Simply unbelievable

We arrived in Torcigliano after an 8-hour drive, with a dog and a child. It was even more beautiful than the photos here on Ferienhausmiete.de. The cottage is wonderfully nestled in a wooded area on a mountain in a small village. The road up there almost gave me a heart attack every time, but I had a great driver and the more we drove up and down, the easier it became.
The cottage itself was located on a slope surrounded by many olive trees, a meadow with terraces, and a fabulous view. It was extremely lovingly and perfectly furnished. The kitchen had more utensils than at my home, so I made notes of what was missing in my kitchen. The living room was a flight of stairs higher and was extremely comfortably furnished with a couch, TV (German channels), DVD player, many movies, and books. All windows in the house were equipped with mosquito screens. The bed was on a gallery next to the stairs in front of the living room, and it was great to lie in it. The mattress was perfect, and the pillows, which I usually have something to complain about, were really cuddly.
But what rounded off the whole experience was the great landlady. We didn't feel like holiday guests, but we were warmly welcomed by her. She gave us tips for sightseeing, asked us about further wishes, and inquired daily whether everything was to our satisfaction. We had a lot of fun and laughed a lot together, we were on the same wavelength.
When we had to leave after 7 days, a bit of melancholy set in. We had not only found a great place to stay, but also met a great and generous woman. We arrived as strangers and left as friends.
We will gladly come back. Goodbye Claudia.

A wonderful place

We spent 2 weeks in Claudia's fantastic refuge in April.

After Cleopatra's review, it is difficult to add anything else. We can only agree with this and the many other previous positive reviews.

But we would like to highlight:

- the location of Torcigliano, which is a bit remote (with a somewhat challenging approach for us) but perhaps that is why it has preserved its original charm.
- the location of the house, offering tranquility, originality, and untouched nature with many interesting hiking possibilities in the surroundings.
- the numerous cozy spots in the terrace garden for relaxation, where you can find a suitable spot for every time of day. Unfortunately, the weather did not always allow us to enjoy this.
In the house and throughout the garden area, you can feel that Claudia has designed everything with a lot of love and passion (and, of course, with a lot of work).
- and lastly, Claudia herself.
She took very attentive care to make our holiday as pleasant as possible. Her many valuable tips for activities were very helpful. Her humorous, uncomplicated, and natural manner immediately created a friendly atmosphere that we greatly appreciated. We spent several hours together with lots of laughter but also with interesting conversations. We always looked forward to Gisi's (Claudia's dachshund) visits, eagerly collecting her portion of Mortadella from us. :-)

CONCLUSION: Absolutely and wholeheartedly recommended!!
Based on our many positive experiences, we have already booked another holiday with Claudia and are happy to stay in friendly contact with her.

Pure relaxation on a Tuscan vacation

First of all, this beautiful holiday home lives up to all the super positive reviews that have been given before and that convinced us to book. A very nice house on a terraced garden plot and in a very quiet, almost rural location in Torcigliano, far away from any hustle and bustle, lovingly and tastefully furnished and equipped with everything you need and more. We felt it was luxurious. In addition to a TV and sound system, the cozy living room has plenty of books, so you can spend even the rare rainy days very comfortably. For the garden, you should plan a little exploration tour with so many cozy spots. Everything imaginable is also available here: a furnished terrace with a large parasol, a sun lounger with a view of the sea in a more secluded location depending on the time of day, additional loungers and even a garden shower. The main house is suitable for 2-3 people (double bed with a very good mattress + sofa bed), there is also an outbuilding with a bathroom where two more people can sleep. We were two and didn't need the outbuilding. All windows are equipped with solid insect screens, which we greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Claudia, for your hospitality, the extremely useful hiking or cycling route tips, your recommendations for the beach and restaurants, as well as for trips to the surrounding cities. It was very pleasant and we enjoyed getting to know you and your beautiful home, we will gladly come back!

Exceeded all expectations!!!

Actually, I had planned our little round trip a bit differently, but then by chance I came across Claudia's ad and really wanted to go to this place, the photos and the description appealed to me so much. And what can we say now? It is much, much more beautiful! Truly a little paradise!
Away from the masses, yet central if you want to experience something other than walking through the dreamlike little Torcigliano or hiking through the directly adjacent woods, absolutely comfortable and simply beautifully furnished and restored to a high standard.The bathroom is wonderful, in the super kitchen you will find everything you need and on cold days you heat the excellent stove with the wood already provided by Claudia. The garden is a dream, Claudia has created many beautiful corners, each offering a different perspective and mood on and to the scenic surroundings
I can only lose myself in superlatives when thinking about this place and our whole family thanks you, dear Claudia, from the bottom of our hearts for this wonderful time in your dreamlike place!

Ein kleines Paradies

The location of the house is incredible. Located outside the small village, the house allows for a very relaxing time. The view of the mountains and the sea is wonderful and fills me with great peace. The very lovingly designed property offers everyone their favorite spot and a very personal retreat. The diverse plant life and the house's own olive grove are fantastic. It's only a 20-minute drive to the sea. Pietrasanta is a beautiful excursion destination for culture and a nice shopping spree with very unique shops.

