secluded beautiful location (although plenty of mosquitoes), good starting point

It was a nice vacation in the beautifully furnished holiday home that had everything. Only the relatively many mosquitoes, including inside the house, and the high humidity outside and inside (possibly weather-related) were a bit problematic. A very good starting point (by car) for excursions, a very nice landlady.

perfect for workation

In the mill, you can really unwind. I was there with my girls for a workation. It worked very well! Thanks to the large facility and the different rooms, we were able to hold parallel meetings (5) and jump into the pool during lunch break. In the afternoons, we were able to go surfing (about 50 minutes away). Communication with the landlords is also excellent! However, I would recommend having a car.

schönes, ruhiges Ambiente, viel Platz

Die Unterkunft besteht aus zwei separaten Gebäuden, die zum Beispiel sehr gut von einer Familie mit Kindern oder zwei Paaren genutzt werden kann. Von hier bieten sich viele Tagesausflüge an, in die Pyrenäen, San Sebastian oder an die direkte Atlantikküste (ca. 50 Minuten). Um Poullion herum gibt es zahlreiche Wanderwege. Wir können die Mühle sehr empfehlen, vor allem wenn man eine gewisse Abgeschiedenheit in einem ländlichen Umfeld schätzt. Die Ausstattung mit Küchenutensilien ist recht gut. Weder Fernseher noch W-Lan sind vorhanden. Es ist ratsam, die Raumluftentfeuchter zu benutzen, da es wegen des Bachlaufes und der Wände immer etwas feucht sein kann. Das Grundstück ist schön groß mit einem kleinen Bananenwäldchen, störende Nachbarn gibt es nicht. Besonders hervorzuheben war die gute, schnelle und unkomplizierte Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter und die hilfreichen Tipps.

Holiday in the mill

The only complaint about our stay was that it didn't last longer! The mill is in a very idyllic location, with a large and beautiful garden and surrounded by cornfields. You have peace and quiet, but also a good base for exploring surrounding towns as well as the beach and Pyrenees. Everything was pleasantly uncomplicated and you notice that the mill is taken care of. The mill is well equipped and has character; in times of impersonal AirBNBs, we were particularly pleased about that. We will be happy to come back!

First class

Simply switch off, get away from the big city and enjoy pure nature. Once you arrive at the mill, you go back in time to the Middle Ages. The old mill with its millstones, the small stream that runs directly under the old millhouse and the rustic furnishings immerse you in the life of the past. The complex offers everything you need. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need (dishwasher of course), the terrace and the rustic lounge offer a nice atmosphere for great evenings together (cheese and wine from the region are recommended). The small star restaurant in Pouillion also offers the possibility of a great meal if you don't want to cook. The bakery and supermarket are 5 minutes away by car.

Important: If you expect a sterile flat here, you are wrong. The mill is in the middle of nature, which means that there may be the odd animal. You have to be able to cope with that;)

All in all, we had an incredible time and will come back as soon as possible.

Authentic idyll for nature lovers

The mill is something for lovers. Whoever feels the charm and magic of the property and the buildings will fall in love with this almost enchanted place. Those who seek upscale comfort and a certain sterility may sometimes despair here... We had two fantastically beautiful weeks in Pouillon and on the magnificent Atlantic with children of all ages and felt very comfortable and at home in the very personal, lovingly and individually furnished mill and the beautiful HUGE property. We will definitely come back!

Relaxed 3 weeks in a dream location

We spent a great 3 weeks as a family of four! The grounds are very large, not overlooked, very quiet and yet only a few minutes drive from the bakery, supermarket, petrol station, bank, etc. The hilly layout of the grounds is particularly beautiful, for example with banana trees, so that you have a nice view of the grounds and the surrounding cornfields or trees from the terrace table shaded by umbrellas. The pool is large, easy to maintain and a hit in hot weather. Due to its location, despite the very hot summer of 2018, the grounds and the whole area were green. In the Landes, Bearn and Basque Country triangle, there is a lot to see. The roads there are easy to drive. The bustling coast is about 50 km away; the markets in Peyrehorade or Salies-de-Bearn are only 20-30 minutes away. On the highway towards Pau or Biarritz, it takes about 20 minutes. So the mill is a very good starting point for all kinds of activities. But we also spent relaxing days on the grounds themselves. In the spacious and cozy mill building, we spent a few game nights when it was raining. We will certainly remember the relaxed weeks for a long time...

