Location and surroundings of object
Completely secluded and very quiet, the two properties are located on the north side of the "Promontorio del Gargano" in the region of Puglia in southeastern Italy on the Italian Adriatic, between the coastal town of Rodi Garganico and the holiday resort of S. Menaio on a hill above the Mediterranean Sea. The spur of Italy, with its kilometers of sandy beaches, its forests, and its elevations, exerts a special charm on its guests. Sun worshippers, hikers, cyclists, nature lovers, botanists, those interested in art history – this charming area has something to offer everyone. There are 65 different species of orchids alone to be found in the 10,500-hectare area, which has been a national park since 1991. The Gargano – and especially the spot where our little houses stand – became our little paradise as early as 1988, more than 20 years ago. First, we purchased the still well-preserved country house, gradually renovated it, then in 2002 built our "retirement home" on the neighboring property. Due to the slope, an additional holiday apartment was created below the apartment we use, which is now waiting for guests. The country house is also waiting for people who are seeking peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle. Terraces on a total of four levels each offer a different view of the sea, which is only 1.2 km away with a public sandy beach, and the evening sunset is a new experience every evening. After opening the entrance door to the holiday apartment, the guest enters the living kitchen with kitchenette, table and chairs for 4 to 6 people, and an open fireplace for cooler days. The kitchen is fully equipped. From here he turns left into the bedroom with double beds and two bunk beds. A small storage room offers space for luggage, seat cushions, etc.
The bathroom with shower, toilet, and bidet is also accessed from the living room.
A garden table with 4 chairs invites you to dine outdoors under orange trees, and two deck chairs are available for sunbathers. Shutters and mosquito screens keep heat and unwanted insects out of the living area. Especially in the hot months, the apartment is pleasantly cool, as it is located in a rock. Parking spaces for three vehicles are available under the orange trees. Vico del Gargano, a characteristic medieval town with a “Centro Storico,” is located just 5 km inland, 439 m above sea level. Tourists are rarely found here, but many German-speaking Italians meet guests in the shops or in the restaurants. These lived in the 1960s with their parents as guest workers in Germany, attended German schools in part, and later returned to their homeland to build their livelihoods here. Restaurants and pizzerias serve typical Gargano dishes, fresh fish, and seafood. Rodi Garganico, more developed for tourism than Vico del Gargano, clings to a rock directly above the sea. Here, nightlife mainly takes place during the warm season. Open-air concerts on the piazza and strolling through the narrow alleys and along the outer promenade above the steeply sloping sea until well after midnight are nothing unusual, especially in the height of summer.

Peace and pure nature
Great location among olive, orange, and lemon trees, nice, practically furnished apartment, very well-equipped kitchen, mosquito nets on the windows, despite the heat outside, nice and cool inside. We brought our grill and used it often in the evenings.
Unfortunately, we forgot the hammock. It would have been great there too.
Very nice landlords, helpful and reserved. Very beautiful beach reachable in 15 minutes by car,
The whole area is not as touristy as the southern part of Gargano.
The interesting town of Vico with a noteworthy historic old town can be reached in 15 minutes by car. In the nearby Foresta Umbra, one can recover from the heat and hike through dense deciduous forest.
We spent two and a half wonderful weeks at I Gechi del Gargano.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Liegt in einer Gartenlandschaft in Hanglage. Das Meer ist in Sichtweite und auf einer kleinen, ca. 1,5 km langen asphaltierten Straße zu erreichen; Ca. 150 Höhenmeter, also nur bedingt empfehlenswert für Strandausflüge zu Fuß. Eine motorisierter Untersatz ist fast unabdingbar.
free time activities: Mehrere Strände in unmittelbarer Nähe, die allerdings zum Zeitpunkt des Aufenthalts streckenweise (wohl aufgrund vorangegangener Unwetter) einen etwas vermüllten Eindruck machten. Wandern und Fahrradfahren im Gargano; Für Kulturinteressierte: Ausflüge (mit dem Auto) zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten Apuliens.

Rich in experiences Garagano
Once found, (arrival in the dark) the access to the beautifully and absolutely peacefully located Casa was always a joy - particularly delightful was the charming owner, who took great care of our well-being and was able to give us useful advice for our daily excursions. No day was boring, so we fondly remember this oasis of relaxation on one hand and on the other hand draw from the manifold cultural impressions of this dreamlike area.

Recreation with a dreamlike view
The Gecko holiday home captivates upon arrival with its magnificent view of the blue sea. A balm for the soul guaranteed!
The apartment and the holiday house are equipped with all the necessary things needed for living. The kitchens and sanitary facilities are kept very tidy and clean. All utensils needed for a meal are included in the kitchens.
The bedrooms are also very tidy and ensure a restful night. The particularly beautiful aspect is the quiet location of the beach. However, for families with children, the beach with sun loungers, umbrellas, and some entertainment is not far away. The two nearest villages invite you to stroll by the sea and in the villages. Even though you have to take care of your own supplies, the nearest villages offer excellent food for further processing or very good restaurants. Overall, it is a beautiful place that invites many different activities, whether lounging or action.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Entweder man ist gut zu Fuß oder verfügt über ein Auto. Jedoch empfiehlt es sich die Umgebung zu Fuß zu erkunden, auch wenn es teilweise durch die Berglandschaft etwas anstrengend ist
free time activities: Eisdielen, Restaurants und Bars gibt es sehr viele und im Sommer live-Musik an jeder Ecke.
shopping facilities: Sehr gute Obst- und Gemüseauswahl an den Märkten. Hervorragende Fisch- und Fleischauswahl auf dem Märkten zu sehr guten Preisen.

Beautifully located holiday home
We, 2 adults and 2 children, really enjoyed the beautifully located holiday home. In about 10 minutes by car, you can reach very beautiful beaches or the towns of Vico or Rodi, where you can eat really well.
