Description
The romantic, designed in bright and friendly colors "Maison de Maitre" was built at the end of the 18th century and has been renovated in some areas over the past few years, but without destroying the charm of old Provence and that of a typical summer house in the countryside. Two beautiful bedrooms are located on the 1st floor, the Chambre Josephine with a large double bed, the Chambre Pauline with 2 single beds, which can also be joined together. In the attic, there is another bedroom with a double bed, as well as a toilet/washbasin.
On the ground floor, there is the cozy living room with a large library, an open fireplace (firewood available), a TV set with German and international programs and DVD player, Internet/WLAN, and comfortable seating.
The eat-in kitchen on the ground floor is spacious and comfortably equipped, and offers a dining table for max. 6 people. 6 people, a gas stove, electric oven/grill, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer compartment, sufficient dishes etc.
A washing machine is available in the bathroom.
The bathroom is equipped with an "old style" bathtub, walk-in shower, and 2 sinks, and is located on the ground floor of the house along with the separate toilet. In the large garden with old trees, as well as many olive trees, cypresses, and herbs from Provence, there is a swimming pool (8x4x1.40m, step entrance), sun loungers, a "daybed", sun umbrellas, a hammock, a large dining table with 6 chairs, and many more seating options.
A prettily furnished pergola with lounging and seating accommodations invites you to comfortably read or even to have breakfast, should the weather not be so nice. A stone basin with a fountain also contributes to your relaxation.
A barbecue area (grill tray and plancha with gas connection) is also at your disposal.
Parking on the property for 2 cars (fenced area) is available, as well as various toys for the pool, footballs, basketball hoop, badminton, card games, craft opportunities, etc. for children.

Location and surroundings of object
The "Maison de Mathilde" is located in the small village of Propiac-les-Bains (formerly a spa town with currently about 140 inhabitants), which is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, fruit trees, and much untouched nature.
It is situated in a garden about 900 square meters in size, with olive trees, lime trees, and chestnut trees, as well as lavender beds and other herbs of Provence, such as sage, rosemary, and thyme.
From the house, many beautiful hikes such as, for example, to the nearby Buis-les-Baronnies or the spectacular Gorges de l'Ardèche can be undertaken. into the wild and romantic mountain scenery of the Baronnies or through the beautiful and spectacular gorge of the Toulerenc.
The surrounding area is ideal for nature lovers who like cycling, climbing, or hiking.
Especially the nearby Mont Ventoux is very popular among cyclists. In Buis les Baronnies, there is bicycle rental and rental for climbing equipment (Via Ferrata at St. Julien or also for rope climbing). The typical Provençal town of Buis-les-Baronnies (approx. 7km) offers variety and shopping opportunities, with its numerous cafes, restaurants, and small shops, as well as a very authentic weekly market on Wednesdays.
In Vaison-la-Romaine (approx. 15km), known for its Roman archaeological sites, you will find all the major supermarkets, as well as many cafes, bistros, restaurants, and souvenir shops. A very large and popular weekly market takes place there every Tuesday and often flea or antiques markets on weekends. In the summer, there are also many well-known music festivals and events in Vaison.
Further weekly markets are held in Nyons, Malaucène, and the other surrounding villages, where you can purchase typical specialties of Provence as well as fresh food, lavender oils and soaps, and souvenirs to take home. In the Toulerenc valley, one can swim, picnic, and hike through the river to small waterfalls or rapids in the summer.
Further swimming spots are located in the Gorge d’Ubrieux (near Buis les Baronnies), in the valley of the Ouvèze and along its course towards St. Auban sur l’Ouvèze, where you can also admire many lavender fields on the route to Sederon.

Pure romance
We spent the first week of July in this lovely, romantic holiday home. The house is furnished stylishly and with a lot of attention to detail. We lacked for nothing. The wonderful garden around the pool rounded off a week of very relaxing vacation. We will definitely come back.