Wonderful paradise between mountains, sea, and city life

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quiet, very beautiful house! The hostess provided us with everything every visitor could wish for (fresh food, comfortable loungers, view). The view is fabulous, the proximity to city and sea is dreamlike. A perfect place to relax, unwind, and recharge, but not too far from the hustle and bustle between Pisa and Florence.

I can confirm all previous positive reviews without reservation: the dreamlike location of the lovingly restored property amidst the green hills and olive groves of Tuscany is exceptional and offers the opportunity to enjoy both the beach and the sea, as well as hiking in the mountains and various city tours (Pisa, Lucca, etc.).
The very well-maintained house is individually and tastefully furnished and extremely cozy, with a top-equipped kitchen. The baths are spotlessly clean, and the outdoor shower was a welcome addition in the prevailing high temperatures. On the creatively designed terraces in the beautiful garden with comfortable lounging and seating areas, everyone can find their favorite spot with a view of the valley, the forested mountains, or the sea on the horizon. Culinary wishes are also fulfilled, after a short walk, one can dine lavishly at Mattarello in the village, or enjoy the most delicious tomatoes in the world from the home garden! However, the highlight of the stay was the host Claudia and not to forget her lively and lovable little dog Gisela. The combination is unbeatable, and the care left nothing to be desired. Thank you once again for the unforgettable relaxing days at this wonderful place of peace and relaxation! We will come back!!!

No friendlier Tuscany exists!!

If you are looking for peace and relaxation, yet want to be close to the sea, or explore city tours in Tuscany, go hiking, cycling, etc., then this is the right place. Super clean, super nice, super relaxing. Only the last 500 meters are not suitable for large cars, or the faint-hearted. However, easily accessible by foot. We have already booked again and are looking forward to it.

Tolles Haus für Ruhe-Suchende

The house is very tastefully and lovingly furnished, the kitchen well equipped, everything super clean and well maintained. The huge garden with several terraces and seating and lounging options is also very well maintained. The house is located at the end of a small mountain village situated on a hillside. The approach is quite adventurous, but for us and our two sons (5 and 7 years old) as well as our Jack Russell Terrier, it was the ideal place to find peace and relax. The boys had a lot to discover in the garden. But also worth seeing cities, like Lucca, Pisa, Pietrasanta, are easily accessible. Claudia gave us very helpful tips for excursions in the area and was always available for questions. Also, regarding arrival and departure times, she was very accommodating and uncomplicated. The small restaurant in the village has great food at fair prices and very friendly staff. If you don't come during the height of summer, the area is also great for hiking. It was mostly too hot in July. Claudia also spoiled us with fruits and herbs from her garden. As a souvenir, we took home olive oil from the olive trees in the garden, which we are completely enthusiastic about. If you are looking for peace and at the same time proximity to the sea and interesting cities, and don't mind the drive, you will feel very comfortable in this house.

If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the perfect place for you. Individual holiday home lovingly prepared. A place to linger. If you are looking for culture, sea with a long sandy beach, a beautiful landscape, lovely people, lots of peace and relaxation, many leisure activities (hiking, cycling, climbing), holiday with a view, adventure (drive-up), and good food, this is the right place for you. In the nearby village, you can have a very good dinner. A holiday at Claudia Oswald's in Torcigliano is highly recommended... we will come back!

Three weeks in another world....

Our holiday in Torcigliano has a lasting impact: we are still reveling in memories...

After two days of driving from northern Germany to Tuscany, we were greeted very warmly by Claudia and her dog Gisela. They took us to the house after the last exciting hairpin bends. Claudia's house is an oasis of calm. There is a very special atmosphere, especially in the living room, which we initially used a lot for reading, as the weather was still too cold for the many dreamy terraces. This allowed us to enjoy the cast iron fireplace, which warmed us on the first evenings.

This place is simply perfect for those seeking peace. Nevertheless, places like Lucca, Florence, and Pietrasanta are quickly accessible. And of course, Pisa is worth a visit! The sea, which can be seen from Claudia's house, is also easy and quick to reach. With Claudia's tips, you will immediately know where, for example, the best place is to park. Absolute highlights were the hikes to the mountains, which we were able to do with Claudia. From dense fog, cows we encountered on the mountain, stunning views to excellent sandwiches with Mortadella, we experienced everything. THANK YOU, CLAUDIA!!!! We also enjoyed eating at Il Mattarello in the village. Everything is very delicious there!

The villagers we encountered were all friendly to us. Some of them even took care of our physical well-being by providing us with salads, cherries, cakes, olives, potatoes, and cookies. . . .

