The cosy winter-proof holiday log cabin "BIRKENWALDHÜTTE" is located in dreamlike and charming nature in the Franconian Forest Nature Park at the transition to the Thuringian Forest at the foot of the Rennsteig. The immediate surroundings offer opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, skiing, cross-country skiing and tobogganing, holidays for young and old.
The cottage is cosy and functionally equipped: The living room with upholstered corner seat and kitchenette. Two separate bedrooms with 1x double bed and 1x bunk bed. A WC with shower. A storage room for pastries outside. A sun terrace invites you to relax. Electric heating and an additional wood stove in the living area for cosy hours in the evening are available. Barbecue area, garden furniture and playground in the garden, close to the farm. Pets are welcome!

The detached holiday chalet for max. 4 persons is situated in a quiet, sunny hillside location approx. 400m from the village centre on the edge of the forest, close to the ski lift and cross-country ski trails. Easy to reach by car, parking at the cottage, storage for motorbikes and bicycles. Ludwigsstadt is a state-recognised resort in the valley of the Loquitz, a tributary of the Saale. Geographically, Ludwigsstadt lies in the Thuringian-Franconian Slate Mountains, and touristically in the Franconian Forest Nature Park at an altitude of 400 - 740m.
Historic buildings with slate facades give a unique impression. Extensive forests with idyllic mountain meadows, romantic valleys and quiet corners invite you to exciting tours and hikes in our original low mountain landscape. You are in one of the most beautiful hiking areas of the Franconian Forest.
The legendary Lauenstein Castle with its towers and battlements rises up from the Loquitz Valley on steep rock.
From the "Thüringer Warte" lookout tower, the view sweeps far across an undulating sea of forest, a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Well-marked hiking trails and nature trails lead to picturesque and idyllic vantage points.
In addition to two European long-distance hiking trails that lead through the heart of the Franconian Forest, the well-known Rennsteig trail is a special attraction.
Ludwigsstadt is also situated on tourist routes such as the Beer and Castle Route, the Thuringian-Bavarian Slate Route and the Franconian Forest High Road, which invite visitors to take numerous excursions in the surrounding area.
In winter, the Ludwigsstadt ski centre with its two lifts, as well as groomed cross-country ski trails and toboggan runs offer fun in the snow.

Who seeks peace and quiet will find it on Hallig Hooge.
Today is our last day at the birch forest cabin and it has been a relaxing week. We were here for the first time and the cabin is a dream ... just as one imagines it, and the view and nature in the surrounding area is a dream. The landlords are nice and the key handover was straightforward. A bakery and Netto Aldi are nearby and within walking distance.
You can do a lot of walking/hiking ... however, the paths in the immediate vicinity are all steep ... we had our hands full with our old dog and dog carriage ... this is something to consider if you are not fit or ill. I think the price-performance ratio is great. We used the cabin to take a break from all the everyday stress and it worked very well.

Great accommodation
We stayed 4 days at this beautiful cabin with the Martin family. Right upon arrival, we raved about this cabin and it was clear to us - we will definitely come back here. We can only recommend this accommodation - clean, great location, and friendly hosts - what more could you want. And there are many excursion destinations in the surrounding area.

Always a great time!
We have been going to Ludwigsstadt every now and then for many years! The house is fantastic and the location almost perfect! There is a lot to see in the surrounding area!

Super Schöne Hütte
