Description
The house is located in the village of Koutsounari on a private road. It is the last house in the street, no through traffic.
There are small supermarkets, souvenir shops and a pharmacy in the village. There are very good tavernas within walking distance, where they still cook traditional food. There are also good beach tavernas with free parasols and sun loungers, as well as kilometres of secluded natural beach. Everything can be reached in a few minutes!
The flats are built and furnished in a typical rustic style and have been lovingly updated by a German interior designer.
Each flat has a bedroom with a double bed, a living room with a single bed and a kitchen. This contains a fridge with freezer compartment, 1 electric hob with 2 plates, coffee machine, toaster, electric citrus juicer and kettle as well as attractive cookware and cutlery. There is also a bathroom with WC and shower, hairdryer and make-up mirror.
The possibility to use the washing machine is available, reduce your luggage!
The apts. have ceiling fans, German SAT-TV with DVD player, WLAN and air conditioning
All windows and doors have insect screens!
From each south-facing terrace you have a wonderful panoramic view over the village to the Mediterranean Sea.
Behind the house is an olive tree garden with barbecue area and cosy sitting area.
Bed linen and towels are provided, please bring your own beach towels. The apt. is handed over cleaned and has to be cleaned by yourself during your stay.
Smoking is unfortunately not permitted in the rooms, but ashtrays are provided on the terraces and in the garden.
We are on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Airport pick-up is available on request, but we recommend booking a rental car through us. We will be happy to arrange a reasonably priced provider we trust.

Location and surroundings of object
East of the town of Ierapetra, after a beautiful drive along the coast with deserted beaches, you come to the village of Koutsounari. The village itself is actually an offshoot of the mountain village of Agios Ioannis, which is about 9 km above Koutsounari. It is a beautiful old village and well worth a visit.
Here on the Libyan Sea, Koutsounari has a quiet, kilometre-long beach, the so-called "Long Beach". You reach the sea from the main road on a flat path past olive groves and fields ( no steep coast with steps ). You will find a fine pebble beach with very clean, crystal clear water that is never really crowded even in high season. Apart from a few shady trees, there are also a few spots with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers
Bus stop, supermarkets and tavernas are nearby and within walking distance.
Koutsounari is an ideal starting point for interesting excursions into the surrounding area. In the surrounding mountain villages you will still find the natural charm and friendliness of the Cretans.
There are regular buses to the east side (Sitia 50 km) and west side (Ierapetra 8 km).
There are many places to visit in the area, such as Gournia, Vai, Kato Zakros, the islands of Spinalonga, Chrissi and Koufonisi, Lassithi and Katharo plateaus, monasteries and archaeological sites, impressive gorges and grottos and the towns of Agios Nikolaos, Sitia and Ierápetra.
The untouched hinterland also invites you to a variety of excursions by car or jeep and hikes...
In short, there are many possibilities from the flats - but the place itself and the surrounding area are very quiet and rural.
But before the blue sky "falls on your head", you can reach the lively and beautiful town of Ierapetra in a few minutes.

Pure relaxation
We had two wonderful weeks in Crete. The furnishings of our apartment left nothing to be desired, and we could enjoy the dreamlike view of the sea already during breakfast on the terrace. Behind the apartment is a beautifully landscaped garden, where you can always find a shady spot with a view of the mountains. Taverns are within walking distance, and the nearest beach is not far away. Roland and Brigitte lovingly take care of their guests and gladly provide tips for excursions and other activities.
We will come again!

Beautiful vacation, mountains, sea, what more could one want?
The holiday starts when you arrive at the airport, with easy pick-up of a rental car (arranged by Roland), loading, getting in, and driving off with detailed directions (also from Roland). The apartment is in a typical Greek house with useful German interior and inventory additions. Due to its location at the top of the town, you have a beautiful panoramic view of the sea, the town, and the mountains in the back. Brigitte and. Roland takes great care of their guests, has good suggestions, and also arranges nice tours with the guests if desired. We felt comfortable and could imagine a repeat. A summer dream
The accommodation is beautiful, spacious and equipped with everything one could wish for and might need on vacation, things that didn't fit in the suitcase. We also felt very comfortable in the olive garden and always found a shady spot to read and relax. Our hosts took care of us lovingly again, it's almost like coming home. We feel very comfortable in the Koutsounari apartment and will definitely come back. The 1.5 km to the beach didn't bother us at all, it was part of our daily fitness program like swimming. And there's always the car...

1 A holiday apartment
Beautifully situated, with a view of the sea and the mountains. Roland and Brigitte are very competent and lovely hosts. The apartment offers everything for relaxing holidays: well-furnished, very clean, and well-thought-out. The kitchen lacks nothing, even spices and olive oil are provided. 2 cooking plates are completely sufficient, especially since you can eat well and inexpensively in the nearby taverns. There is a great garden, where location-appropriate plants grow, which therefore require little additional watering! We had a wonderful vacation! Thank you, and we would love to come back.

For individual travelers with not so high demands.
In principle, we can agree with the previous reviews regarding the location and the hosts. Brigitte and Roland welcomed us kindly, including welcome gifts, and were always there to help and give advice. The accommodation is perfectly suitable as a starting point to explore the island if you have booked a rental car. The fine gravel beach is within walking distance and there are also good taverns in the area. However, to travel around Crete, a car is absolutely necessary and you should not only use your own vehicle for shopping and getting bread at home. This means that a certain driving experience, especially on small, narrow roads, should be available. Because even the parking situation at the accommodation is far from ideal. The Spartan/Greek/Cretan furnishings are lovingly put together and there are many information about the island, including maps. However, we also have to admit that our apartment "Knossos" is a bit outdated and could use a refreshment. A 2-burner stove and a small, constantly working refrigerator are no longer up to date. The double bed with a width of 140cm is sufficient for fresh lovers, but in our opinion, it is too small for mature adults, especially with night temperatures between 25-27°C. It was good that there was an additional sleeping opportunity in the living/dining area. There was an air conditioning unit, but only for the bedroom and at an additional fee! The fans in both rooms provided little cooling at temperatures of 36°C + during the day. We could find some shade in the olive grove, and we gladly used the built-in seats and garden loungers. Here, we would have liked more greenery between the walkways, maybe small lawns with bushes. Admittedly, this is difficult on the rocky ground, but what works in hotel complexes should also work here. Despite everything, we say thank you!

Best equipped flat in panoramic location
After a few minutes and a few serpentines, you are in the panoramic position of Koutsounari and can enjoy a fantastic sea view in absolute tranquillity. From the flat "Athena" you can choose between the east terrace or the south terrace. The flat is not only fully equipped, but also decoratively a stunner. You immediately feel at home. There is nothing missing in the kitchen, even spices, washing-up liquid, olive oil (refilled if necessary) and welcome drinks in the fridge. There are also plasters next to the sharp knives, which says everything about how thoughtfully and thoroughly the landlords have furnished their guest flat
But also all the tips for excursions and all the information about Cretan life, which is not in the travel guide, remain in our memory. Of course, we also remember the home-smoked sea bream, to which the landlords invited us, and the meal we had together in a taverna, where snails, among other things, were served. If you come here on holiday, you should not only bring a rental car, but also a spirit of adventure paired with an interest in the landscape, villages, beaches and genuine Cretan cuisine. The whole eastern part of Crete is accessible: Sitia and Vai beach, Xerokambos, Agios Nikolaos and many more. Thank you for the tip of the beautiful village of Mochlos. We could not and did not want to explore everything, so there are good reasons to return to this place.