Charaktervolle Mitmach-Idylle

Die Mühle liegt abgeschieden und trotzdem in Ortsnähe, so hat man (mit dem Auto) alles Nötige in Reichweite und kann trotzdem absolute Ruhe und jede Menge Platz genießen. Ob in großer Gruppe oder nur zu zweit spielt dabei keine Rolle.
Aus den alten Gebäuden haben die Besitzer eine großzügige, perfekt eingerichtete Ferienidylle gestaltet, in der es an nichts fehlt (hervorzuheben die überaus reichhaltige Küchenausstattung!), in der aber der Charme der alten Gebäude erhalten geblieben ist. Dazu gehört auch die eine oder andere sympathische Improvisation oder Unzulänglichkeit, die man sonst in einer modernen, sterilen Ferienhausanlage so vielleicht nicht hinnehmen würde - hier gehört das einfach dazu.
Man sollte sich auch darüber im Klaren sein, dass das etwas ungewöhnliche Betriebsmodell durchaus von einer gewissen "Mitmach-Verpflichtung" lebt. Wer es hier selber schön hatte, sollte seinen Teil zur Pflege und Erhaltung beitragen wollen und können und diesen Zustand natürlich auch für die nächsten Gäste wieder herstellen.
Die Mühle ist eigentlich für jede Form der Urlaubsgestaltung geeignet. Wer einfach nur ausspannen und die Ruhe genießen will, ist hier ebenso richtig wie jemand, der das Quartier als Basislager für die weiträumige Erkundung von Südwestfankreich nutzen mag. In "Schlagdistanz" liegen die ganze südliche Atlantikküste bis nach Spanien hinein, die westlichen Pyrenäen mit dem Baskenland, die alten Regionen des Béarn und der Gascogne. Strand, Wald, Wein, Städte, Berge, Flüsse und vieles mehr. Ein paar unserer "Geheimtipps": ein Besuch bei d'Artagnan in Lupiac und bei Henry IV. in Pau, der Cirque de Gavarnie und (für Radsportfans) ein Abstecher zum Col du Tourmalet, die Grotten und Heiligtümer von Bétharram, die Strände von Biarritz.
Alles in allem war dies für uns ein unkomplizierter, äußerst entspannender und wahnsinnig interessanter Urlaub, zu dem das perfekte Quartier einen ganz wesentlichen Teil beigetragen hat.

Traumhaft Idyllische Mühle

Unser Urlaub zu zweit war total entspannend! Alles ist da, was wir benötigt haben (Wasch- und Spülmaschine, alle Küchenutensilien, Kamin). Das Grundstück ist sehr groß und der Pool toll zum Erfrischen! Supermarkt und Bäckerei sind mit dem Auto 5 Minuten entfernt. Ein Auto wird für den Urlaub auf jeden Fall gebraucht. Ein Geheimtipp ist der Bauernmarkt in Pouillon jeden Freitagnachmittag. Zu empfehlen ist auch ein Tagestrip nach Biarritz und San Sebastian.
Wir kommen sehr gerne nächstes Jahr wieder!

Die Seele baumeln lassen

...das kann man hier besonders gut!

Wir sind zum 2. Mal zu Besuch in der Mühle und sie ist als Feriendomizil für die ganze Familie (oder auch für zwei, die man locker in den zwei Gebäuden -Mühle und Grange- unterbringt) wie geschaffen. Kinder haben genug Platz zum Spielen und Baden oder, wenn sie etwas größer sind, die Möglichkeit die Gegend zu erkunden. Also ist auch ein Tag, an dem keine weiteren Aktivitäten geplant sind, herrlich entspannt.

Ansonsten sind die zahlreichen, langen, feinsandigen (und beaufsichtigten) Strände mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen (ca. 45 min) und man nimmt auf der Fahrt noch etwas von der schönen Landschaft mit. Ohne Auto geht es wirklich nicht, dafür sind die Städte Dax, Bayonne, Biarritz oder Saint-Jean-de-Luz einen Abstecher wert und auch ein Besuch in den Pyrenäen ist empfehlenswert.

Die Mühle ist liebevoll eingerichtet und verbreitet viel Charme. Für Urlauber, die es gerne authentisch haben, genau richtig und fernab von Standard-Ferienhäusern. Daneben sind die Vermieter auch noch supernett!

Es ist alles da (von Waschmaschine bis Grill) und wer seinen Café au lait gerne mit Espresso trinkt, nimmt (wie wir) seine kleine Espressokanne einfach mit :-) ... und die Flip Flops nicht vergessen (der Rasen ist morgens und abends, egal wie warm es ist, immer feucht)!

Des vacances très agréables en perspectives ...und wir kommen sehr, sehr gerne wieder!

Eine Perle in Frankreich

empfelenswert, etwas abgelegen, darum Auto ein muss, viel Ruhe, Entspannung, aber auch alles genug nah für Besichtigungen, Erlebnis und Kultur. Beide Häuser gut ausgestattet, alles was man braucht, inclusive willkommen Gruss.
