In October 2025, we booked the wonderful Villa Petrino for the second time. The spacious, covered, and surrounding arch terrace offers plenty of shaded areas and above all a free wide view of the sea and landscape with magnificent sunsets. The stone-built villa is equipped with all amenities, and Helena and Giannis are extremely warm hosts who once again treated us multiple times with Cretan delicacies. The footpath to the bathing area (approx. 80m) and for various tavern visits (between 10 and 20 minutes) is comfortably done along the sea with a picturesque evening sky and nightly starry splendor. Our renewed conclusion: one cannot wish for a better location and accommodation for a stay directly by the sea in South Crete!

It was one of our most beautiful vacations that we have ever spent. The hosts Giannis and Helena are kind-hearted people who made our stay so pleasant that we lacked for nothing. The house is 30 meters from the sea and offers everything the heart desires. 2 bedrooms, a spacious living room, a large bathroom, and a kitchen that is equipped with everything one needs. Not to forget, the large terrace with a view of the sea. There are also air conditioners everywhere. 1.4 km away, there are several taverns where you can eat excellently - 2 mini-markets where you can get everything you need - a fish shop with fresh fish daily and a bakery. We lacked nothing. However, you need a car, which was not a problem. We had already reserved the rental car from home at the airport. The support from Jassu Reisen was perfect. We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to seeing Giannis and Helena again.

The owners, Giannis and Helena, are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The house itself is excellently equipped and has everything one needs on vacation. A dreamlike view of the sea, a very large terrace that provides shade from morning to evening, but also offers the possibility to lie in the sun. The rooms are spacious, with enough space for the guests. We have been to many holiday homes in Greece, and Petrino is one of the best we have ever had.

Our vacation dream Very competent advice from Jassu Reisen. Very pleasant that we could also book the rental car directly at favorable conditions. The description of the holiday home was 100% accurate. The kitchen is well equipped, so we often cooked ourselves with a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. The new small fish shop in the village is particularly recommended, which sells freshly caught fish in the morning. We experienced the Greek, warm-hearted hospitality with many delicious treats upon arrival, as well as during and at the end of our stay, courtesy of Giannis and Helena. The house is truly a dream. In the morning, the view from the terrace railing - like the captain on the bridge of a cruise ship - stretches far over the sea towards Africa. The large surrounding terrace offers all possibilities: sun, shade, wind, and privacy. Even before breakfast, the 80 meters to the beach into the crystal-clear water. We mostly had the pebble beach with smaller sand islands to ourselves. Since the house is located at the outer edge of Keratokampos, you can walk about 2.5 km along the coast from here without encountering anyone. Pure freedom! Overall in our vacation: a lot of nature, hikes, impressive landscapes, secluded beaches, smaller excursions away from the tourist crowds, delicious fish and fresh vegetables, authentic Crete = our vacation dream.

We had a wonderful vacation at the house "Petrino." The house has an ideal location: it is on the outskirts of Keratokampos and offers a lot of peace, the distance to the sea is short (4 minutes walk to the beach) and from the large terrace, there is a breathtaking view of the sea. We sat there every day for a few hours - for breakfast, after swimming, in the evening for a glass of wine. The house is spacious, the amenities provide everything one needs, nothing is missing. On hot days, the air conditioning helps in every room. The beds are comfortable, we could sleep well. The beach is ideal for swimming (shallow entry with a sandy strip, good for children), less suitable for a long sunbath (little shade, pebbles). We mostly had it to ourselves (first half of June) and walked the short way back to the house after swimming. The place is fortunately not overrun by tourists (first half of June), but it offers taverns and two small supermarkets. Due to the location (winding roads lead down from the mountains to the village), a rental car is essential. The landlords Elena and Giannis are incredibly hospitable and warm! They pampered us as hosts and responded quickly and helpfully in case of questions. Since they do not live on-site, privacy was pleasantly ensured. Das „Petrino“ -Haus hat einen Aufenthalt in Keratokampos einzigartig gemacht. Zunächst warteten sowohl Giannis als auch Elena auf uns, um uns zu begrüßen und uns herum zu führen. Sie waren sehr freundlich und herzlich, sodass wir uns wie zu Hause fühlten. Das Haus ist wirklich schön. Die Aussicht ist atemberaubend und dieser Balkon hat unsere Tage und Nächte gemacht! Super sauber , funktionell und ausgestattet. Ein echtes Haus und kein touristischer Ort. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!!!