Our conclusion: Three weeks are simply too short! :-))

beautiful house in a fantastic location

This property can be recommended without reservation! However, you should be a fan of lots of nature and tranquillity. Since we are, we enjoyed our 2 week stay there very much. We especially liked the garden with many possibilities to linger. You have an unbelievably great view from there! With 4 people, including 2 teenagers, we found the rustic, but very lovingly furnished cottage quite super. Even though the bathroom could only be reached by walking around the house, we didn't find that problematic
As we have already mentioned, the journey to the house is very adventurous.
The contact with Mrs Oswald was great.
The restaurant "Il Mattarello" in the village was a delight on 3 visits.
From Torcigiliano it is easy to get to the many sights and larger towns in Tuscany.

Wonderful holiday with lots of relaxation

We spent 9 wonderful days in the holiday home. As described, the journey was of course adventurous. But after every excursion, we looked forward to the peace and quiet in the cottage. The landlady was also very accommodating. A hiking trip with her brought us closer to the beautiful area. We can recommend the cottage with its many terraces to everyone. In the kitchen you will find every comfort. Even on rainy days there is no boredom in this house, there are enough books to read. Thank you for the beautiful days.

Lots of peace, experiences, and a bit of adventure.....

The last kilometers to Torcilliano are narrow, as is typical in the mountains, and the last 200 meters are even a bit adventurous. We reached it easily with our Skoda Fabia. The last 50 meters must be covered on foot, but that's not a problem. The dedicated and uncomplicated landlady helped with the luggage. The house is really isolated. On narrow paths and trails, one quickly loses the everyday hustle and bustle. Nevertheless, you are in the middle of the action in a 15-20 minute drive. What pleased me a lot was the extensive and high-quality open-air exhibition of sculptures and works of art distributed throughout the city center in Pietrasanta. I was also very pleased with the landlord. She took us on two mountain hikes. We walked along ancient paths with spectacular views where we would have definitely gotten lost on our own. The friendly and obliging nature of the landlord was very pleasant. She gave us many tips and explanations about the life of people in the mountains. (Now I also know how many olives are needed to produce a liter of oil.)
The amenities are good. German television, sea view, many places with seating and lounging options on the property. From shady and intimate to sunny with a view to the sea. Cooking was not a problem. Everything we needed was there. The only slightly bothersome thing is the limited natural light in the rooms. However, in the summer, it remains pleasantly cool because of them. However, one is not in the house so much.
In the town of Torcilliano, there is a good restaurant. It can be reached on foot in a few minutes. Here, the mother cooks. And that's how it tastes. Down-to-earth and yet with a twist. The people in Torcilliano were friendly and sociable. We felt accepted.
Even our dog was welcome. Despite his somewhat moody nature.
In short:
We were very satisfied. Thanks to the location of the house and the remarkable landlady, it wasn't a cookie-cutter vacation.

Insider tip!

Once you have negotiated the serpentines and the last narrow access road in Torcigliano, you are greeted by a beautiful, rustic house on an olive slope. And the holiday can begin.
The house is simply but very tastefully furnished. Claudia Oswald is a very nice, great, attentive but never intrusive hostess. She has an eye for loving details, which is visible everywhere in the house and the garden. The garden with its numerous well-developed terraces and a beautiful view of the valley and the sea on the horizon is simply fantastic
A hiking trail leads directly in front of the house, the starting point of a first small hiking tour. We gladly accepted Claudia's offer to take us on another hiking tour. A great day with exciting landscapes and views that we probably wouldn't have discovered on our own
In case of bad weather: Lucca and Pisa are not far, even Florence can be reached quickly. Portovenere in the north should not be missed either. In good weather: the beach south of Viareggio (25min away) is just perfect. Especially for our Labbi a paradise. But our dog was also enthusiastic about the mountain walks...;-)
If you are planning an all-inclusive holiday, you should go somewhere else. If you love nature and prefer the rustic charm of a Tuscan country house, Claudia's house is the perfect place for you. A real insider tip!

Natur pur

Our expectations were more than exceeded here. The location of the house is simply a dream. The house is very nicely furnished and lacks nothing. Even at temperatures around 30°, the many trees in the beautifully landscaped garden provide shade. This way, you can simply relax and enjoy the scents of the herbs. The very friendly landlady also gave us one or the other tip for excursions. Mountains, sea, and good food. What more does one need :)
Unfortunately, one week was far too short.

Peace and relaxation

I had to escape the everyday stress once and ended up here. This is the best thing that could have happened to me. A wonderfully beautiful olive grove with a very nice house that is very comfortably furnished. I felt like in paradise. The host herself is super nice and open-minded and showed me some beautiful corners in Tuscany that I would never have seen otherwise. It was cold, but still beautiful. I will definitely come back in the summer or autumn. I can highly recommend it and give it a full 5 stars. Keep it up.

Super relaxing retreat in the Tuscan countryside.

The Rustico is lovingly maintained and beautifully situated in an olive grove. On the day of our arrival, we immediately felt comfortable and enjoyed the dreamy peace and view.
It is ideally located for excursions to Lucca and Pisa or the Cinque Terre. Alternatively, you can relax wonderfully on the beach of Camaiore.
Overall, a perfect vacation spot and highly recommended!
