Here you will find rest and relaxation in a comfortable, cozy, and family-run guesthouse. Our guesthouse offers 2 holiday apartments and 3 guest rooms. The large holiday apartment (up to 6 people) offers you a spacious living room, 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, and 2x shower/WC. The guest rooms for 2 persons each are comfortably and cozily furnished (extra bed possible). We serve you a substantial breakfast on request.

Location and surroundings of object
Have you ever explored Thuringia by bicycle? From Elgersburg, no problem. Our guesthouse is 2 km from the Gera Cycle Path, 5 km from the Ilm Valley Cycle Path, and 12 km from the Rennsteig Ridge Cycle Path. If your tour unexpectedly ends in a beer garden, the Südthüringenbahn will always bring you back to Elgersburg. You won't get bored here; thermal baths, adventure breweries, and city tours are just a few reasons. The guesthouse is located at the edge of the forest and is the starting point for wonderful hikes through the Thuringian Forest, as well as for skiing through an enchanting winter landscape in winter. Visit Elgersburg Castle, the Kickelhahn in Ilmenau, or historic towns such as Erfurt, Weimar, Suhl, Oberhof, or Eisenach with its Wartburg.
Elgersburg is situated on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest at an altitude of about 500 meters. The village is located in the north of the district area, which also includes extensive forest areas in the south reaching up to the Zwei Wiesen. The most prominent mountains in the local area are the 765-meter-high Hohe Warte with the Carl Eduard Tower and the 799-meter-high Rumpelsberg, the highest point of the municipality. Other mountains in the Thuringian Forest are the 769-meter-high Heidelberg, the 754-meter-high Brunschildskopf, and the 784-meter-high Leimbühl. From Elgersburg to Schmücke on the Rennsteig runs the historic Salzmannstraße, along which also lies the Mönchshof, a popular excursion restaurant. Other hiking destinations in the district include the Schöffenhaus, the Emmafelsen, the Wolfsstein, and the Marienquelle as well as the Sophienquelle. In the Körnbach valley above Elgersburg, in addition to the Piuttifels, are also the Goethefelsen as well as the Schloss- and Clementinenquelle. In the village itself lies a small hill on which Elgersburg Castle is located, which was once built to protect the Salzmannstraße. Northeast in the foothills of the Thuringian Forest lies the 549-meter-high Hirtenberg, and northwest between Elgersburg and Geraberg is the Mönchsheide. There are essentially three valleys in the district: the Körnbach Valley in the west between Hohe Warte and Geraberg, the Steigert Valley in the middle, beginning at the Sophien Spring, which also runs through the village and leaves it towards the Reichenbach Valley in the direction of Martinroda, and the Reichenbach Valley itself to the east of Elgersburg. It leads to Ilmenau-Roda upstream or to Martinroda downstream. The municipal area of Elgersburg is largely forested, with spruce being the predominant tree species. Only to the north of the village are there some meadows, which are used for pasture farming.

Holiday flat
Over Easter we had a family reunion with the Möller family, we felt very comfortable. The Möller family are open-minded and very friendly landlords.

Great accommodation and great landlords
We spent beautiful and relaxing days in Thuringia. The location is ideal for hiking, but there is also a lot to explore culturally.
PS. The plants we received as a gift have grown well!

We were 10 people (5 couples) for a week in the guesthouse. We all had a shower and toilet in the holiday apartment. The apartments were equipped with flat-screen TVs. The common lounge was quite large and very well stocked with dishes, adequately furnished for 10 people. This guesthouse is highly recommended.