In the middle of the pandemic, we managed to escape to sunnier climes and spent two wonderful weeks in Greece where the infection rate was incredibly low. We could not have picked a better place than Petrino in Keratokampos, Southern Crete. You reach the village via a good road with many hairpin bends. It really feels like a discovery when you descend the mountain range. These same mountains provide shelter and you can often see the clouds struggle to get past them. The welcome we received from our hosts was fit for long lost friends. There were refreshments waiting for us in the fridge and on our last night we enjoyed a fabulous barbecue dinner that was lovingly prepared by Helen and John. After months of isolation back home, it was heartwarming to spend an evening around a table with kind people. Their house is very spacious and comfortably furnished (although if you like a soft bed, this might not be for you). What we loved about Petrino was that we had our creature comforts and a huge terrace where we could spend all day in either sun or shade. The sunsets are simply stunning, they provide a daily spectacle and an excuse for a glass of wine. The WiFi was excellent so working from ‘home’ was never a problem. The house is a few minutes walk from a pebble beach that’s very shallow. Even in November the water was warm enough to go for a swim. If you follow the coastal road into the village, you’ll find a few tavernas that serve fresh fish and the usual Greek dishes. There are also two small supermarkets and a doctor’s surgery (you never know when you might need one). This is the perfect place to go to when you need a break and some peace & quiet. We can’t wait to go back!

We had a great holiday in a large house with a beautiful terrace. Everything that was needed was available and as described. A secluded beach was a 3-minute walk away. We were almost always alone. Lovely taverns were reachable in 15 to 20 minutes on foot, each one was recommended. The landlords Elena and Giannis were super warm and almost invisible when they came to water the flowers. There are 2 small supermarkets in the village that have everything except meat. The handling by Jassu Reisen was perfect. A car is necessary. We would recommend the accommodation.

Our life in this beautiful villa almost exclusively took place on the balcony with a sensational view. The villa is fully equipped with a filter coffee machine, toaster, kettle etc. A small path leads down to the beach and in the evenings further to Keratokampos/Kastri to the restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the walk back in the dark in a beautiful atmosphere. The landlord couple welcomed us warmly and even said goodbye with a delicious meal. We will definitely come back!

As repeat offenders, we were once again in this beautiful holiday home Petrino in Keratokampos this year! And this time too, the holiday was simply perfect. The house offers everything we could have wished for: proximity to the sea (about 60 meters), tranquility, a lovely terrace (so many seating areas and the views are stunning everywhere), a washing machine, a stove (even with a ceramic hob), and everything a person needs to feel comfortable. We would also like to highlight the quiet air conditioning (we only used the one in the bedroom, but all rooms have one) and the comfortable bed (not too hard and not too soft) in the bedroom. In the evenings, we enjoyed walking to the village of Keratokampos for dinner. There are about 4 taverns here, all right by the sea and very cheap and delicious. Additionally, there are two small supermarkets here, as well as in the neighboring village of Kastri, where you can get everything you need. A car is essential, but you are far away from tourist overcrowding, and you practically have the beach to yourself. The beach is stony (beach shoes), but only the beach itself - in the water, you stand on normal sand. This time, we also hiked through the famous Samaria Gorge, but we recommend to fellow hikers to arrive a day in advance as the drive takes about 3.5 hours. You can book this hike guided - so you are picked up by a bus in Chania and brought back there. For us, it was a tiring but also breathtakingly beautiful experience.

