We felt completely comfortable.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had a wonderful time in this holiday home and felt comfortable from the very first moment. The house is bright, cozy, and furnished with a lot of love. Everything you need for a relaxing vacation is available.

We particularly liked the quiet location. The holiday home was an ideal starting point for exploring Gotland. After our excursions around the island, it was always nice to return there and end the evening in a cozy atmosphere. The contact with the landlord was always friendly and uncomplicated. Everything was well organized, so we could enjoy our vacation completely relaxed.

We think back to our vacation very fondly and took many beautiful memories home with us. Thank you very much for the lovely time. We would come back anytime and can wholeheartedly recommend the holiday home.

Wonderful Gotland vacation in Ljugarn

As a couple, we had a wonderful vacation on Gotland. Ljugarn is perfectly located to explore the entire island and Farö by car. This way, we could conquer a piece of the island each day and also spend time by the water. Beautiful and diverse natural experiences brought us even closer to the island and our home in Ljugarn. Additionally, Ljugarn itself is very nice for dining out, having a cocktail, or enjoying fresh cakes from the bakery. The furnishings of the house are truly almost perfect. It was spotlessly clean and cozy. The terrace, enveloped in wild greenery, welcomed us in the morning. In the evening, autumn gradually made its presence felt, and we spent cozy hours in the house. Only the beach could be a bit closer.

We were very positively touched and reluctantly departed after 3 weeks, feeling well-rested.

Which sights are there in East Sweden?

The Most Beautiful Excursion Destinations in Eastern Sweden

Eastern Sweden is a region with a character unusual for Sweden. The jewel of Sweden, Öland, is connected to the mainland by the Öland Bridge. The island offers a breathtaking landscape with numerous orchids, dwarf plants, and extraordinary flowers. But the beautiful, white beaches are also a hallmark of Öland. At Solliden Palace, near Borgholm, the Swedish royal family spends their summer vacation every year. You should definitely visit the white palace, styled like an Italian country estate, during your vacation in a holiday home. The magnificent gardens are open to visitors. Öland, with a length of about 140 kilometers, is the smallest historical region in Sweden. The island's landmarks include about 400 windmills. The southern and northern tips are marked by the lighthouses Langer Jan and Langer Erik. Most vacation homes and apartments are located in Borgholm, the largest town on the island. The old civic hall houses the town museum, which provides insights into the interesting city history. In the summer season, the Öland Museum in the district of Himmelsberga opens its doors. The open-air museum consists of several four-sided farms and documents the living conditions of the 18th and 19th centuries. The largest windmill on Öland can be admired in Färjestaden. In Ölands Djur & Nöjespark, a fun pool and a zoo provide joyful hours. If you rent a private holiday home in Östergötland, you will encounter beautiful archipelagos, the coast of Lake Vättern, and Northern Europe's largest zoo. The former route of the Göta Canal, which runs through Östergötland, is also a popular excursion destination. Numerous rivers and lakes can be found in the central Swedish Snke and in the highlands of Östergötland. The most famous and largest lake is Lake Vättern. Notable cities in Östergötland include Motoala, Linköping, Vadstena, and Norrköping. An unforgettable adventure is a boat tour on the Göta Canal. The journey goes through countless locks. You can also take the tour by bicycle. Along the canal, there is a beautiful bike path with many guesthouses and cafes. A particularly great tip is the Östgöta archipelago with its over 8,800 islands, which invite you to dive, sail, swim, and relax. Here also lie many of the most beautiful holiday homes. Another tip is Bolmen with its two to three hundred islands, located in the west of Småland, amidst endless forests. Surrounded by numerous nature reserves, Lake Bolmen and its surroundings are the ideal starting point for hikes and wilderness tours.

What do you need to experience in East Sweden?

