Ugljan, with a width of up to 3.8 km and a length of 22 km, was already inhabited during Roman times. Catamarans and ferries sail daily from the Gaženica ferry port in Zadar towards Ugljan. The crossing takes about 25 minutes. You can easily reach Zadar by car via the highway, with a distance of 286 km to Zagreb. The nearest airport is located in Zadar. From here, you can either take public transport or a taxi to the ferry port.
The next option is the airport in
Split, which is 158 km away. The Zadar bus station is very well connected to all major European and Croatian cities. If you are traveling to your private accommodation by train, take the train to Zadar via Zagreb. Then continue with the ferry to your destination.

Sights in Ugljan
The island of Ugljan on the
Middle Adriatic is characterized by countless olive trees, picturesque sandy and pebble beaches, and the endless green of the surrounding hills. Just a few meters from the village is a Franciscan monastery dating back to 1430. The flower-decorated courtyard and a romantic monastery garden exude a picturesque flair. A must is the ascent to the mountain above Preko. Here lies the fortress of Sv. Miholvil, built in the 13th century. Although only a few ruins remain, they are still very worth seeing. From here, you have a breathtaking view of the island and, on a clear day, even to the coast of Italy. In Kali, everything revolves around fishing. Huge ships anchor in the harbor, bringing their catch to Zadar. There it is processed in the fish factory.
Also part of the Zadar County is the
island of Pašman, which you can reach via a bridge. Here, things are still very original and tranquil.
