Between Brittany and Vendée and in the heart of the Retz peninsula, Pornic is the southernmost of the Breton ports. The town and the harbour form a single entity that is constantly developing within a radius of 14 km around the historic medieval town centre and the typically "Belle Epoque" seaside resort districts, and remains very active all year round. The cliffs, some of which are 30 m high, resemble an open balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and serve to divide the original coast of Armorika into numerous bays of white sand.
