Description
The detached stone house Amathianis is set in a beautiful hillside location above the bay of Triopetra and offers a unique view across the southern coast of Crete and the Libyan Sea. The holiday house was named after the old district of Amathianis and is set in beautiful and quiet surroundings. The detached two-storey house is tastefully and comfortably furnished following the architecture of old Cretan farmhouses. There are several terraces, some in a sunny spot and some roofed with a pergola, that invite you to relax and chill and enjoy the wide open view across the sea. The large and enclosed nature property is partly terraced, covered with Mediterranean plants and olive trees and provides options for withdrawal and retreat.
Since the property is terraced it has a ground-level entrance to the first floor while the basement hosts some storage/utility rooms. From the outside the house looks rather rustic and country-style which matches the stone walls and the modern interior. From the living room you have a spectacular view across the hilly landscape of southern Crete and the blue sea. The spacious living room is connected to the half-open kitchen with a dining area. From the living room you have access to both bedrooms with a shared bath. The perfect spot to watch unforgettable sunsets is the private terrace in front of the living room. The roofed terrace is facing south-west and is wind-sheltered and privacy screened. Towards the side of the holiday house and on level further down there is another terrace with sunbeds.
There is lots of space for quality time together with family or friends to enjoy cooking, chilling and simply relax. Tranquillity, a comfortable living ambience, Mediterranean country idyll, spectacular views, magnificent sandy beaches and a very clean sea and a charming coastal landscape, is what you can expect in the holiday house Amathianis.
The distance to the next village Akoumia is about 10km. The distance to Spili, where you have a wide choice of shopping facilities is approx. 20km. About 2,3km from the holiday houses, on the small and on the large beach of Triopetra, are some taverns.
About 30 metres to the side of the Amathianis holiday home and two levels lower, due to the slope of the property, there is another house occupied by landlords.

The house is wonderful for 4 people, suitable for 2 single beds and 1 double bed! It stands alone and is very quiet! The beds are hard but comfortable. The bathroom is impeccable, there is even a washing machine. The kitchen is adequately equipped. The outdoor area is spacious and very sheltered from the wind. This is very important, as the wind can be really stormy. It takes 5 minutes by car to the sea. Since there is very little ambient light, you have a wonderful starry sky!

We were warmly welcomed by the landlord and felt comfortable right away. The house, the location, and the view are very beautiful. It was pure relaxation. We would love to come back.

We were in the house for 10 days as a group of four starting in mid-May and had a very, very nice time there. The welcome from the landlord family was super nice: On the kitchen table, there was a bouquet of roses, a bowl of fresh fruit, a bottle of raki, and four delicious Cretan pastries made by the mother herself. The daughter Eleni had already contacted us for the first time and introduced herself while we were still at the airport before our departure. We arrived very late, after 10:00 PM. Everything is no problem. Eleni wrote to us again shortly before our arrival, and we briefly clarified by phone where we could park the car. The house key was in the lock, and we could enter the house immediately. A very beautiful, secluded house. If you want peace and quiet - perfect. It offers enough space for everyone with a kitchen, small living room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a large shower. The house is very well furnished and provides everything you need, for example. to cook by oneself. One has a beautiful view of the lovely landscape and the sea from the living room and a bedroom, as well as from the dining table in front of the house. In the terraced, paved garden, one can find their favorite spot with a sea view and can linger there in the sun or in the shade. The family has another house below the main house. The father would occasionally be there and check on the garden. But that was practically unnoticed. He also came by with a salad from the garden and freshly baked Cretan pastries from his mother - very delicious. With Eleni, you could communicate quickly and easily via WhatsApp - but that wasn't necessary. She only checked in to ask if everything was okay. It takes less than five minutes by car to Triopetra Beach. You can also jog or walk to the beach if you want. The sea was around 20 degrees - so you could already swim and bathe wonderfully. There are three to four very good and nice taverns in the vicinity - all about 5-15 minutes by car. Larger shopping can be done in Spili - a nice, larger village with a great and famous trick water fountain - at the supermarket. Spili is reachable in about 30 minutes by car. A wonderful drive through the very beautiful landscape - which we love very much. This stay in Triopetra was already our fourth. We love the seclusion and that there is absolutely nothing going on. We were always accommodated in a different place. Amathianis has been our favorite so far. From the furnishings of the house, the location, and the very, very nice landlords - simply top. If we come back to Triopetra, we would very much like to stay at Amathianis again. Best regards to Eleni and the family!
