In the centre of Großschönau amidst historic half-timbered houses with a view of the church. Quiet location. Großschönau is located in Saxony in the south-eastern corner of Germany, in the district of Löbau-Zittau directly on the border with the Czech Republic. With its districts Waltersdorf, Saalendorf and Herrenwalde, Großschönau has 6416 inhabitants (as of ) and occupies an area of 23.87 km². Großschönau lies 350 m above sea level with the coordinates 50°54' N, 14° 40' ßschönau is 108 km by road from Dresden, 46 km from Bautzen and 45 km. from Görlitz. There are many ways to get there. The most convenient way to reach Großschönau by car from Dresden is via the A4 motorway. Leave the motorway at the Bautzen Ost exit and follow the B6 to Löbau. Before Löbau, take the Löbau bypass and turn right at the end of the road towards Ebersbach. There, too, use the bypass and drive in the direction of Leutersdorf. In Leutersdorf follow the signs to Großschönau. Alternatively, you can also take the train to Großschönau. If you want a timetable information you can click the following button. Beautiful house, but not five stars.
The island house itself has been beautifully restored, and the bathroom is really nice. There are also high-quality appliances and furniture. Unfortunately, it seems that both the garden and the interior of the house are neglected. We spent two weeks here in the summer of 2023, and there are no flowers blooming as beautifully shown in the photo, everything is dried out, weeds or not planted. Upon our arrival, there were still bags of glass and plastic waste left on the property by the previous tenant. Unfortunately, the double bed creaks so loudly that one cannot move on it without making noise, making restful sleep impossible. The refrigerator was completely frozen, which a cleaning person should have noticed. Old vinegar and oil bottles from four or five years ago were lying around. It would have been nice to have a few more knives and a pair of scissors in the kitchen. It would have been five stars, or simply caring that there are not empty salt and pepper shakers and soap dispensers filled with water lying around. These are small things that would really round off the charm of the otherwise great house. Very unfortunate!
Unfortunately, there is a lot of speeding on this 30 km/h zone street, and one should consider that small dogs can slip under the three garden doors, but the landlord cannot be blamed for that. Otherwise, the area is fantastic for hiking and exploring the tri-border region, and the people here in Großschönau are really friendly and open-minded. If you put a little care back into it, the cottage is really cute.

Liebe Frau K., vielen Dank für Ihre intensive Bewertung. Was den Müll betrifft haben Sie recht, dies ist auf Grund unserer Ferienabwesenheit leider nicht durchgeführt worden. Das Doppelbett knarzt nach unserer Liegeprobe incl. entsprechender Beanspruchung ?nicht. Alles andere kann man bemängeln , muss man aber nicht.
