Description

Our holiday home is a lovingly renovated thatched cottage dating from 1780, in an absolutely quiet, idyllic location directly on the Geltinger Birk nature reserve and only 2 km from Falshöft beach.
Even the beautiful front garden of the cottage invites you to relax with a small bistro table and chairs. Starting the day with a coffee in the morning sun is pure holiday.
The small cottage offers a lot of holiday feeling on 70 sqm living space. The main building has 3 bedrooms - 1 large bedroom with a 2.00 x 2.00 m double bed - 1 room with a 1.40 x 2.00 m queen-size bed and 1 room with a 0.90 x 2.00 m single bed - a spacious entrance area, dining room, living room with wood-burning stove as well as a kitchen and a bathroom.
The furnishings of the homely thatched cottage are individually designed with many beautiful antique pieces. Modern, maritime elements and old found objects make the little house very cosy.
In the large bedroom there is an art nouveau bed in king-size format from around 1908, which has been refurbished by us. Here you can sleep in, read, or just lounge around and watch your favourite film on TV. In the wardrobe and the vintage chest of drawers you can store your travel utensils.
The two small bedrooms are very comfortably furnished. The single room has a small desk. There is plenty of storage space in the wardrobes.
All beds are equipped with high-quality mattresses.
In the dining room, the extendable table is lit by a historical farm lamp, which is height-adjustable by a simple mechanism with the original, old lead weight. In addition, beautiful original pictures and a refurbished old mirror make the room very harmonious.
In all the window niches of the living and dining room there are small floor lamps for pleasant indirect lighting.
The comfortable sofa with many cushions and cosy blankets in the living room invites you to cozy up in front of the stove even on cool days. You'll have to bring your own red wine, and you'll find the red wine glass in the sideboard. Here you will find another large flat-screen TV for nice movie nights, as well as a hi-fi system and a DVD player. An armchair with a reading lamp and maritime ceramic lamps complete the ambience.
The kitchen is furnished to a very high standard and with everything a passionate cook needs. A few found objects, such as an old coffee grinder and a shelf with a used-look, are also at home here. From the kitchen window you can watch the pheasants in the "Knick" and the swallows on the rose arch when they start building their nests on the house wall.
The bathroom has a shower with overhead shower, towel radiator and large bathroom cabinet.
The living room and dining room, as well as the bathroom, are additionally equipped with underfloor heating
For this purpose, the floor slab was lowered during the renovation. The field stones of the old foundations are still very decoratively visible - at the transition from wall to floor. This has also given the cottage a pleasant room height of approx. 2.30 metres. Fortunately, some of the ancient ceiling beams could be preserved and complete the "hyggeligen" charm of this old reed house.
You can now combine your holiday in the cottage with a home office. The best conditions for this have now been created: the fast fibre-optic network is connected and a WLAN amplifier has been installed. With an upload speed of 50 Mbit/s and a download speed of 200 Mbit/s, nothing now stands in the way of a work stay in this gem in Nieby.
In the outbuilding there is a sauna with separate shower and WC. Sauna, relaxation and rest are wonderfully possible here. Loungers are at your disposal.
At the garden pond with jetty is a separate sun deck with seating, sun loungers and an outdoor barbecue area. Here you can enjoy the wonderful view of the pond and watch frogs and dragonflies or listen in silence to the buzzing of the bees and bumblebees at the herb patch created for them. The herbs are also there for your cooking.
In the beautifully landscaped south-west garden there is a terrace with high-quality garden furniture and a large parasol. In the beach chair you can read all the books you brought with you and also enjoy the last rays of the evening sun.
A swing is ready for the little ones to fly high.
The property and the garden pond are fenced in
A parking space at the house and a lockable bicycle shed are available. Firewood is available. Fly screens Fly screens are fitted to one window in each room.
Washing machine and dryer are located in a small separate laundry room, accessible from the outside. Is anything missing?
Yes, you as a holiday guest in this gem!

Beautiful?

From the first moment on, we simply felt comfortable. The house is very lovingly and tastefully furnished and has everything you need for a cozy get-together indoors and outdoors. Every room offers a beautiful view of the countryside and the lovingly designed garden, so that even while cooking we felt "in the green". In the garden, we could relax wonderfully undisturbed, even with our dog, as everything is fenced in. The Baltic Sea and the beautiful Geltinger Birk can even be reached on foot. The surrounding nature invites you to go for a walk and bike, which we took full advantage of. Thanks to the very good Wi-Fi, our daughter was able to prepare for university in between and I was also able to calmly take care of a few things on my laptop. Simply wonderfully relaxed, even when it rains. We would love to come back next year and hope that it will work out. ?

The perfect relaxation

The little house is located directly at the Geltinger Birk nature reserve; and already the few cars, the tranquility, a small pond and a sauna are good conditions for a wonderful holiday. But when you sit in front of the house with a morning coffee and look over the Birk towards the sea, and hear birds chirping and screaming, feel the wind, then you never want to leave. The house is cozy and well-equipped, tasteful and versatile. But it is made perfect by the beauty of nature: narrow paths lead a few meters from the house into the Birk, where you can jog on sandy paths, observe breeding birds with binoculars, and watch wild ponies (Koniks) and cattle. There are guided tours at the bird station, picnic areas, a mill - an idyll. I have now been to the Frischeisen family's house twice and will go again. Perhaps next time not in spring when the hawthorn and blackthorn bloom, but in August when you can swim. It is a perfect place to relax, read, do sports, and be happy.

A gem all the way north

Dear Mrs Frischeisen, you have a very special treasure box and the best thing about it is that you can rent it for yourself. If you want to get away from it all, be 5e degrees and look for the Nordic feeling - at least that's how I imagined it - between all the waters, you've come to the right place. With hot chocolate with rum and a good book, you don't need a long distance trip by plane. I will be happy to come back! Many greetings, Birgit Dietrich