We stayed in this lovingly furnished holiday home from September 05 to 16, 2020 and had a wonderfully beautiful vacation here. The house has a fantastic terrace with plenty of seating and a splendid view of the sea and the mountains. Nothing was missing, on the contrary - homemade Raki and some refreshments were waiting for us in the fridge :-) We would also like to highlight the hospitality of the owners! The key handover was quick and warm, we could reach them by phone at any time, and they even invited us to a delightful barbecue evening with homemade local delicacies! We simply felt comfortable and highly recommend this house. Keratokampos is a very small, authentic Greek holiday resort right by the sea. There is little tourism here, which we found very pleasant. The beach is a bit rocky, like many beaches in Crete (water shoes!), but you don't have to search for a free spot. There are four tavernas in the village or the adjacent village where we often had inexpensive dinners right by the sea. Everything is still cooked and seasoned "by hand" - incredibly tasty! There were also two small supermarkets that had everything we needed. A vehicle is essential if you don't want to miss the surrounding sights (Lassithi Plateau, Matala, Mires, Elounda, Spinalonga, etc.).

Once again, we really enjoyed our vacation at Villa Petrino. Upon arrival, we were greeted with delicious treats provided by Giannis and Elena in the fridge. We once again enjoyed the fabulous view from the balcony. The kitchen is equipped with everything - coffee machine, toaster, kettle, everything you need - including the delicious olive oil from their own production. The natural beach is quickly accessible on foot, as are the taverns in Keratokampos/Kastri. In short: everything perfect! We are already looking forward to our next vacation.

Beautiful apartment with a fantastic view of the bay. Those seeking peace will find it here. The apartment is equipped with everything you need. The approximately 50 meters away stone beach invites you to swim (recommended to wear water shoes). There are also sandy beaches nearby. You will be warmly welcomed and instructed by the homeowners. They only come on weekends for garden maintenance from Heraklion and are hardly noticeable even then. An ideal location to enjoy peace and discover this part of Crete at the same time. We will be back!!

A wonderful vacation spot. The location, with only 100 meters to the beach, is fantastic. The village within walking distance, where we also met other nice young people and where there is a well-functioning infrastructure. The house offers plenty of space. A large surrounding terrace where you get sunshine in the morning and during the day. The bedrooms with comfortable beds, and a clean, beautiful bathroom. The large living room with the connected kitchen invites you to linger. And the landlords: a delightful, hospitable couple who take care of the house and garden, who spoiled us with a drink beforehand and a sweet-salty specialty at the end. Everything was great!

On the day of arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the owners, Helena and Giannis. The spacious house is cozy, well-equipped, and lovingly decorated, with lush outdoor planting. From the large terrace, you have a wide view of the sea and the coast. Due to the lack of mass tourism, the pebble beach near the house is not crowded. There are several nice taverns in the village and 2 mini-markets where you can get everything you need, including fresh bread. There is a large weekly market in Ierapetra and Mires on Saturdays and some supermarkets. Be aware of the long driving times on the winding roads when going shopping or on excursions. Helena and Giannis usually come on Saturdays to water the plants and stay in the basement. They are very respectful of the guests' privacy. On the evening before our departure, our hosts invited us to a delicious meal with homemade dishes. It was a very pleasant evening. Upon leaving, we received a small farewell gift. We spent three wonderful weeks at this beautiful house and property and miss everything very much.

We had a wonderful holiday at the PETRINO house. The location is very quiet, with the sea just a few steps away. The vacation rental is spacious and fully equipped. We didn't miss anything. Especially if you cater for yourself, everything is available. In this case, a vehicle is needed. There are two small supermarkets and some good restaurants about 2 km away. From the first moment on, we knew: This is the right place for us! Huge terrace with plenty of seating and a fantastic view. Even at night, when you can enjoy a magnificent starry sky. It's also great to stay here when it's hot. Spacious living/kitchen area in Greek style equipped with everything you need (except for scissors - greetings to Helena, the landlady, who has probably bought some by now). The bathroom is functional and equipped with a washing machine. The children's room is small but sufficient. There is air conditioning in all rooms except the bathroom. We found everything as described. The way to the almost private pebble beach is short, sunbeds are available in the accommodation for a comfortable stay. After swimming in the sea, you can shower off in the great outdoor shower. It takes a while to walk to the village of Keratókambos along the sea. Good for an evening walk to eat at one of the taverns. For shopping, it's better to use the car, which is essential here. The landlords Giannis and Helena are very warm and discreet. On the last evening, we were invited to a lavish barbecue with them. The handling by Jassu Reisen also worked perfectly. We had a completely successful holiday here.

