The remote control of the television was fully equipped with batteries, which I found pleasantly surprising. The bathroom was clean with a tub plus shower combination. The heating also provided comfort on cool evenings.

The living room was spaciously designed and the terrace invited for a shared stay. We cooked some meals thanks to the complete kitchen equipment and parked directly at the entrance, which made many things easier. Definitely cozy for outings with friends or family.

What do you need to experience in Madrid & Surroundings?

From the time of the Habsburgs to Picasso in Madrid

In 1561, King Philip II moved his court from Valladolid in the province of Castile and León to Madrid. Start your city tour of the historic districts La Latina (the oldest and most winding part of the city) and Austrias, and their sights and attractions, at the Royal Palace. The Palacio Real is one of the largest palaces in Western Europe, nearly twice the size of Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Versailles. The Habsburgs once designed the district, creating distinctive buildings like the Puerta del Sol and the Palacio de Uceda, as well as magnificent squares like the Plaza Mayor and the Plaza de la Villa. The Royal Palace dates back to the 18th century and was first occupied by King Charles III. Among the museums, the Museo del Prado holds a special position. It is the nation's most important museum and one of the most famous museums in the world. Works on display include Old Masters El Greco, Velazques, and Goya, as well as Raphael, Titian, Dürer, and Bosch. Contemporary and modern art (classical modernism of the 20th century) can be seen at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS). In addition to works by Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, and Juan Gris, Picasso's most famous painting, Guernica, is exhibited here. The Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, currently under renovation, is a football stadium in the Chamartín district of the Spanish capital Madrid – a must-visit for sports enthusiasts. The Almudena Cathedral is also worth seeing. Rent a chic vacation rental, an apartment, a cozy holiday home, or a vacation rental in the city center with air conditioning and enjoy an unforgettable, cultural stay with your loved ones.

What can you experience in Madrid & Surroundings with children?

Flying over the city and visiting Antarctica

Admittedly – Madrid is not a destination for a beach vacation in Spain with its accommodation, holiday house, cozy apartment, or vacation rental. However, several exciting activities can be enjoyed with children in the city. It's never boring here. The Museum of Illusions near Puerta del Sol showcases optical illusions such as slanted rooms, holograms, or infinite spaces. Experience seeing and thinking in a whole new way. Then, take the cable car to the green city park Casa de Campo. Enjoy panoramic views over the historic districts from a bird's-eye perspective. The Parque de Atracciones offers excitement with jungle boat rides, roller coasters, or free-fall experiences. In Faunia, you can experience the natural world in a different way by exploring various ecosystems, but pack a thick sweater for the Antarctic section, where temperatures reach -5 °C. Choose the perfect vacation rental for your family trip to Madrid. Discover surrounding sights and attractions within close proximity and delve into Madrid's culture, art, history, and architecture. Don't miss the 1.43 km² Retiro Park on the eastern edge of Madrid's city center. A tropical garden awaits you in Madrid's Atocha train station's waiting hall. For shopping enthusiasts, stroll along Gran Via, one of Madrid's main shopping streets and boulevards, and make a detour to Plaza de Cibeles.

Where can I eat out in Madrid & Surroundings?

Tapas until late at night

Madrid's cuisine brings together culinary traditions from many regions of Spain. To sample everything from vegetarian dishes to meat, fish, sausage and ham specialties, cheese, and seafood, try tapas. Typical Madrid dishes include tripe stew (Callos a la madrileña), garlic soup (Sopa de ajo) with paprika, ham, and egg, pig's ears (Oreja de cerdo), and chickpea stew (Cocido madrileño). Madrileños usually eat dinner late, typically after 9 p.m., so if you dine around 7 p.m., you'll likely share the restaurant with other tourists. Enjoy a relaxing aperitif at Plaza de Santa Ana and watch the city's hustle and bustle. After dinner, continue to celebrate in the Huertas district, the former literary quarter, often until the early morning hours. Numerous restaurants are already waiting for you.

How do I come to Madrid & Umland?

Getting to Madrid, the heart of the Iberian Peninsula

Madrid, the proud capital of Spain, is centrally located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula. The best way to reach your vacation rental in Madrid from a private owner is by train or plane. Madrid-Barajas "Adolfo Suárez" Airport is Spain's largest, with excellent flight connections throughout Europe and around the world. From the airport, you can quickly access the city center by metro, commuter train, or express bus. Two long-distance train stations connect the capital with other Spanish provinces like Catalonia and Andalusia, as well as neighboring countries France and Portugal. The public transportation network within the city center is outstanding, making it easy to reach all of Madrid's sights from your vacation home. Book a cozy vacation rental, an apartment, or a holiday home with air conditioning and enjoy a relaxing vacation full of culture and architecture, attractions, and leisure. The perfect starting point for excursions during your family trip to Madrid is already waiting for you.
