Description
This 51 sqm cosy cottage ideal for two to three / maximum for four persons is located on the southwest coast at the picturesque Hvalfjörður (Whale Fjord) and is the direct neighbour of our "Villa Fjordview".
This cottage is located only a few metres from the shore of the fjord against a dreamlike backdrop of mountains and sea. A large wind-protected veranda makes it possible to enjoy the magnificent view outside in fine weather
After a bathroom renovation in 2018, "Villa Künstlerblick" has received a newly designed blue and white exterior façade in summer 2019, as 13 years of harsh, Icelandic climate have contributed to the former wooden façade's urgent need for renewal. New material in blue and white colour and improved insulation promise a much longer life and a cosier stay for our dear guests on cold days. The new façade was designed with Iceland's colours by Dominik himself. The rest of the painting work, including that on the large veranda, will follow. To top it all off, Villa Künstlerblick will soon receive the matching roof to complete the overall picture
The flat with its homely wooden house charm is divided into a cosy and lovingly furnished living and dining area with integrated kitchenette, two bedrooms (1 x double bed and 1 x single bed) and a small bathroom with shower and toilet. On the open gallery, which can be reached via a folding ladder, a fourth sleeping accommodation can be used if desired.
The kitchen is very well equipped with dishwasher, many household appliances and crockery, so that cooking is fun even on holiday. You have the possibility to use the washing machine with detergent and dryer free of charge. These are located in a separate annex (technical/laundry room) of "Villa Fjordblick" for common use.
As the two houses are only a few steps away from each other, two families or friends travelling together can also spend their holiday here. Discover the surroundings on joint excursions and end the day with a barbecue in a large group
Free Wi-Fi is available.
The availability of a travel cot, high chair and buggy can be requested at the time of booking. A blanket and pillow with covers required for the travel cot must then be brought along.
Please note that this is a non-smoking house and therefore smoking is not permitted. Animals are also not allowed. Thank you for your understanding!

This cosy country house is located about 45 minutes' drive from the capital Reykjavik on Hvalfjörður (Whale Fjord).
When you turn off the ring road to your holiday destination, Hvalfjörður, you are greeted by a wonderful landscape. Lush green meadows in the summer with grazing Icelandic horses and sheep that like to take over the road from time to time. During the drive, you always have a fantastic view of the water framed by the mountains and blue lupine fields. You cross a narrow bridge that leads over the river Laxá with the Laxáfoss waterfall. You will discover large waterfalls as well as historical sights as you continue to follow the road around the fjord. In winter, you can enjoy an equally beautiful winter landscape
From here you can go on many excursions, to name just a few:
An exploration of the 30 km long Whale Fjord is recommended. For the wonderful sight of the mountains and the sea alone, which constantly shine in new light and colours, whether in winter or summer, are worth a round trip. Countless dreamlike sunsets, rainbows and polar lights have already been marvelled at by our guests
Tough hikers will enjoy a hike with sturdy shoes to the second highest waterfall in Iceland (Glymur) or you can visit the Hallgrímskirkja church in Saurbær, which you can already see on the opposite shore. Afterwards, you can either drive to Akranes with its famous lighthouse, long sandy beach (now with a HotPot) or follow the road to Borgarnes to the land-grabbing centre. The famous waterfalls Hraunfossar ("Lava" waterfall), Barnafossar ("Children's" waterfall) in connection with an "Into the Glacier Tour" at the Langjökull glacier (booking through us) are also very easy to reach from there
Another day trip to the Golden Circle can start directly from Walfjord. Via road 48 there is a direct connection to the Golden Circle route starting with Þingvellir National Park. Afterwards, the other attractions on this route such as the geyser Strokkur and the gigantic waterfall Gullfoss can be marvelled at.
Even the south is within easy reach from here. A day trip to the famous waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss at the foot of the famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier, which brought global air traffic to a standstill with its ash cloud in 2010, would be possible.
You should definitely visit Iceland's capital Reykjavík. This lively city with its cosy restaurants, bars, cafés, quaint fish restaurants at the harbour, the many museums, art and sights will surely invite you more often.
Shopping is best done in the small town of Mosfellsbær, 30 minutes away. There you will find several supermarkets, a bakery, fish shop, bank, post office, pharmacy, restaurants and cafés. The Lágafellslaug swimming pool is an ideal way to end the day. With several geothermal pools, slides and saunas, the little ones and the grown-ups are sure to have a great time. But come and see for yourself!
When you return to the fjord after a day trip, you will realise that you are spending your holiday in one of the most beautiful places in Iceland ;-).

One towel and one bed linen package is provided per registered person The cleaning and laundry fee of 25000 Icelandic Kroner (approx. 180 Euros) included in the rental price is only payable on the day of departure. A travel cot and a high chair can be provided free of charge by arrangement (you must bring your own bed linen, pillow and duvet). Please note: The minimum stay is 5 nights. Except for the period from 17 December to 07 January, it is 7 nights! An arrival/departure on 24.12/25.12./26.12. , as well as on 31.12. and 01.01. is unfortunately not possible! Villa Artist's View
An unforgettable adventure. From snowstorms to 24 degrees below zero, from sunshine to the northern lights. We were able to experience everything. Compliments to the host Dominik, who is always there to help and advise at any time, even on holidays.

Cloud play
The location on the Whale Fjord opens up a new cloud play every morning and evening (if available), romantic sunsets, bird watching and good access to different highlights of Iceland by car. The fjord is also beautiful and a pleasure to drive around. Reykjavik is about 45 minutes away by car.