We stayed at House Petrino for almost 3 weeks and were absolutely thrilled! The apartment was very clean and well equipped. The highlight is the great terrace. The landlords were very warm and accommodating. We also really liked the town of Keratokambos: a quiet little town with a selection of cozy taverns where you can sit right by the water and a beach that is not overcrowded. We can only agree with the opinions presented here: The apartment is spacious, the balcony luxurious, the view of the sea almost spectacular, the facilities great, the beach easily accessible, the village offers everything you need, and there is no mass tourism (!). Elena and Giannis are caring landlords, as we have never found anywhere else. To make our farewell difficult, there was a barbecue on the last evening with the two of them and lavish food. In the perfectly located, excellently equipped, spotlessly clean and beautiful house Petrino, we were able to spend two of our most relaxing and varied vacations ever with our two teenage children (15, 17) in July 2022. If you want to experience nature, culture, and a bit of authenticity away from tourism, you are in good hands in this corner of Crete. Despite high season, we often had the beach, which was reachable in 1 minute on foot, to ourselves. About 5 minutes further east, you can dive in crystal-clear water among the rocks with the fish (sometimes also beautiful untouched sandy sections). There are opportunities for smaller excursions, for example, a 20-minute walk to the lower section of the nearby Richtra Gorge or by car – absolutely necessary – heading east to Hierapetra (e.g. weekly market on Saturdays) and the charming Myrtos (e.g. motorboat rental), longer trips to sites like Phaistos and Gortyn (excavations) or Heraklion (e.g. Knossos, archaeological museum, and much more); more beautiful natural beaches can be found in the western direction, for example, Paralia Listis or at the secluded village of Maridaki, which can be easily visited via a 20-minute walk or with a shuttle boat from Tsoutsouras that can be requested by phone. The walkable town center of Keratokampos and the adjacent Kastri offer varied dining options next to two small supermarkets, with delicious, fresh, and affordable food and drinks in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We also enjoyed visiting the culinarily authentic Taverna Amalia in the mountain village of Chondros. We were fortunate to only encounter relaxed and open-minded people. Last but not least: the hosts Giannis and Elena welcomed us, took care of us, and shared their time with us as if we were friends. They came to help in the middle of the night when we had problems. Since the house is located on the outer edge of Keratokampos, you can walk about 2.5 km along the coast from here without meeting anyone. Pure freedom! Overall in our vacation: lots of nature, hikes, impressive landscape, secluded beaches, smaller excursions away from the tourist crowds, delicious fish and fresh vegetables, original Crete = our vacation dream.

We spent our holiday in the great Petrino house in southern Crete and enjoyed every minute! The house is only one minute walk from the beach and has a fantastic view over the sea and mountains. There are 2 bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen with all utensils. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning. The terrace has several seating areas and offers sun and shade at different times of the day. Keratokampos is a cozy village with a small supermarket and some taverns where you can eat deliciously and cheaply. If you want to go on excursions, you have to accept longer drives (1 hour to Heraklion, 1 hour to Ierapetra, over 2 hours to Chania and Rethymno). We would like to especially mention the super nice and friendly landlords - Yannis and Eleni. They live in the house on the ground floor and are extremely helpful and hospitable. We were lucky to meet such warm and attentive people! So, we can wholeheartedly recommend this quiet and cozy house! Dear Yannis and Eleni, hopefully, we will see each other soon! Again we enjoyed our vacation at Villa Petrino. Upon arrival, we were greeted with delicious treats provided by Giannis and Elena in the fridge. Again, we enjoyed the fabulous view from the balcony. The kitchen is equipped with everything - coffee machine, toaster, kettle, everything you need - including the delicious olive oil from their own production. The natural beach is quickly accessible on foot, as are the taverns in Keratokampos/Kastri.
In short: Everything is perfect! We are already looking forward to our next vacation.

