Welcome to Joli Sauvage in the French Ardennes, a beautiful region where time seems to stand still. An ideal place to relax.
Enjoy the silence, the unspoiled nature, and the tranquility. Take a walk or explore the hilly landscape by bicycle or motorcycle.
Immerse yourself in the culture of one of the nearby towns. Admire the breathtaking starry sky and the Milky Way with a good glass of wine. Come and experience it for yourself! We look forward to your visit.

THE HOLIDAY HOUSE:
You will stay in a romantic holiday house with a separate entrance and an unobstructed view of meadows, garden, and trees. Sustainable construction methods were taken into account during its construction in 2023. The holiday house is 28 m² in size and ideal for 2 (maximum 3) people. The cozy room is comfortably furnished and consists of an open living/sleeping area with kitchen, dining table, and a sitting area with two comfortable armchairs. This room features a comfortable bed (160 x 200 cm) and a small gallery with a second bed (140 x 200 cm). The luxurious bathroom can be separated by a wooden sliding door. The high ceiling (highest side 3.60 m) gives the room a spacious atmosphere. Two double doors to the garden and a skylight provide plenty of daylight. Outside, several terraces are available to you, one of which has barbecue facilities.

If you would like to bring your bicycle or motorcycle, please let us know. We will then provide you with a parking space in our locked shed, where you can store your belongings safely. Tools are also available, should you need them unexpectedly. Pets are allowed by prior arrangement and for an additional fee, provided they are well-behaved and pose no danger to our cats, Indian runner ducks, and the wildlife on our property.

* Kitchen table with 2 chairs and a wooden bench, sitting area with 2 comfortable armchairs, bed (160x200 cm), bed (140x200 cm), infrared heating panel, French windows with a beautiful garden view. * Modern kitchen with dishes, kitchen utensils, pots, porcelain sink, Senseo coffee machine and kettle, combination grill/microwave, 2-burner induction cooktop, mini extractor hood and retro refrigerator with freezer compartment.
* Walk-in shower, antique oak washstand with basin and mixer tap, wall-mounted toilet, hairdryer, hand towels and bath towels, fan with humidity sensor, bathroom heater. * In front of the holiday home there is a terrace with a nostalgic garden furniture set (table and 2 chairs) and a large sun umbrella. A second terrace with pergola, garden table, chairs, and grill.
Additionally, there is a terrace with hanging chairs, fire pit, and 2 movable wooden loungers with sun umbrella.

THE ESTATE:
In the French Ardennes, in a small hamlet, lies our estate, which we acquired in 2014. Next to an old, dilapidated house there was also a magnificent nature reserve with two ponds. The house has since been renovated and extended with an annex containing the holiday home (2023).
The property covers 1.5 hectares, most of which are and will remain a nature reserve. It is an ideal habitat for a wide variety of wild animals. We regularly observe deer, wild boar, foxes, squirrels, and various birds of prey. Carp, wild ducks, and occasionally even a nutria swim in the large pond. Therefore, it is not particularly suitable for swimming.
However, you can enjoy the untouched nature, the silence, the singing of the birds, and the rustling of the leaves. A walk around the lake is a wonderful way to start the day (the best opportunity to observe wildlife). Or simply relax with a good book until evening falls and it becomes too dark to continue reading ...

Location and surroundings of object

Montgon is a small rural community with 75 inhabitants in the heart of the lock valley (Vallée des écluses) of the Canal des Ardennes. Situated amidst a hilly landscape, it belongs to the Ardennes-Argonne region, which is rich in forests, rivers, meadows, and fields. The area covers 8.1 km² (9 inhabitants per km²).
The 88 km long canal was built around 1830 and connects the Meuse with the Aisne. Between Le Chesne and Rilly-sur-Aisne (a distance of 12 km) there are 27 locks (!). ), of which 17 are located in the area of Montgon.

There is much to discover and experience in the immediate surroundings. The landscape is ideal for challenging cycling or hiking tours. Alternatively, a day trip to the old town of Reims is also an option. Or how about a visit to one of the many museums, a refreshing swim in Lac de Bairon, or a leisurely stroll through one of the numerous flea markets on the weekend?
