Recommended holiday home in northern Alsace

The northern Alsace was already determined as a destination in advance. I then came across this vacation home here on Ferienhausmiete.de. Although we had an unusual request, we received a very friendly response and were able to book according to our wishes. The communication was very friendly and our emails were answered quickly. Both this fact and the pictures here quickly created a great anticipation. Since the weather over Easter there could be just as changeable as at home, I made a list of possible activities and excursions for all weather conditions in advance. This preliminary work quickly proved to be useful, as I had already noted the travel times to the individual destinations and intermediate destinations. But there are also some Alsace travel guides and maps in the house library. So there is no need to necessarily purchase travel guides. The house itself is old, very old - but well maintained and functionally furnished. And that's exactly why it's so cozy and authentic. The wood stoves give it a special charm (electric radiators are also available in case someone is suspicious of fire). We also found it nice that a grill and a tarte flambée oven were available for guests to use, in combination with this cute terrace (although unfortunately the tarte flambée oven was not used). Everything that is needed is actually available. Also a few games for the children. A modern Samsung TV is also available, but was only used once with a USB stick. And it's also very quiet. We come from the Rhein-Main area and enjoyed the silence here! Wi-Fi is available and working. However, if you have a repeater at home, you might pack it and possibly plug it into a socket on the first floor. We spent most of our time on the ground floor and my tablet sometimes had trouble connecting. On the 1st floor, the connection was much better. But it was no problem. The cell phones obviously have better reception units, but I prefer to use the tablet for planning trips/hikes. But this is just "complaining" at a high level... ;-)

The neighbor is also very nice and helpful if there are any questions. We can fully recommend the bakery in the village - even though we were a bit surprised by the day off on Monday. But those who can read have an advantage everywhere... ;-)
We didn't see the shopping opportunity in the village, but we didn't look for it either. The children also enjoyed the "Stork Park". To fully explore the village and the surrounding area, we would have needed a few more days and better weather. We did our shopping in Niederbronn, Reichshofen, and of course at Auchan in Schweighouse. There is also an industrial area with some larger stores and an affordable gas station. If you are looking for a beautiful, comfortable, and well-located accommodation in northern Alsace and don't have 5* expectations, we can recommend this house! In any case, we are already thinking about another visit in the summer or autumn.

Vacation in a listed building

We were here during the century summer with the entire family of five. Upon arrival, we were absolutely thrilled by the 300-year-old half-timbered house. The layout of the house was perfect for us - kitchen, dining room/hall, and bathroom on the ground floor. The equipment is basic but charming, in line with the age of the house! The first floor features a living room and a very cozy sleeping corner for the parents, while the children are on the top floor. The slope garden behind the house is fantastic, and if you continue further up, you can immediately immerse yourself in the surrounding forest. On the terrace with an awning, you can have a great outdoor meal. The grill and wood stove definitely invite you to do so. The village is beautiful with a lot of half-timbered houses. Bakeries and restaurants are just around the corner. Shopping opportunities are within walking distance.

Relaxed summer holiday for families.

We spent wonderful summer holidays in Oberbronn with our children (5, 6, and 9). The summer heat was bearable in the old half-timbered house (built in 1731) and in the beautiful garden. The surroundings offer many opportunities for lovely excursions.

The apartment is tastefully decorated, cozy, and functional. Three floors with sleeping accommodations provide enough space for a larger family. With five people, you could comfortably sit both indoors and outdoors. The interior makes holiday life easier: In the kitchen, there were a ceramic hob, oven, toaster, coffee machine, kettle, dishes, and coffee filters available. We only really missed a dishwasher and washing machine fortunately...

Wi-Fi is available and also worked.

If you don't need much hustle and bustle and enjoy individual holidays, Oberbronn is a good choice. We are happy to recommend the holiday apartment.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Sehr hübsches altes Fachwerkdorf, den dem es einen großartigen Bäcker, ein gutes Restaurant und einen kleinen Supermarkt gibt.

free time activities: Direkt hinter dem Garten beginnen die Wälder der Vogesen. Von dort können einige kleine Wandertouren starten. Außerdem gibt es in der näheren Umgebung: zahlreiche Burgruinen, Freibäder, Minigolf usw. In ca. 45 Minuten ist man in Straßbourg - ebenfalls sehr sehenswert.

Highly recommended, rural and idyllic.

A beautiful, very old house, three stories, so stairs - although you don't necessarily need the attic for two. But there is a nice view up there, and it is cozy! Very cozy sleeping nook on the 1st floor (almost like an alcove) and a wonderful garden where sun and shade spots can be found at any time of the day. A place to feel good. Very nice landlords!

Vicinity of the holiday home: Wunderbare Umgebung, ein hübsches Dorf, viel Wald und Burgruinen satt.

free time activities: Bestes Wanderrevier, auch für einfache Wanderungen. Ein hübscher See mit Badestrand und Café etwa 15 Autominuten entfernt (Etang de Hanau).

shopping facilities: Kleiner Supermarkt und hervorragender Bäcker in Fußentfernung.

RECOMMENDATION! Beautiful house, very nice landlords.

The house is truly beautiful. The garden is great and leads directly into the forest with various hiking trails, e.g., to the Wasenburg, a Roman Mercurius sanctuary, an impressive Celtic fortification or Neolithic cup stones. The landlords are very nice and uncomplicated and really take care of everything.
If you don't expect upscale hotel standards, like to take care of yourself, and enjoy things in their original state, this is the right place for you. Especially recommended with children!

The landlords are very nice and uncomplicated and really take care of everything.
Those who do not expect high-end hotel standards, enjoy self-catering, and appreciate the original are in the right place here. Especially recommended for families with children!
