Due to the historical building fabric, the private house is different from other holiday homes.
The rooms have been carefully adapted to today's standards. Wooden beams, magnificent sandstone frames and wooden floors encompass historical pieces, playfully combined with comfortable seating and sleeping arrangements and pleasant lighting. Bathroom and kitchen were thoughtfully designed: shared cooking sessions remain a fond memory.
Ground floor: Entrance area with toilet. Open, very well-equipped kitchen with door to the terrace. Spacious living room with Swedish stove and door to the garden. Dining room with large dining table. The continuous room connection with underfloor heating and open timber framework offers a loft-like atmosphere.
Upper floor: 5 bedrooms. Of these, 2 double bedrooms with an additional single bed. 2 double rooms and 1 twin room.
3 bathrooms with toilet, shower, and washbasin. One of them is connected to two of the bedrooms.
If your group is larger than 12 people and/or extra bedrooms are desired, 5 comfortable, spacious bedrooms + 2 shower/WC can be booked additionally in the connecting building.
WOOD CHIP HEATING:
Since April 2016, the facility has been supplied with heat and hot water by a central system. This ecologically responsible type of heating was chosen for the sake of all our environment.
Comfortable room temperature is ensured, underfloor heating on the ground floor.

In the Hassberge Nature Park with neighboring Thuringia, the Birkenfeld castle complex is a romantic retreat in nature. Peace, relaxation, affordable living, and interesting excursions.
Private garden and terraces; the private pool is available to our guests in summer, as well as trampolines and sandbox. In rainy weather or great heat, the small vaulted room by the pool garden with table tennis and foosball is a popular retreat. The small village of Birkenfeld was, until 1972, the smallest market town in Bavaria.
Surrounded by forests and meadows, in the Hassberge Nature Park, time here still moves at a leisurely pace.
In neighboring Thuringia, 4 km away, historically significant facts and cultural events can also be vividly experienced by children.

A wonderful place with historic charm and all the comforts.
We enjoyed the 3 days in the carriage house and in the beautiful nature around it very much. A wonderful place to come together with friends or family and simply "let the soul dangle." In our case, where guests traveled from various directions, it was ideally located. Great for us in the cold season was also the cozy atmosphere with the constantly blazing fireplace. The bedrooms are each unique and very cozy. We had the full "hotel comfort." The children also immediately felt completely "at home" in the house and yard. The kitchen is very well-equipped to cook and dine together for a large number of people; we lacked nothing. Moreover, the countess was always there for support, advice, and recommendations when needed. We were somewhat surprised upon arrival by the very limited mobile phone reception, but the hostess has a charming solution for that, as a rarity of a landline telephone is available in the house. ;-) And the best part: No departure stress on the last day, as one knows it from other places. We were able to enjoy Sunday to the fullest and pack up relaxed before heading home sometime in the afternoon. Thank you very much to the friendly count and countess. We are happy to come back!

Dreamlike!
Who appreciates the aura of old buildings, who has a sense for exciting architecture, who is looking for plenty of space for a large family or group under one roof, wants to host a celebration in a special atmosphere, enjoys cooking and serving festively, loves romantic views and idyllic gardens, needs play opportunities for the children, and at the same time seeks a lot of peace - should definitely book the Wagnerei.
We felt completely comfortable. The ambiance is wonderful: meadows, hills, trees, a stream, the spacious courtyard of the castle complex, gardens, and flowers. The old carriage house has been lovingly and cleverly renovated and offers comfortable accommodation for 12 people in double and triple rooms. A well-equipped kitchen provides all possibilities for demanding cooks, and the dish cupboard is well stocked; nothing is missing. Around the heavy wooden dining table, everyone can gather, as well as around the tables in the courtyard and garden. One can comfortably sink into the sofas that form a circle in the middle of the tall living room. The noble family is courteous and helpful while also being reserved. Those who seek peace will find it here. We can highly recommend this wonderful house.

Your hostess comes from ,from the Amsterdam-region with its mills,tulips and all. Since 1992 she and her family are so lucky as to live in Birkenfeld. House,compound an surroundings offer the wonderful surprises one looks for in countryside- based novels. The close neighbourhood with Thüringia also is a never ending source of rewarding exploration. Just come and see it all,it is so much worth it!!
