We spent two weeks of wonderful and wonderfully relaxing summer holidays on the former winegrowers' farm of the Maglott family in the quiet and pretty Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu near Mercurey.
The Saône valley with its vineyards rising to the west, the Canal du Centre and the hilly hinterland are, thanks to their rich variety and short distances, ideal for long hiking tours, extended cycling tours on the Voies Vertes and Voies Bleues and for exciting visits to the medieval town centres and the scattered castles.
From the first contact with Mr Maglott, further communication was always extremely cordial and accommodating, as it was after our arrival and throughout the whole holiday. The accommodation as well as the whole property were very clean and well maintained, the equipment plentiful and sufficient for all purposes. An air-conditioning system installed in the bedroom ensured a pleasant and restful sleep even during heat waves.
Mr. Maglott was always available with very helpful and valuable tips and information about hiking tours and sightseeing, which can be found on his website "

What luck that we chose this charming, cozy, clean and well-equipped cottage! Absolutely quiet location and diverse hiking opportunities with magnificent views right outside the door, reachable without a car. It is also easy to reach the bakery in Mercurey by bike (about 15 minutes). Xavier welcomed us very kindly, the rather late arrival was no problem at all, and he also gave us great tips for sightseeing. Thank you for everything!

If you are lucky with the weather, you can even see Mont Blanc from the vineyards above the village in the distance...

Anyone looking for peace, relaxation, and a natural, grown environment will definitely get their money's worth at Xavier's Petit Maison. The cottage is not so small and really offers all the comforts. In the well-equipped and cozy kitchen, we conjured up great dishes almost daily from delicious local ingredients. The fresh herbs from the local garden were the icing on the cake. Xavier is a super sympathetic, warm host with whom it was extremely pleasant to chat. We would love to come back!
