Description
The detached stone house AMATHIANIS is set in a beautiful hillside location above the bay of Triopetra and offers a unique view across the southern coast of Crete and the Libyan Sea. The holiday house was named after the old district of Amathianis and is set in beautiful and quiet surroundings. The detached two-storey house is tastefully and comfortably furnished following the architecture of old Cretan farmhouses. There are several terraces, some in a sunny spot and some roofed with a pergola, that invite you to relax and chill and enjoy the wide open view across the sea. The large and enclosed nature property is partly terraced, covered with Mediterranean plants and olive trees and provides options for withdrawal and retreat.
Since the property is terraced it has a ground-level entrance to the first floor while the basement hosts some storage/utility rooms. From the outside the house looks rather rustic and country-style which matches the stone walls and the modern interior. From the living room you have a spectacular view across the hilly landscape of southern Crete and the blue sea. The spacious living room is connected to the half-open kitchen with a dining area. From the living room you have access to both bedrooms with a shared bath. The perfect spot to watch unforgettable sunsets is the private terrace in front of the living room. The roofed terrace is facing south-west and is wind-sheltered and privacy screened. Towards the side of the holiday house and on level further down there is another terrace with sunbeds.
There is lots of space for quality time together with family or friends to enjoy cooking, chilling and simply relax. Tranquillity, a comfortable living ambience, Mediterranean country idyll, spectacular views, magnificent sandy beaches and a very clean sea and a charming coastal landscape, is what you can expect in the holiday house AMATHIANIS.
The distance to the next village Akoumia is about 10km. The distance to Spili, where you have a wide choice of shopping facilities is approx. 20km. About 2,3km from the holiday houses, on the small and on the large beach of Triopetra, are some taverns.

Very nice located house with lovely view from the mountains to the sea. Quiet and peacefull located, several good restaurants at the beaches. very clean house and well equipped. We would definately come again. Very friendly hosts.

As always, it was a wonderful vacation on the south coast. We always like to come back, the landlords are very nice and take care of everything necessary immediately if needed. Of particular value this time was also that you can sit comfortably in the cottage, which is not always the case in all holiday homes. Especially in autumn, the weather can be cool in the evenings, so you learn to appreciate a cozy spot. The rainproof terrace is also of some value, not found everywhere. We will gladly come back. The holiday home was wonderful. We were warmly welcomed by the landlady and felt very welcome. The landlady lives not far from the house with her family, so there are contact persons nearby if needed. She speaks very good English and communication went very well. The house is fantastic and the view is incredible. In a quiet and rather secluded location, it was easy to relax. All windows and doors are equipped with insect screens. There are air conditioners in each of the two bedrooms. The lush outdoor area and the terrace invite you to enjoy beautiful evenings under the open sky. There is also an outdoor shower, which is advantageous after a day at the beach or for cooling off. Overall, a great experience, would love to come back.

Amathianis is a lovingly and generously equipped accommodation with a wonderful view in absolute peace. We lacked nothing. The friendly hosts only speak Greek and the language of hospitality. However, their daughter, who lives in Athens, is happy to answer any questions by phone or Whatsapp. Two beautiful beaches and several taverns can be easily reached in about 2 km, the roads are paved. We would/will be happy to come back at any time.

The house was fantastic: clean, confortable, full of sun and with a breathtaking landscape. There is a wide open space where kids can safely play and adults can drink or eat something looking at the sunset or simply relax. The Landlords were of a unique kindness and made all was in their means to make our holiday unforgettable. It is highly reccomended. If all Your properties are at this level, surely we will come to another one for our next journey. Thanks to Eleni and to you all.

Of particular value this time was also the fact that one can sit comfortably in the cottage, which is by no means the case with all holiday homes. The house is beautifully located; it is wonderfully quiet there, the view from the terrace is fantastic, and if you just want to take a little walk, you can walk through olive trees on practically unfrequented paths from the house. The large refrigerator with its huge freezer compartment in combination with the oven (bake frozen bread!) is very practical. About 12 meters below the house is another small house on the property, where the landlord's father has stayed during the day; however, you practically only notice his presence when he brings you vegetables from the garden or other tasty treats (for which I thank you again). The house is well equipped with mosquito screens; however, further mosquito protection may be necessary if you want to sit outside at dusk. Conclusion: I can highly recommend the house, especially because of its location.

We were very enthusiastic about "our" house in the mountains! Great view of the sea, wonderful property, clean, nice hosts, everything great. If you want a bit of solitude but still pleasantly comfortable (air conditioning, large kitchen, etc.), this is the place for you!

We felt very comfortable in the house! It is very clean, lovingly furnished, very bright and spacious, well equipped with a wonderful view of the sea. The covered terrace - also with the fantastic sea view - is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the wonderful peace and quiet. Very friendly and attentive landlords. We would like to come back anytime!

Amathianis is a lovingly and generously equipped accommodation with a magnificent view in absolute tranquillity. We wanted for nothing. The friendly hosts speak only Greek and the language of hospitality. However, the daughter, who lives in Athens, is happy to answer all kinds of questions by phone or Whatsapp.
Two beautiful beaches and several tavernas are within easy reach in about 2 km, the roads are asphalted.
We would/will gladly come back at any time.

We stayed in this house for the second time and felt completely at home. The interior is very bright and lovingly decorated, the furnishings are excellent and the landlords are very friendly and caring. The terrace is quite sheltered from the wind (which can be a great advantage in this area ;-) and it is wonderful to sit and look at the sea and the mountains.

Very nice house with a wonderful, quiet location in Thiopetra. The terrace is ideally built with a view of the bay. We only had no strong wind on one day, but could still sit on the wind-protected terrace. It was very clean and the kitchen very well equipped with all the necessities. The landlords were nice and helpful. We had a relaxing and lovely time and will gladly come back.

Beautiful house and very friendly landlords, and finally a house where you can sit inside comfortably, this year it was cooler than usual, and we were forced to stay inside often in the evening. Very nice and quiet location, clean and well kept. The double bed is a bit narrow, but you can cope with that on holiday. The terrace has a rainproof roof, very pleasant, which we have experienced differently in many other houses. We are already looking forward to next year.

Casa accogliente e ben arredata con vista magnifica. È un piacere risiedervi anche solo per restare in soggiorno o sotto il portico a leggere e guardare il mare, circondati dal verde del giardino e del pendio della collina. Con pochi minuti in auto si raggiunge la spiaggia di Triopetra e rappresenta un comodo punto di partenza per esplorare la costa meridionale dell’isola. L’abbiamo lasciata con gratitudine e rimpianto.

The holiday home was wonderful. We were very nicely received by the landlady and felt very welcome. The house is gorgeous and the view incredible. In a quiet and rather secluded location it was easy to relax. All windows and doors are equipped with fly screens. There are air conditioners in both bedrooms. The lush outdoor area as well as the terrace invite you to spend beautiful evenings under the open sky. There is also an outdoor shower, which is useful after a day at the beach or to cool off.

We had a very pleasant stay in the Amathianis house. The house is much more spacious than the photos suggest. It was handed over to us super clean on arrival.
