The advantages of the house: - The location in the village: The beautiful lake of Mergozzo can be reached in about 5 minutes on foot via charming narrow streets of the old village and is very quiet. There are various dining options, even an exclusive restaurant. - From the village, many attractions are easily accessible, including the Lago Maggiore Express (highly recommended). - The house is very clean - The owners are very dog-friendly. There were even food and water bowls ready for our dog, and dog blankets. The dog can also run around in the garden, but first check if the gates are closed. - You can park your car there spaciously. The downsides of the house: - We had a lot of trouble with coughing and colds in the house; outside it was immediately gone. We discovered the cause: a diffuser with insect repellent (warning on the label) in the socket. It is likely that various spray cans had been used earlier, which were in the cupboard. A lot of ventilation helped. There were many mosquitoes; but a less unhealthy solution should be found for that. -The grass had not been mowed for weeks, while the manual of the house stated that it was mowed every week. You could not let small children play there due to the danger of ticks. - The upstairs neighbors (the parents of the owner, of whom we only saw the mother) had the TV on very loud every evening until very late, very unpleasant for us as downstairs neighbors to hear this all the time.
- The owner never showed herself, only the mother welcomed us, but she only speaks Italian.
- There were only a few small scratched non-stick frying pans. After our complaint about health hazards, the owner placed a few new frying pans in front of our door in our absence. - In the bathroom: mold on the grout of the shower and a cord above it (unhealthy), lamp above the sink broken and the shower cabin door leaks a bit (and it's really bad if you don't pull it shut hard). - The frozen bread rolls we brought turned black in the oven, even though we set the normal temperature and short time. Oven not used anymore, because we doubted whether it functioned well. - On the sofa bed, you could feel the springs in your back resulting in back pain (despite the fact that the person lying on it is slim). - Bicycles were offered; we had no need for them, but they are wrecks. - Various small packages of jam, toast, tea, etc., were on the countertop, many of which were well past their expiration date. (Then don't put this out.) The description of the house on the internet is misleading. It says: "This recently renovated apartment. . . ". Admittedly, it was renovated at some point, but certainly not recently (15 to 20 years ago? ) It also states ". . . . and from the lake there is a large fenced lawn. . . " Well, the lake is, as mentioned, about 5 minutes' walk away and you can't speak of a lawn (tall grass and weeds). This description has played a significant role in our choice for this house.

House with a beautiful large garden. The house is well-equipped and tidy. Unfortunately, the second bedroom had a sofa bed and not a regular bed. The owners are nice but only speak Italian, so communication is difficult.

It was a spacious and pleasant apartment, with a large enclosed garden (great for the dog!). Nice beds and a full kitchen.
The shower was very tight/small.
You share access to the garden with the residents who live at the top of the house, so you have to be careful if the dog escapes.
There were a lot of mosquitoes, so you have to take that into account and prepare for that.
You have a few restaurants within walking distance, with beautiful views of the lake. There is a shopping center 5 minutes away by car for your groceries/shopping.
There was construction going on next to the house, but that did not cause any inconvenience to us.
We did very little, and that suited the location and the apartment nicely.

This villa exceeded our expectations, the private garden was a highlight, and we enjoyed spending mornings there with coffee, it was also great to have a fully equipped kitchen.

Very nice house for children and families with dogs. Very friendly landlord. Unfortunately they don't speak German.
Mergozzo is a nice place but no possibility to park by car at the lake. Not far from Verbania with very nice shops.Weather was great and we spent a great holiday in Mergozzo.
