Description
Vacation is for letting your soul unwind. Here in our small holiday cottage with its own garden on the edge of the Dübener Heide, you will find everything you need for a relaxing stay on approx. 65 sqm. Individually and comfortably furnished with a terrace and private garden, our gem invites you to enjoy nature and your vacation, even with children and the family dog. Even on rainy days, you can sink into foreign novel worlds here in the deep, well-lit reading chair, meditate, or listen to music.
Or enjoy great films on the big screen, wrapped in blankets on the ultra-cozy sofa. In our large DVD collection, almost everyone finds something for a cozy movie night. You can also bake wonderfully fragrant cakes or conjure up a five-course menu—just as you like. The holiday home on the edge of the Dübener Heide is family-friendly and ideally suited for couples or families with 1-2 children. The garden is spacious and fully fenced, so you can enjoy a stress-free time even with small children or the family dog. It is especially suitable for nature lovers who want to explore the Dübener Heide on extended hikes or feel the wind on their faces in the Elbe meadows. The forest nature pool nearby invites you to visit. Those who are more interested in culture will get their money’s worth in the Renaissance cities of Wittenberg and Torgau. Here, you can walk in Luther’s footsteps, visit the place where Katharina Luther died, or the site where Samuel Hahnemann founded homeopathy. On excursions through the beautiful nature park, you can observe beavers and cranes or succumb to the fascination of sundew in the moor. In some places, the white-tailed eagle circles majestically, and by now, wildcat and wolf have also returned here.

Location and surroundings of object
Mahlitzsch is a small Saxon village without large agricultural enterprises. Nevertheless, there are various animals on every farmstead, almost every yard is guarded by a farm dog, and the peaceful soundscape is mixed with the conversations of chickens, sheep, horses, and cows. Sometimes at night the tomcats fight, and in early summer the nightingales sing around the clock. The daily traffic that creeps through the village on the cobblestone road can usually be counted on ten fingers. Of course, here is the direct translation:
Naturally, we do not live in a museum and during harvest season one or another tractor rolls through the village.
For basic necessities, there is a Penny and a Netto market in Dommitzsch. More specialized products can be found at Kaufland in Torgau or at Edeka in Bad Schmiedeberg (approx. 15km).
Right after the village begins the Dübener Heide Nature Park. It extends in the southeast of Saxony-Anhalt and in the northwest of Saxony over an area of 75,000 ha. Embedded in the natural river landscapes of the Elbe and Mulde, the largest mixed forest in Central Germany invites you to hike through ice age-shaped hilly landscapes on over 500 km of marked trails. Anyone who wants to explore the surroundings only by bike can get on the international Elbe Cycle Route right behind the village and follow in Luther’s footsteps in the cities of Torgau and Lutherstadt Wittenberg or visit the places where historically influential figures worked. Torgau was a royal residence, and Hartenfels Castle towers visibly over the city.
Of course, our idyll also has its downside: arriving by car is recommended. The nearest bus stop is about 1.5 km away.

Mrs. F. Stoppel
We have been living here on this small old farm since 1997. We love nature and everything that crawls and flies. You can see that in our property. Nothing is perfect and much is improvised. We will never run out of work and we could tinker around for two more lifetimes. But what could be better than being able to realize your creative ideas and design your home entirely according to your own needs. Originally, the farm was an old sheep farm. There are several buildings on it, including the former barn, which is now our home, and the former residential building, which has now been converted into a holiday home. Anyone who wants to let their soul dangle here is in the perfect place.
