Podgora is a small tourist and fishing town near Makarska (7km). Throughout its long history, from ancient times to the present day, life in Podgora has been connected with the sea. The sea was the basis of life. Although above Podgora (pod gora = under the mountain) - with a view of the wide sea - vineyards, olive groves, small farms and pastures for donkeys, sheep, horses, cows, pigs also contributed to the livelihood, the rhythm of life was determined by the sea. These challenges shaped the character and temperament of the people of Podgora, which is also reflected in their way of life.
