Tastefully renovated Norman country house, quietly located in a small hamlet on the edge of the Baie de Somme. Beautifully restored half-timbered and natural stone walls, high beamed ceilings and selected brocante furniture create a pleasant atmosphere. Many decorative elements, carefully chosen, are inspired by nature and remind you that you are here surrounded by nature reserves, in particular the ornithological park of Marquenterre.
St. Valery-sur-Somme was voted the second most attractive village in France in 2017. The medieval center seduces with its many typical restaurants and attractive shops. Along the promenade, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the foothills of the Baie de Somme, considered one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Here, along the canal or a little further on the beach, you may be surprised by a curious seal or a harbor seal. The popular seaside resorts of Cayeux-sur-Mer or Le Crotoy are quickly accessible by car or even by bike (15 km).

De tuin en het huisje verdienen meer aandacht voor de prijs die we betalen. Het pad naar de deur is slecht begaanbaar. Er is geen dakgoot, dus erg nat voor de deur. Bij binnenkomst blijkt er maar een halve wc rol te zijn. De elektrische kachels doen het niet al wordt mij verteld dat deze aanslaan als de pelletkachel laag staat. Wanneer de pelletkachel op 19 graden staat, gaat ie uit en is het in de woonruimte 12 graden. Keukengerei is sterk verouderd. Slechts 1 houten snijplank en niet geschikt om vlees erop te snijden. Keukenlades zijn niet helemaal schoon en rommelig. Waarom zoveel deels versleten teflon bakpannen? 6 stuks! Er zijn te weinig theemokken bij 4 personen. Een aantal dingen zijn slecht afgewerkt. Plinten in de slaapkamer liggen los tegen de muur of ontbreken. De rode bank zit voor geen meter, kussens glijden weg en de matrassen van de bedden zijn te dun en te hard. Er is een vaatwasser maar neem zelf blokjes mee. Toevallig lagen er nog 2 (van de vorige gasten?). Zijn er nog positieve dingen? Tja, huisje voldoet min of meer aan de beschrijving. Het is “leuk” ingericht, beddengoed is schoon en fris. We zijn nu voor de tweede keer hier, maar we merken dat er niet veel aan het huisje gebeurd terwijl de prijs steeds duurder wordt. Jammergenoeg doet ons dat besluiten om hier niet meer naar toe te gaan.

The house was equipped with the necessary comfort and an enclosed garden for the dog. It was quiet and close to the coast (approximately 5 km). There was a problem with the heating. The owner had set the radiators to 19 ° via his app (so we could not operate them ourselves), but in reality they remained cold all week. We had to heat with the pallet stove. We did get the 2 bags that were ready for free at checkout (because the radiators didn't work), but the other 3 (from a supermarket) cost us a good 30 euros extra. It also took a few hours before we got an evening temperature of 19 ° in the living room. It was therefore necessary to place the dining table in front of the stove to get some heat.
