I booked this cottage to go to Terra Botanica. Obviously, I was looking for a quiet and spacious place for the children to play and be outdoors! Good location for day trips. We were very well received.

Due to the misleading information, we thought we had booked a cottage in or near Angers. However, it turned out to be located 45 km north in the middle of nowhere. Supermarket 25 minutes away. We called Belvilla about this, but despite promises, we heard nothing. The house was part of a beautiful estate, and in the evening you could see deer walking nearby. There was no reception by the owner, but the key was in the door. It looked nice and well-kept, and everything was clean. The large kitchen was well-equipped, but the cutlery was hard to find. There was a strong sewage smell in the bathroom, but that could be resolved by running water in the drain. The surroundings are very quiet. The black loose dog does nothing, but its barking/growling does not sound friendly. In the evening, we were plagued by hornets that managed to get inside the house. They were attracted to the light and crawled in under the door. We tried to keep them out with as little light as possible and blankets for the doors, but it didn't completely work. Reported to the owner, but he did nothing. We also left earlier.

We took day trips to Mont Saint-Michel and Angers, both were easy to reach. A small downside was that the WiFi was sometimes a bit unreliable, but honestly, it’s a great place to just disconnect! All in all, highly recommended!

The location is perfect for exploring the Loire region, and we took day trips to Angers and Mont Saint-Michel. Highly recommended!

Our family enjoyed a relaxing vacation here. The kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals. The living area was cozy, and we appreciated the privacy of our garden. The only downside was the distance from the nearest grocery store, but overall it was a great experience.

The owner (and both dogs ;-)) was very friendly. The house is beautifully situated in peace and quiet, you can make various excursions nearby: Le Mans, Angers, Chateau Brissac and Chateau Serrant. However, the double bed (slatted base is damaged) and chairs in the kitchen need to be replaced. We also recommend providing a drying rack and additional kitchen utensils.

Unfortunately this property is not at all as described and we were very disappointed when we holidayed there in April 22. The gite we booked, looked lovely in the photos, it listed all the amenities we look for and in the listing it mentions paying for heating at a cost of 8 Euros a night. When we got to the gite, it was absolutely freezing, we were told we would be charged for electricity (no mention of the cost), no tv and the whole house smelt damp. There were electric heaters in the 3 bedrooms and also in the shower room and main bedroom en-suite, however, there is no heating in the living room, kitchen, toilet and corridors. We were told to light the fire which would heat the house. We did manage to light the fire despite being left no fire lighting equipment (for instance kindling/fire lighters/newspaper etc) but it made very little difference despite being on for 5+ hours. The living room and kitchen went from 13C to 16C and then the temperature started falling. We were so cold we sat with multiple layers with blankets around us. We slept in 4 layers, including having to wear thick jumpers to bed. By the second day and despite contacting the owners, we were miserable and we also started to feel unwell due to the extreme cold and damp, which is not what is hoped when you book a holiday especially at over 1,000 Euros cost! Hence we left and returned home to the UK, something we have never had to do in over 10 years of booking holiday cottages. I would not recommend this gite to anyone, which is a shame as the area, from what we saw, looked to be good to explore. I would also not recommend booking anything through Belvilla, due to their terrible customer service.

Furthermore, lots of privacy and space around the house at your disposal. The children (7 and 5) enjoyed it. They have explored the entire domain and have been outside almost the entire holiday. Both owners are very friendly and attentive and always helpful. Various nice towns and beautiful chateaux viewed.

There were electric heaters in the 3 bedrooms and also in the shower room and main bedroom en-suite, however, there is no heating in the living room, kitchen, toilet and corridors. We were told to light the fire which would heat the house. We did manage to light the fire despite being left no fire lighting equipment (for instance kindling/fire lighters/newspaper etc) but it made very little difference despite being on for 5+ hours. The living room and kitchen went from 13C to 16C and then the temperature started falling. We were so cold we sat with multiple layers with blankets around us. We slept in 4 layers, including having to wear thick jumpers to bed.



By the second day and despite contacting the owners, we were miserable and we also started to feel unwell due to the extreme cold and damp, which is not what is hoped when you book a holiday especially at over 1,000 Euros cost! Hence we left and returned home to the UK, something we have never had to do in over 10 years of booking holiday cottages.



I would not recommend this gite to anyone, which is a shame as the area, from what we saw, looked to be good to explore. I would also not recommend booking anything through Belvilla, due to their terrible customer service.
