You can expect pure nature, tranquility, and animals in this natural paradise.
The Chambre Merisier with a large balcony and outdoor seating area was newly built in summer 2021. It is located on a private farm in the southern Vosges in the "Région des Mille Etangs" (Region of 1000 Lakes) in the French southern Vosges, about 1.5 hours by car from Basel and Freiburg i. B. away.
It was constructed using ecological building methods (natural lime plaster) as well as a lot of untreated wood. The approx. Breakfast (coffee or tea, bread, butter, jam, cheese, fruit, fruit juice, yogurt) is included in the price and will be brought to your room.
From the view of the room you can see our horse and goat pasture as well as the untouched nature and further back also the silver fir forest.
The large private property includes an 8,000 m² swimming lake in which you can swim or go boating wonderfully. A bathing jetty with deck chairs and a sun umbrella invites you to sunbathe. Here you can really let your soul dangle. The absolute peace at this magical place is unforgettable.
The Cherry Tree Room can be rented in summer and in winter. In winter, it also has a very special charm, especially during the Christmas season when it is decorated for Christmas with much love and has a very special touch. Various smaller ski areas can be reached in about 40 minutes by car: Ballon d'Alsace, La Bresse, Gérardmer, Gazon Rouge, Ventron, etc.

Location and surroundings of object
The plateau of the 1000 ponds (Région des milles étangs) is located in the southern Vosges. It is a beautiful nature reserve that was formed years ago by the retreat of the last glaciers of the Vosges. As early as the 11th century, monks began damming up many of these lakes and using them for fish farming. Thus, the region of the Mille Etangs counts as a protected area for endangered animal and plant species. It is part of the European Union's Natura 2000 network of protected areas.
Faucogney-et-La Mer is a small commune with about 600 inhabitants in the Haute-Saône department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It belongs to the arrondissement of Lure and the canton of Mélisey
La Mer is a small hamlet. Between the small town of Faucogney and the hamlet of La Mer is about 5 km. Our country house is situated between the two places on the highest point (about 580 meters above sea level) on a plateau a good km from La Mer.
In Faucogney you will find: tourist office, pharmacy, doctor, bakery, butcher's shop, German beer shop, small grocery store, post office, cash dispenser, restaurant, car garage, church etc. In summer there is a market with local products every Saturday from 16h - 20h in the pretty historic town of Faucogney.
In Mélisey (10 km) there is a large Belgian supermarket (COLRUYT) with a nice vegetable department and fresh meat sales. Also various other shops like bakery, pharmacy, butcher, flower shop, café are located in the small town of Mélisey which lies on the river Ognon. There are also several restaurants in Mélisey. Not far from Mélisey there is a very nice swimming pool with a slide for the children. You can also have fun at the nearby river.
There is a market in Mélisey on Wednesday mornings.
In less than 30 minutes by car you can reach the beautiful town of Luxeuil-Les-Bains where there is a thermal bath and various restaurants invite you to dine. In summer, there is a market with regional products, music, etc. on Tuesday evenings.
There are various excursion options for young and old
Bicycles (including e-bikes) can be rented at the Tourist Office in Faucogney and in Mélisey.
The region also has its own special charm in winter. Not far away (approx. 45 minutes by car) there are many smaller ski areas such as La Bresse, Ventron, Gazon-Rouge, Ballon d'Alsace etc. with ski lifts, snowshoe trails, cross-country ski trails etc
Belfort, Besançon, Montbéliard, Epinal, Remiremont, Gérardmer, Mulhouse, Nancy, La Bresse are excursion places which are reachable in +/- 1 hour.

Rest, nature and luxury.
On top of a hill with lots of forest in the surroundings and by a lake, we stayed for 5 nights in 'Chambre Merisier' including breakfast. Denise and Urs greet you very hospitably and have made something unique out of this location. If you're looking for peace, nature, and a bit of luxury, this is the place to be. The luxury lies in the breakfast and the beautifully finished room with a terrace. Because this room doesn't have a kitchen, we brought a small electric hot plate with us which worked very well for us. We were somewhat wary of insects, but that turned out to be unnecessary. We find this location with the cats, dog, goats, horses, and a tortoise unique and Denise and Urs can be proud of this location.