This time we were once again at Petrino. Warm welcome by our hosts Helena and Giannis. A visit like with long-time friends. The large terrace is fantastic and also offers good protection in windy or overly sunny conditions. And then again, like last time, the wide view of the roaring sea. I always feel like a captain on the bridge of a large cruise ship heading towards Africa. Every morning, a few steps to swim in the sea before breakfast. 26 degrees water temperature in early October. The mostly deserted beach invites undisturbed long walks. Pure relaxation. The small farewell gifts: Greek mountain tea and herbs will remind us of the beautiful time even in winter. We will come back. Gabi and Wolfgang.

From the first moment on, we knew: this is the right place for us! Huge terrace with plenty of seating furniture and a fantastic view. Even at night, when you can enjoy a magnificent starry sky.
You can also endure the heat here.

Spacious living/dining area in Greek style equipped with everything you need (except scissors - greetings to Helena, the landlady, who has probably bought some by now).

The bathroom is functional and equipped with a washing machine. The children's room is small but sufficient.

There is air conditioning in all rooms except the bathroom.
We found everything exactly as described.

The path to the almost private pebble beach is short, sunbeds are available at the accommodation for comfortable sunbathing.

After swimming in the sea, you can shower in the great outdoor shower.

It takes a while to walk to the village of Keratókambos along the sea. Good for an evening walk to have dinner in one of the taverns. For shopping, it is better to use the car, which is essential here.

The landlords Giannis and Helena are very warm and discreet. On the last evening, we were invited to a plentiful barbecue with them.

The handling by Jassu Reisen has also worked perfectly.

We had a completely successful holiday here.

We spent almost 3 weeks at the Petrino house and were absolutely thrilled! The apartment was very clean and well equipped. The highlight is the great terrace. The landlords were very warm and accommodating. We also really liked the village of Keratokambos: a quiet place with a selection of cozy taverns where you can sit right by the water and a beach that is not overcrowded. We have recovered very well and will definitely come back.

In the middle of the pandemic, we managed to escape to sunnier climes and spent two wonderful weeks in Greece where the infection rate was incredibly low. We could not have picked a better place than Petrino in Keratokampos, Southern Crete. You reach the village via a good road with many hairpin bends. It really feels like a discovery when you descend the mountain range. These same mountains provide shelter and you can often see the clouds struggle to get past them.

The welcome we received from our hosts was fit for long lost friends. There were refreshments waiting for us in the fridge and on our last night we enjoyed a fabulous barbecue dinner that was lovingly prepared by Helen and John. After months of isolation back home, it was heartwarming to spend an evening around a table with kind people.

Their house is very spacious and comfortably furnished (although if you like a soft bed, this might not be for you). What we loved about Petrino was that we had our creature comforts and a huge terrace where we could spend all day in either sun or shade. The sunsets are simply stunning, they provide a daily spectacle and an excuse for a glass of wine. The WiFi was excellent so working from ‘home’ was never a problem.

The house is a few minutes walk from a pebble beach that’s very shallow. Even in November the water was warm enough to go for a swim. If you follow the coastal road into the village, you’ll find a few tavernas that serve fresh fish and the usual Greek dishes. There are also two small supermarkets and a doctor’s surgery (you never know when you might need one).

This is the perfect place to go to when you need a break and some peace & quiet. We can’t wait to go back!

On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the owners Helena and Giannis. The spacious house is cozy, well equipped, and lovingly decorated, and the outdoor area is lushly planted. From the large terrace, you have a wide view of the sea and the coast. Thanks to the absence of mass tourism, the pebble beach near the house is not very crowded.
In the village, there are some nice taverns and 2 mini-markets where you can get everything you need, including fresh bread. There is a large weekly market in Ierapetra and Mires on Saturdays, and there are also several supermarkets.
Those who go shopping or on excursions should not underestimate the long driving times on the winding roads.
Helena and Giannis usually come on Saturdays to water the plants and they stay in the basement. They are very considerate of the guests' privacy.
On the evening before departure, our hosts invited us to a delicious meal with homemade dishes. It was a very nice evening. Upon departure, there was a small farewell gift.
We spent three wonderful weeks on this beautiful house and property and miss everything very much.

