Außergewöhnlich

Exceptionally beautiful house with good equipment in a dreamlike, secluded location. Very good tips from the landlord for excursions in the area. Ardeche, Cevennes, old villages, the markets...everything as always. Lots of charm that has not been affected by Corona. The only restriction: you have to wear a mask while shopping. At the border, there were neither waiting times nor controls.
Tip for getting to the house: Fold in the side mirrors :-)

Between the Cevennes and Provence.

We spent two weeks in Chatibot at the end of August/ beginning of September. The appeal of the region lies in its border location between the relatively unknown mountain range of the Cevennes and the "classic" Provence. The house itself is an exceptional blend of a historic property and modern amenities. There is plenty to experience and explore here if you appreciate stunning landscapes and French way of life away from the tourist crowds. Unfortunately, the area was classified as a Corona risk area on our second-to-last day of vacation. Therefore, on our way back to Freiburg after crossing the border, we got tested at the Neuenburg Ost parking lot. The whole procedure took about 45 minutes, and we received the (negative) test result 24 hours later.

Very good!!

We were a group of 4 friends (ages 21-26) and we can definitely recommend the accommodation! The place is really nice and quiet. You can relax very well on the terrace and the evening sky is phenomenal. The owner (Mr. Gihr) is very friendly and helpful, he gave us a list full of recommendations (e.g. for city sightseeing, suitable places for fishing and swimming, weekly markets, etc.). ) was always available, had answers to all our questions, brought us fresh French pastries every morning, and was always in a good mood.
Cities like Nîmes and Avignon are easily accessible by car, as well as the sea.
We had a very nice and relaxing holiday.
However, we recommend staying longer than a week, as one week is not enough to see everything.
We will definitely come back!

I love Chatibot - always beautiful!

We were already at Chatibot for the fourth time, in the La Magnagnerie apartment. What can I say: arriving and feeling at home. Chatibot is such a great house surrounded by a beautiful property. Simply fantastic! The landlord, Mr. Gihr, gives great tips for activities and excursions. We also discovered a lot of new things this year. The daily bread service is also very pleasant. We spent another beautiful week at Chatibot. We didn't notice anything of the corona pandemic in this idyllic place and were able to relax excellently. For us it's clear: we will come back :)

Honeymoon par excellence

Dream of every romantic heart

The beautiful little castle Chatibot ("beau!!!"), as I dreamily call it, knowingly of the actual name composition of Chateau and Ribot, served excellently as a gift for my daughter's 18th birthday. Waking up from a Sleeping Beauty slumber (parenting time), my love for France, for detail, for beauty and enjoyment was kissed awake again... With a lot of attention to detail, Mr. Gihr has restored this wonderful estate from the 17th century. The weather mostly played tricks on us, but that couldn't diminish the charm of the house, hosts, and location of this idyllic setting! We stayed in La Bastide with a huge covered terrace, fully equipped kitchen, many cozy seating areas, even TV and radio, beautiful bathrooms, including a tub, fireplace, and even a fire pit. This setup allows for enjoyment even on rainy days! Furthermore, I can only underline everything that my predecessors have said. Mr. Gihr also puts together successful programs for you on request, makes suggestions, and has insider tips as a local. As a nature lover and hiker, I will certainly return soon to this magnificent and sensory place. Thank you very much, Mr. Gihr!

Holiday like God in France

Defying nature, this historic chatibot stands at the top of a hill. Even the way there has its charm. From the time of yesteryear, lovingly and laboriously managed by the people of today, for the guests of today. Mr Gihr knows the region with all its beauties and is ready to share his competent knowledge with his guests. Unobtrusively helpful, the guest feels that he is welcome. If you wish, a baguette or other delivery service is offered. Then the day can begin, whether it is an excursion to the natural beauty of the region. Visit a town, a historical village, hike or ride a mountain bike to the top. Unfortunately I didn't have my motorbike with me.
French markets invite you to taste and marvel. If you don't find something for yourself here, it's your own fault, or ask Mr Gihr for a tip.
In nearby Saint Ambroix, an excellent French family restaurant was recommended to us. We enjoyed the evening at a reasonable price. This was my first holiday where I found the peace and quiet to read a good book. But what should I write much here. Take a look at the pictures on the website and get an idea of the holiday in a fantastic place.

Dreamy even in September

We spent a fantastic 2 weeks in September in the flat La Magnerie with its wonderful roof terrace and great weather throughout. The location and the lovely furnishings of Chatibot are exceptional and definitely have addictive potential. The landlord, Mr Gihr, looks after his guests in an unobtrusive but very professional and friendly manner. He always has very good tips for things to do in the near and far surroundings and places that you wouldn't find otherwise. He adapts to the individual preferences and wishes of his guests. As a geologist, I have found an El Dorado of extraordinary dripstone caves, some with ancient cave paintings, thanks to his suggestions. Not to forget the daily baguette service! The surroundings at the edge of the Cevennes are fantastic, the bathing places in various rivers recommended by Mr. Gihr are also fantastic: be sure to pack bathing shoes! We returned home deeply relaxed and will definitely be back!

