The house is located in a small residential/holiday home settlement Holmen, which is situated in northern Bohuslän directly on the border to Dalsland on a headland at the large lake Holmesjön between the towns of Munkedal( km) and Uddevalla () between the west coast and Lake Vännern.

Swimming possibility in the lake Holmesjön m from the house,here is a small sandy beach and a swimming platform, or from the bridge in the lake behind the house
gothenburg is only a few kilometres away, the Norwegian west coast with its beautiful archipelago is only a few kilometres away and Lake Vännern is also only a few kilometres away

Holiday in Swedish holiday homes - a realistic description-
You may be holidaying in a Swedish holiday home for the first time, so here are some explanations on how to deal with it
People who holiday in Sweden are usually looking for peace, nature and seclusion
Naturally, this nature and the long distances to the next larger town may not only have a positive effect. Our house in the Holmen settlement is in a very quiet location, but of course this also has its price.
The property is a natural plot with tall trees and rocks. We have not yet found anyone locally who can maintain the property. The lawn is mowed by an acquaintance, depending on the weather and condition, but that is all. Therefore, do not assume that the property will look as well-maintained as you are probably used to at home. However, we are always very happy about tenants who are tickled to lend a hand...:))
If something should break, it's similar to gardening: we don't have anyone on site to fix all the little things that happen in the house - and sometimes it's not as simple as changing a light bulb
There's a well-stocked toolbox in the house just in case
The issue of bicycles is similar; if everyone uses them without tightening a screw or filling the tyres with air every now and then, the bikes will eventually become almost unusable and the last tenants will be left out in the cold. That's why there are bicycle repair kits. We do not have the time to keep the bicycles in good condition and can therefore only make them available without any functional guarantee
Should something as serious as the total failure of a refrigerator or the hot water actually happen, please call us immediately and we will try to find an immediate remedy
But in the case of small things, immediate help is not always possible, and if you have a self-inflicted mishap, such as a toilet lid breaking, a shower curtain tearing off or a coffee pot breaking, then the easiest and quickest thing to do is to replace the damage yourself. If small items of daily use are broken due to wear and tear (coffee machine, etc.), we will probably ask you to buy a new item and charge us for it
However, holidaymakers who prefer a holiday in a Swedish holiday home to a stay in a hotel on the Italian Riviera or in Spain are usually practical and will glue together a broken chair before calling us or buy a new oarlock for the boat if the old one breaks.
So if you are looking for perfection in your holiday, if you are not prepared to show a little initiative if necessary and to make concessions in the care of the surroundings in favour of nature, but prefer to be served (which is perfectly understandable and legitimate on holiday!), you should either not book a house in Sweden, or if you do, then only in a holiday home settlement that is completely managed by a large organiser.
It also always becomes problematic if a tenant does not carry out any or only a very superficial inspection. It certainly happens sometimes that one forgets to clean a dustbin, oven or fireplace. But if everything has not been cleaned and the bathroom, kitchen and floor have only been left visibly "broom-clean", this is not cleaning in the usual sense. Then the next tenant has to clean, which is not exactly fair if he arrives at the holiday destination after a long journey. Therefore, the following rule applies: If you should find out that your previous tenant really did not clean properly, please contact us briefly. We will then pay you out of the previous tenant's deposit for your cleaning expenses, namely € per working hour, x 2 for lost holiday enjoyment= €
Since we do not rent out holiday homes commercially, but as private individuals, we would like to protect ourselves from notorious grumblers and complainers who find the famous fly in the ointment everywhere. We don't have the time or inclination to go to court with tenants who want to reduce the rent by 50% because the door squeaks, the tap drips or the neighbour has started the saw to make firewood
We don't want to lose our joy in bringing Sweden closer to other families, so please understand this essay here not as a deterrent, but as a realistic assessment for realistic people