Idyllic Archipelagos Meet Secluded Swimming Lakes

Eastern Sweden, the land of lakes, forests, and moose, offers its visitors cultural and scenic highlights. It's no wonder that the Swedish capital Stockholm is also called the "Venice of the North." Visit the royal palace, take romantic walks, and let the breathtaking nature captivate you. A highly recommended museum in Stockholm is the Vasa Museum, where the only preserved 17th-century shipwreck is displayed. If you have time, also pay a visit to the vibrant cultural metropolis Gothenburg. Sweden's second-largest city is known for a rich cultural offering. In the city museum, you can learn everything about the history of the city and its rise to an important trading port. From the port city, it's just a stone's throw out to a breathtaking archipelago. No matter where you rent a holiday home in Eastern Sweden, the wonderful experiences will never be forgotten.

Where can I eat out in East Sweden?

Swedish Culinary Delights

The Swedish specialty Köttbullar is probably familiar to everyone. They are made half from pork and half from beef and are served with or without gravy depending on the region. Accompanying them is a compote of tart lingonberries, called Lingonsylt. Another Swedish specialty is the low-fat meat from moose. Moose meat is mostly prepared as goulash or steak or processed into sausage. The dish Jansons frestelse is a potato casserole made with cream and onions. The spicy flavor of this Swedish potato gratin comes from anchovies. Swedish food culture also includes street kitchens. Although the offered sausages with mashed potatoes may not be to everyone's taste, you should try it at least once during your stay in a holiday home.

What can you experience in East Sweden with children?

Following the Footsteps of Pippi Longstocking

In Eastern Sweden, many vacation apartments are rented privately and affordable holiday homes for a family-friendly vacation. Hardly any other country offers so many recreational activities all year round like Sweden. On your travels, you will experience fascinating, untouched nature, interspersed with countless lakes. The children's book author Astrid Lindgren has not exaggerated in her descriptions of the carefree lives of Swedish children and the idyllic nature. In Småland, the amusement park "Astrid Lindgren's World" attracts visitors, while the city of Växjö, with the Glass Museum, represents the center of Eastern Swedish glass art. The open-air museum Gamla Linköping is located in the city of Linköping and is Sweden's largest urban open-air museum. In the old wooden town, there are about 100 buildings that were moved here from the center of Linköping in the 1940s and 1950s. The small city district houses marketplaces, narrow alleys, and backyards. There are also small craft shops, a bank and school museum, cafes, and a chocolate museum. Additionally, you can visit a bookbinder, a weaving mill, meditate in the herb garden, or take a look inside the woodwind workshop. Visiting Pippi Longstocking, seeing moose, or harvesting chanterelles: Eastern Sweden is an eventful travel destination where boredom is a foreign word. The sun and sandy beaches make the Baltic Sea island of Öland one of the most popular vacation regions in Sweden. Here, your children can romp around and make friends to their heart's content. Another pleasure for the whole family is the amusement park Gröna Lund in Stockholm. But not only for a trip with children, but Eastern Sweden is also excellently suited for a vacation with a dog.

What is a must-see in East Sweden?

Art and Culture in Stockholm's Old Town

Of course, culture is also not to be missed. The current Gamla Stan was the actual Stockholm in past centuries. From the former nucleus of Stockholm, the city expanded. In Gamla Stan, significant buildings such as the German Church, the Royal Palace, and Storkyrkan, where Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling exchanged vows in 2010, are located. But Stockholm's Old Town has even more to offer: narrow alleys, small squares with craft shops, cafes, and galleries, as well as old gabled houses painted in earth colors, all exude a very special flair. The modern private museum Fotografiska is located at Stadsgårdkaj in the port of Södermalm, right by the water. In the former customs house, the exciting world of contemporary photography unfolds. If you are in Stockholm during the Christmas season, you should definitely visit one of the numerous Christmas markets. Not only in the Old Town, but also in many manor houses and castles, traditional Christmas markets also take place.

How do I come to Eastern Sweden?

Quick and Convenient Travel to Eastern Sweden

You can reach your vacation apartment or holiday home from Germany by car via convenient ferry connections. However, Sweden is also easily accessible by land via the Öresund Bridge. If you value an environmentally conscious and simultaneously relaxing holiday, travel by train to your accommodation. From Hamburg via Copenhagen and then to Stockholm, it takes about twelve hours with Deutsche Bahn. Stockholm Airport is served by many German airports.