Traumhaft

We have often spent our holidays in France, but this is one of the most beautiful corners of France. All three major rivers, Cèze, Ardèche, and Gardon, with many swimming opportunities are easily accessible. The mountains of the Cevennes are practically at the doorstep, and the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean Sea are about 130-140 km away. You are in the best hands with Detlef Gihr here. He knows every corner and is happy to advise and cater to the wishes of his guests. So we were able to enjoy a exciting and relaxing holiday here without much reading. We stayed at La CITERNE, a lovingly restored and well-equipped apartment, very clean, with plenty of space for two people and of course the beautiful terrace outside the door. We really enjoyed the bread service and the good care from Mr. Gihr. It is worth mentioning the competence of our host, we wanted to stay for two weeks but unfortunately La CITERNE was already booked in the second week. But we were immediately offered the Maison DeRibot next door, which we then booked. With its help, the move was quickly completed. Thank you very much for that. Everything was perfect here. We will gladly come back to this quiet, beautiful place.

We can also only report positive things about our stay at Chatibot. A wonderfully beautiful property, perfectly maintained, beautiful plants, pure idyll. After countless vacations in the Luberon, we wanted to discover a different part of southern France this year. And we were not disappointed. Thanks to Mr. Giehr's personally planned tours, we were able to get to know the Cevennes in a "French" way, away from the tourist crowds, despite the holiday season. In two weeks, we were only able to discover a small part: Nîmes, Ardèche, Pont du Gard... Particularly worth mentioning is the beautiful landscape with its old villages and, of course, the enchanting water spots that invite you for a swim. Our landlord's care was excellent! Invisible yet present, offering us tips. He lives his dream, wholeheartedly involved... Hats off!

Aktivurlaub

We rented the large and very beautiful apartment "La Magnagnerie" for 3 weeks. Since we had rented many vacation rentals throughout France, we think we can assess the overall quality quite well. As we are adventurous vacationers, the many excursion tips from Mr. Gihr were very welcome to us. This is how we found our favorite swimming spot, which we wouldn't have found without these directions despite our travel guides. We also took days off, the large sun terrace and the covered part of the terrace invited relaxation. Chatibot with its wonderful large property is centrally located for vacationers who want to explore as much as possible of beautiful Southern France. The Ardèche is quite close, the Tarn a bit further away, and the stunning Cevennes mountains are also easily accessible. Also Nimes and the Camargue with their huge beaches are easily accessible for day trips. The breakfast service with delicious baguettes and croissants is worth mentioning. In conclusion: It was one of our most beautiful vacations! We were happy with our decision to book for 3 weeks. You can manage the narrow passage at the entrance or park a bit further from Chatibot. Thank you!

Perfect Accommodation

I was there in April with my daughter (2 years old) and my dog. We were welcomed very kindly. The beautifully landscaped garden is available to all guests, and having a dog was not an issue at all. I stayed in the smallest accommodation (la Citerne) and I can only say that it is even more beautiful than in the photos. If you are looking for a blend of old and new, along with tranquility and a wonderful landscape, then this is the perfect place. I will definitely come back and am already looking forward to it.

Christmas and New Year in a completely different way

In a dreamlike setting, we were able to experience an extraordinary Christmas time in Chatibot and escape the dreary German winter and Christmas stress. Walking in sweaters and enjoying newly budding plants also sweetened our New Year. Warmly welcomed and cared for, we can recommend Chatibot to anyone as a family with dogs who wants to experience the enchanting nature of the Cévennes in a romantic atmosphere. A highlight for the whole family was the fireplace in the living room, as well as running barefoot across the meadow in January. Always happy to do it again :)

Unser romantisches Traumschloss

What is better than very good? Of course, "CHATIBOT."
Nature and culture at every turn, the house outside romantic and inside modern furnished and very well equipped, everything just great!
As an active protected area manager (Auenverbund Wetterau), at 76 years old, I could discover something new here every day, and my wife at 74 years old could relax and enjoy nature. The Gihr family was always friendly and helpful, and the bread service delivered fresh bread to our table every morning, which was simply fantastic. Unfortunately, the 14 days passed by much too quickly; our numerous pictures help to keep the memories alive. We can only recommend packing your bags and going there.

Wunderschönes Chatibot

When you think there is nothing left, suddenly it appears like a medieval castle: Chatibot.
Impressively and stylishly restored - and a place where we felt welcome and taken care of...
Mr. Gihr is less of a landlord and more of a host, unobtrusive, with great tips that lead to places that would otherwise have remained hidden.
We felt very comfortable and hope for a reunion.