A wonderful vacation location. The location, with 100 m to the beach, is fantastic. The village within walking distance, where we also met other nice young people and where there is a well-functioning infrastructure.
The house offers plenty of space. A large surrounding terrace where you get sunshine in the morning and during the day. The bedrooms with comfortable beds, and a clean, beautiful bathroom. The large living room with the attached kitchen invites you to stay. And the landlords: a very adorable, hospitable couple who take care of the house and garden, who spoiled us with a drink beforehand and a sweet and salty specialty at the end. Everything was great!

We stayed in this lovingly furnished holiday home from 5 to 16 September 2020 and had a wonderful holiday. The house has a magnificent terrace with lots of seating and a wonderful view of the sea and the mountains.
There was nothing missing, on the contrary - homemade raki and some refreshments in the fridge were waiting for us :-)
We would also like to emphasise the hospitality of the landlords! The handover of the keys was quick and cordial, we could reach them by phone at any time and they even invited us to an entertaining barbecue evening with homemade local delicacies!
We simply felt at home and can highly recommend this house.

Keratokampos is a very small authentic Greek holiday resort right by the sea. There is very little tourism here, which we found very pleasant. The beach is a bit stony, like many beaches on Crete (water shoes!), but you don't have to look for a free spot.
There are four tavernas in the village or neighbouring village, where we often had a very cheap dinner directly by the sea. Here, everything is still cooked and seasoned "by hand" - unbelievably delicious!
There were also two small supermarkets that had everything we needed.
A car is indispensable if you don't want to miss the surrounding sights (Lassithi plateau, Matala, Mires, Elounda, Spinalonga etc.)

We had our peace and seclusion, which we appreciate so much. The terrace is large and cool for hot days and very well shaded. The view of the sea is great. From the property line to the beach it is maybe 100 m - brilliant! Very quiet place with some really good tavernas. If you want peace and quiet, you are in the right place. Fortunately there is no hustle and bustle and no party. We had several 100 m of beach to ourselves every day. Yannis and Helena are very lovely people with whom we spent a wonderful evening. We would come back again and again.

We spent a wonderful holiday in the PETRINO house. The location is very quiet, the sea only a few steps away. The flat is spacious and fully equipped. We did not miss anything.
Especially if you are self-sufficient, everything is available. In this case you need a car. There are two small supermarkets and some good restaurants about 2 km away.
The view from the terrace to the sea and the coast is beautiful. In the midday heat, the terrace is always pleasantly shaded.
Special mention must be made of the landlords Helena and Giannis with their warm manner and hospitality.

As repeat offenders, we were again this year in this beautiful holiday home Petrino in Keratokampos! And this time, too, the holiday was simply perfect.

The house offers everything we wanted: Proximity to the sea (about 60 metres), peace and quiet, a beautiful terrace (there are so many places to sit and the view is gorgeous everywhere), a washing machine, a cooker (even ceramic hob) and everything a person needs to feel comfortable. We would also like to highlight the quiet air conditioning (we only used the one in the bedroom, but all rooms have it) and the comfortable bed (not too hard and not too soft) in the bedroom.

In the evenings we liked to walk to the village of Keratokampos for dinner, there are about 4 tavernas here, all right by the sea and very cheap and tasty. In addition, there are two small supermarkets here, as well as in the directly adjacent village of Kastri, where you can get everything you need.

