and grayling on the Brend in Bischofsheim. On the Wasserkuppe you can go gliding, hang gliding and paragliding.

Dishes, glasses and cutlery are available in sufficient quantities. Beautiful table linen is always available. For festive tables, there are numerous porcelain plates to serve up nicely. Various catering options can also be chosen.

A dream!

Simply a beautiful house in which we felt very, very comfortable. The furnishings are indescribably good, the ambience so beautiful. Crackling stoves, floorboards, box windows, old door locks, elegant, modern and well-maintained bathrooms, top mattresses, beautiful pictures on the walls, well-maintained, stylish, and a wonderful bag of things to do in the area. Hiking, tobogganing, excursions to Bamberg, Fulda, Würzburg, Bad Kissingen, with children to the Wasserkuppe and much more. Simply beautiful!

Most beautiful holiday home!

How nice that this holiday home is available for rent. It really is a treasure: the beautiful paintings and carvings, the cosy atmosphere, the beautiful pictures, the lovely furnishings!
The garden with apple, nut and quince trees is a dream for children and adults alike. The house is located in a small village where you can walk directly to the Kreuzberg on well-marked hiking trails. Wonderful!

Simply great

We had never had such a beautiful, authentic, well-maintained house to rent before. It was simply incredible. The garden house is full of great toys for the kids, little bikes, scooters, diggers, pedal tractors, and so on
There are really nice glasses for all kinds of beer, wine, digestifs and long drinks etc., a super kitchen set, wonderful kitchen utensils. , super kitchen equipment, wonderful beds, super nice bathrooms. And so much space!!!
We sat in the hunting room and played memory with the children, upstairs in the living room the youngsters made themselves comfortable, and in the dining room a group also liked to sit. in the huge garden the children can run and play. It's just great to meet up here with your extended family! Many thanks also for the reliable and serious process. Everything worked out excellently, from the handing over of the keys to the very quick transfer of the deposit back. We will be very happy to come again!

Beautiful family reunion

We held a beautiful family gathering with 20 people in the hunting lodge. Everything was perfect. The house was cozy and warm. The atmosphere is simply unique and atmospheric. Beautiful tablecloths were on the tables, well-maintained glasses and good white dishes are available in sufficient quantities for a festive table. In the evening, we sat in the dreamy dining room by candlelight, protected by the painted angel choir on the ceiling. Unbelievable. We read to the grandchildren from the beautiful picture books, and during the day we made wonderful trips with the whole family. The children enjoyed the open-air museum in Fladungen and the wildlife park in Gersfeld. The visit to the Klosterwirtschaft on Kreuzberg was rustic. A wonderful autumn vacation...

Hiking group at Jagdhaus Schönau

We have rented many holiday homes and apartments before, but never an property that was so beautiful and perfectly furnished. The house was ideal for our hiking vacation with 13 people. Nothing was missing in the kitchen! It was a pleasure to prepare breakfast there. And in the afternoon, drinking coffee in the garden and relaxing after a wonderful hike in the surroundings was pure enjoyment and was praised by all participants of the tour.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Netter kleiner Rhönort, Zwar and der Hauptstraße, aber da ist kaum Verkehr, weil der über eine Umgehungsstraße geleitet wird.

free time activities: Wandern! Aber es gibt auch viele andere Möglichkeiten z.B. wenn es regnet. Aber wir hatten keine Gelegenheit außer Theaterabend in Meiningen.

shopping facilities: Kleiner Laden am Ort, ansonsten Supermärkte in Bischofsheim und Bad Neustadt

in 2011, after extensive renovation, we awakened this gem from its slumber to offer it as a very special holiday home in the middle of Germany. The paintings outside and inside were completely refreshed by church painters. The antique furniture was preserved and supplemented with pretty new things. A festive house we now offer you for a summer retreat with the whole family. Or for special celebrations, meetings with friends, small weddings. We love old houses, a cosy style, beautiful books and cultivated hospitality. You will find all this in our hunting lodge.