Grossartig

Apart from the beautiful accommodation, this area is a real dream! Whether hiking, swimming, or lazing around, everything is absolutely wonderful here! The landlord is a cool guy and always has valuable tips. A must for you motorcyclists, I went there with my motorcycle, so go there! The landscape is truly impressive! Detlef, the landlord, rides a motorcycle himself and provides great route plans. I will definitely go back there.

Simply fantastic

I am probably just repeating what has already been said: a dreamy accommodation! We have never had anything like this as a vacation rental. After the first week, we had to move from the modern apartment "la Magnagnerie" (which spans two levels) to the completely different, original "la Bastide" because we booked too late. We cannot even say which is more enchanting. Both apartments have so much charm, are so tastefully furnished!!! And then the dreamy property with the view into the valley. We felt incredibly comfortable, which surely also had something to do with the landlord (and his nice family): very communicative and helpful, we learned a lot about the region in many nice conversations. On the other hand, Detlef Gihr also absolutely leaves the guests their peace. The location is ideal because one can reach the area between the Cevennes and the Rhone, as well as the Cevennes or the Camargue / the Mediterranean in a fairly short time. We would have liked to stay another 3rd week spontaneously, but unfortunately, everything was fully booked. So, we have to come back soon! Thank you for everything, dear Detlef!

Einmalig und unvergesslich

We were very fascinated by the house and felt very comfortable. The rooms are very tastefully decorated with love. Despite the small windows, it is very bright because large windows were installed in the roof. The underfloor heating provided pleasant warmth. We lacked nothing. Mr. Gihr was very helpful and also helped us with a problem with the car. His tips for exploring the area were great and led us to places that were beautiful. Here you can really unwind, and those seeking peace will find it here. It's certainly adventurous for kids to stay in the castle, which was also the case for us. The property is huge and there is much to explore. At night, you can hear the owls and during the day, if you pay attention, you can watch the kingfisher by the water. The surrounding nature is wonderful. We rested very well. We thank Mr. Gihr for his many tips, his helpfulness, and the guidance through the Chatibot. A very likeable landlord. We will certainly not be there for the last time. Recommendation: Thumbs up!

Winter vacation in Provence/Cévennes

Unforgettable New Year's Eve 2016/17

All expectations were far exceeded. The host, Mr. Giehr, provides an all-around worry-free package for his guests. The entire property is like a Sleeping Beauty castle and must be conquered as such. Despite this romance, there is pure luxury in the lovingly renovated historic building. Excursions to beautiful Southern France are quickly accessible by car, and there is something for every interest.

Chatbot - Vacation to relax!

We arrived as a couple with a city dog and left relaxed and refreshed. Every morning, fresh baguette, croissants, or other pastries were available upon request. We felt very comfortable. The apartments are simply beautiful, with the bedroom pleasantly cool during summer heat (we had the smallest apartment). The lovely, large garden offers a perfect spot for all needs. But the best part are the excellent suggestions for activities from Mr. Gihr, which were always perfectly tailored to us. Our dog has a stiff knee joint and is old. Unfortunately, he couldn't enjoy the beautiful scenery. However, he was able to romp around in the large garden. This accommodation is perfect for guests who do not speak French, as Mr. Gihr is always there for his guests and also translates for them. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention that the knives for cooking are dull. It would be great if they could be sharpened. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming in rivers: pure nature! Culture: what more could you want?

Chatibot - Dream house in dream location

In August 2013, we spent two wonderful weeks at the holiday house Chatibot. The house is a dream, the huge garden divided into terraces invites you to relax and unwind. The approximately 300-year-old farmhouse made of solid stone has been lovingly restored by its owners and offers a beautiful atmosphere. The photos of the house on the internet do not promise too much and capture the atmosphere 100%. The landlords Catrin and Detlef live in the house and are available to guests for assistance and advice upon request. Thanks to their good tips and local knowledge, our vacation was never boring. Despite peak season, the Cevennes are not overcrowded, allowing us to enjoy relaxed cycling and car trips or swim in one of the rivers. The landscapes in the surrounding and further areas are absolutely diverse and varied. Destinations like Nimes, Avignon, Uzès, and even the Camargue are worth a day trip. Unforgettable will be our ride (by bike!) to Mont Ventoux (approx. 2-hour journey). Even guests who do not speak French do not need to hesitate to vacation there, thanks to the German owners Detlef and Catrin. Also great was the daily baguette service.

A wonderful property, too beautiful to just look at the surroundings, but they are truly dreamy.
The children can simply run around, explore, play...
The rivers in the area invite you to swim, the cities are absolutely worth seeing.
If it weren't so far to drive, we would go back right away.
Anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful house (castle, palace,...) should go to Catrin and Detlef.
We simply loved it.