A car is indispensable, but you are far away from tourist overpopulation, and the beach is actually all to yourself. It is stony (bathing shoes), but only the beach itself - in the water you stand on normal sand. This time we also hiked through the famous Samaria Gorge, but we would like to recommend like-minded people to arrive a day in advance, as the journey takes about 3.5 hours. You can book this hike as a guided tour - a bus picks you up in Chania and brings you back. For us it was a strenuous but also breathtakingly beautiful experience

Our holiday dream
Very competent advice from Jassu-Reisen. Very pleasant that we could also book the rental car directly at favourable conditions. The description of the holiday home was 100% accurate. The kitchen is well equipped, so we often cooked ourselves with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. We especially recommend the new little fish shop in town, which sells freshly caught fish in the morning.
We experienced the Greek, warm-hearted hospitality with many delicious attentions at the welcome but also during and at the end of the stay by Giannis and Helena live.
The house is really a dream. In the morning, the view from the terrace railing - like the captain on the bridge of a cruise ship - far across the sea towards Africa. The large surrounding terrace offers all possibilities: Sun, shade, wind and privacy protection. Before breakfast, the 80 metres to the beach into the crystal-clear water. We had the pebble beach with smaller sand islands mostly to ourselves. Since the house is on the outer edge of Keratokampos, you can still walk about 2.5 km along the coast without meeting anyone. Pure freedom!

Beautiful flat with a fantastic view of the bay. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you will find it here. The flat is equipped with everything you need. The stone beach about 50 m away invites you to swim (beach shoes recommended). There are also sandy beaches nearby.
You will be warmly welcomed and instructed by the owners. They themselves only come from Heraklion at weekends for gardening and even then are hardly noticeable.
An ideal location to enjoy peace and quiet and at the same time discover this part of Crete. We will be back!

The holiday home is in a fantastic location with a beautiful view of the sea. Wonderfully clean, great terrace and short walk to the sea. Sunbeds were provided by the very nice and loving landlords. We had the pebble beach to ourselves. Crystal clear water. It is a long drive to the sights of the island due to the remoteness, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet. You must try the fish at the Morning Star taverna.

In July 2022, we spent two weeks with our two teenage children (15, 17) in the perfectly located, excellently equipped, spotlessly clean and beautiful house Petrino, one of our most relaxing and varied holidays ever. If you want to experience nature, culture and a bit of originality far away from tourism, this corner of Crete is the place for you.
Despite the high season, we often had the beach, which is only a 1-minute walk away, to ourselves. About 5 minutes' walk to the east, you can dive in crystal-clear water between the rocks with the fish (there are also some beautiful stretches of untouched sand).
Smaller excursions are possible, e.g. 20 minutes on foot to the lower section of the nearby Richtra gorge or by car - absolutely necessary - eastwards to Hierapetra (e.g. weekly market on Saturdays) and to pretty Myrtos (e.g. motorboat rental), somewhat longer e.g. to Phaistos and Gortyn (excavations) or Heraklion (e.g. Knossos, archaeological sites).Other beautiful natural beaches can be found in a westerly direction, e.g. Paralia Listis or the secluded village of Maridaki, which is easiest to visit via a 20-minute walk or by shuttle boat from Tsoutsouras, which can be requested by telephone.
The centre of Keratokampos, which is within walking distance, and the adjoining Kastri offer two small supermarkets as well as a variety of places to eat and drink in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We also very much enjoyed a visit to the culinary-atypical Taverna Amalia in the mountain village of Chondros. We were lucky to meet only relaxed and open-minded people.
The best and most important thing at the end: The hosts Giannis and Elena took us in, looked after us and shared their time with us like friends. In case of problems they came in the middle of the night and helped. - Σας ευχαριστούμε για τη θερμή φιλοξενία σας! We will be back!

The apartment is spacious, the loggia lush, the sea view almost spectacular, the facilities super, the beach very quickly accessible, the village offers everything you need and there is no mass tourism(!!!).
Elena and Giannis are caring landlords and we have never found this anywhere else.
To make it difficult for us to say goodbye, we had a barbecue with them on the last evening, with a sumptuous meal. The two of them are really likeable!

Our life in this beautiful villa took place almost exclusively on the balcony with a sensational view. The villa is fully equipped with filter coffee machine, toaster, kettle etc. A small path leads down to the beach and in the evening further to Keratokampos/Kastri to the restaurant. We especially enjoyed the walk back in the dark in a beautiful atmosphere. The landlord couple welcomed us warmly and even gave us a delicious farewell meal.
We will definitely be back!
