It is a very special house, the Casa Gialla. Owned by an artist, it is very personal, with many pictures. Also the living room, open on two floors, is not commonplace.
From the access road and car park a short stairway leads through the garden to a large terrace (approx 50m²) .This is partly covered for shade and very sunny part. From here you have direct access to the upper level of the house, dining area and open kitchen. Also here one bedroom are my 2 beds and a bathroom with WC / shower. A gallery leads to a small balcony.
A spiral staircase takes you to the lower level in the living room with a pull-out sofa bed. In addition, are the second double bedroom and a further bathroom with WC / shower. An output leads to the lower garden. The windows are all fitted with mosquito nets. There is also a mosquito net for each bed.

Usually, bed linen and house washing is contacted with the guests. But it can be made possible by arrangement for € / bed. During the heating season, gas consumption for heating according to gas meter will be charged extra. Internet access is available for € / week. In the off-season the price with an occupancy of only 2 people may be somewhat reduced.

Definitely I would note that this landscape is always very nice indeed; but particularly, the months of May / June emphasize. The climate is mostly still pleasant, not too hot, you can swim in the sea. But the most impressive is the flora. Everywhere flourishes in big variety. The poppy beside white Margerithen lights from afar.
Also, September is highly recommended. The heat is broken. The colors shine again in particular Tuscan light. One may again make trips without heat an almost crushed.

Holiday in September

I would like to add something to my evaluation of my holiday in September. The house is in good condition. There are no defects. It has plenty of pots, pans, plates, cups everything you need to cook and eat is in good condition. The beds are good, wardrobes are big enough with enough hangers, everything is clean and makes a comfortable impression.
So I can only recommend the house.

Holiday in September 2020

A holiday in the houses managed by Elisabeth Gschend on the hillside in Castagneto is always excellent. I have been going there for about 35 years and it has become a second home. The location of the house, the complete equipment, the view from the terrace into the valley and far out to sea soothes the stressed soul of home immensely. The surroundings, with everything you look for in an Italian holiday, good food, good wine, Tuscan countryside, sea and beach
is available in abundance.
The care provided by Mrs Gschend during the holiday could not be better.
All in all, I'm going there again for the next 35 years.

Vacation 2020

Very nice view from the terrace, cozy sitting together on it unfortunately not possible due to extremely uncomfortable chairs. The chairs were about 40 years old and very uncomfortable (causing extreme back pain), were dilapidated (defective), washing machine very small (capacity maximum two bath towels), we could not use the grill at all, as it looked very dirty and unhygienic. The road to the house is quite narrow and has many potholes. The cupboards are mostly unusable due to overcrowding. The caretaker was very nice, she can't do anything about the condition of the property. At the time we were there, there were a lot of horseflies.

Very nice accommodation

Three of us stayed at Casa Gialla and had a very relaxing and beautiful week there. The location of the house is just perfect. It is a bit outside, quiet (you can hear the owl calling at night) and yet you are not far from the beach or the nearest villages. You can sit on the terrace or in the garden under the old olive trees and watch the sunsets from there. We should also mention the excellent vegetarian restaurant, which is located on the access road to the house and is also easily accessible on foot. Very tasty!
The equipment of the house leaves hardly anything to be desired, we really felt very comfortable! Mrs. Gschwend, the manager of the house, was very caring and always available for questions and requests. Many, many thanks for the nice welcome in the house! We will be happy to come back again!

3 perfect weeks !

We spent three wonderful weeks in Casa Gialla, surrounded by beautiful plants
The artist's house with its special charm and unusual architecture has a huge, partly roofed terrace from which you can see the sea (fantastic sunsets!). The terrace is ideal for reading, playing, relaxing and eating
The spacious house, equipped with everything necessary, was for us - 2 adults and 3 children (6, 9 and 12 years) - the perfect starting point for beach and cultural holidays

The very nice and helpful manager again provided us with excellent tips. This is our third time here. This year was our first time at Casa Gialla and we will definitely be back next year !

Great family vacation

We spent two wonderful weeks here with our two toddlers. The house is very spacious and has a great garden with a terrace where the children could play nicely. The equipment leaves nothing to be desired and we were taken care of very friendly.
We really liked the location, quiet, surrounded by olive groves on a hill, and yet you can quickly reach beautiful beaches or romantic medieval villages by car (about 10-20 minutes).
Tip: If you sit outside on the terrace in the evening and in the morning, you should protect yourself against mosquitoes.

When the red sun sinks into the sea in the evening...

We drive on beautiful, olive grove-lined country roads to this house, park the car, and enter a wonderfully blooming garden, onto a wide, very large terrace overlooking the distant sea, blood-red sunsets! Peace! In front of the house, a large wooden table with chairs, where we can sit in the sun, rain, any weather and eat and drink. Inside the house, there is a very well-kept decor, beautiful, large rooms, upstairs 1 children's room, finally good reading lamps at the (a bit ascetic) beds, downstairs living space, another bedroom, upstairs and downstairs each a very fine bathroom with a roaring shower, a rarity in Italy. In addition, a large laundry and utility room with a good washing machine and access to the back garden. On the walls hang very good pictures of the homeowner or his artist friends, a delight. Sloping large plot of land. During our vacation time (June 2015), the mosquitoes were a bit annoying, but using Autan helps. However, in the evenings/nights, the fireflies are so sweet. We would like to stay here. The manager of the house is very, very nice, competent, and helpful.

Yellow House - Super relaxed, great stay, guaranteed relaxation

The property description and the photos absolutely deliver what they promise: a super relaxed, great stay.
The house is very well equipped, we were surprised by all that was available. The interior is stylish and lovingly put together. A small library invites you to browse through the owner's art books and novels. We were six of us there, two couples and two singles, and felt comfortable from the beginning in the spacious house and on the generous terrace (with sea view) in the midst of the great garden. The very nice and lovely house manager also contributed to this, who could provide all kinds of insider tips for the area. The great olive oil she presses from the olives surrounding the house is highly recommended! We, for our part, have brought a supply back to Germany. We were able to conveniently park our two cars right next to the house in the parking lot. However, finding the house is not quite so easy. We would recommend arriving during daylight. The sea is just a stone's throw away by car, and in about 10 minutes, you can reach the beautiful beaches of Castagneto, which were not too crowded during our visit in mid-August. There are plenty of shopping options in the village, and the mountain village of Castagneto Carducci, with its great old houses and magnificent views over the valley and the sea, invites you for an evening stroll. In short, we would go back there, the long journey is definitely worth it.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Die Olivenhaine um das Haus herum sorgen gleich bei der Ankunft für Urlaubsstimmung. Dadurch, dass das Haus am Berg und inmitten der vielen Bäume, ein bisschen abgeschieden liegt, ist es sehr ruhig und ideal, um zu die Seele baumeln zu lassen.

shopping facilities: Die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind sehr gut mit dem Auto, für Sportler auch mit dem Fahrrad gut zu erreichen. Die großen Supermärkte bieten neben regionalen Spezialitäten alles, was man so braucht.
