Location and surroundings of object

Seapoint Lodge is situated in the Beara Peninsula, in Co. Cork . We are 2 km out of town , with harbour views, within walking distance of Castletownbere - a fishing port the principal town of the Beara Peninsula. We are situated on the Wild Atlantic Way Route and the Beara Way Walking Route is right on our doorstep. In town there is a bank & post office; also restaurants, bars and shops; a seasonal tourist information point; a public library; a Catholic Church and schools. We 're 5 minutes walk from a pebbly beach; 5 minutes by car from town - restaurants and friendly local pubs where you are welcome to join in the music sessions- sing along and join in- sing, play fiddle, flute, guitar or whatever you wish. The harbour and quays are interesting historically and nowadays many species of fish are landed here for both local and mainland European markets. Local restaurants have this delicious fresh fish on their daily menus. Beara is home to varied artists - it makes for a grand day out to visit their studios and galleries - just 8 mins walk from our house you can visit the wonderful Millcove Gallery and Gardens. Dzogchen Beara Buddist Retreat Centre is 15 minutes by car -there they welcome people of all faiths and none, to mediation sessions and various programmes. On your day trips - you will find amazing places to walk, discover standing stones and stone circles and places to swim in the Atlantic Ocean. The colourful local villages make for interesting stops for lunch, etc. and a chance to chat with wonderfully friendly local, people. We are a good starting point for day trips around beautiful West Cork with lovely coastal towns and villages, farmers markets and so many stone circles and ruins. It's possible to be in Co. Kerry by hiking over the hill or by car in 30 minutes, with it's amazing mountains and lakes. Fishing and boat trips, kayaking and canoes are all available here in Beara. We welcome any questions you may have to enable you to have a wonderful vacation, here in Beautiful Beara .

I'm Ann, wife of Teddy , who is a story teller. We both enjoy history, music, walking and reading and cinema. We have lived here all our lives, love the region and we are out and about here all the time -walking and enjoying nature. It is far away from cities and of course we feel the need to go there too from time to time - for theatre and concerts etc. We have hosted guests and guided tours for many years and loved the experiences. Here we have a very relaxed friendly and sociable place - facilitating guests to have fun and to find what they want in this beautiful landscape. We are happy always to help with any questions guests may have and we provide maps and directions to places of interest locally and afar.
