It was a nice vacation in the beautifully furnished holiday home that had everything. Only the relatively many mosquitoes, including inside the house, and the high humidity outside and inside (possibly weather-related) were a bit problematic. A very good starting point (by car) for excursions, a very nice landlady.

perfect for workation

In the mill, you can really unwind. I was there with my girls for a workation. It worked very well! Thanks to the large facility and the different rooms, we were able to hold parallel meetings (5) and jump into the pool during lunch break. In the afternoons, we were able to go surfing (about 50 minutes away). Communication with the landlords is also excellent! However, I would recommend having a car.

beautiful, quiet atmosphere, plenty of space

The accommodation consists of two separate buildings, which can be very well used by a family with children or two couples, for example. From here, many day trips are possible to the Pyrenees, San Sebastian, or the direct Atlantic coast (about 50 minutes). There are numerous hiking trails around Poullion. We can highly recommend the mill, especially if you appreciate a certain seclusion in a rural setting. The equipment with kitchen utensils is quite good. Neither television nor W-LAN are available. It is advisable to use the room dehumidifiers, as it can always be a bit damp due to the stream and the walls. The property is quite spacious with a small banana grove, no disturbing neighbors. Particularly noteworthy was the good, fast, and straightforward communication with the landlord and the helpful tips.

Holiday in the mill

The only complaint about our stay was that it didn't last longer! The mill is in a very idyllic location, with a large and beautiful garden and surrounded by cornfields. You have peace and quiet, but also a good base for exploring surrounding towns as well as the beach and Pyrenees. Everything was pleasantly uncomplicated and you notice that the mill is taken care of. The mill is well equipped and has character; in times of impersonal AirBNBs, we were particularly pleased about that. We will be happy to come back!

First class

Simply switch off, get away from the big city and enjoy pure nature. Once you arrive at the mill, you go back in time to the Middle Ages. The old mill with its millstones, the small stream that runs directly under the old millhouse and the rustic furnishings immerse you in the life of the past. The complex offers everything you need. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need (dishwasher of course), the terrace and the rustic lounge offer a nice atmosphere for great evenings together (cheese and wine from the region are recommended). The small star restaurant in Pouillion also offers the possibility of a great meal if you don't want to cook. The bakery and supermarket are 5 minutes away by car.

Important: If you expect a sterile flat here, you are wrong. The mill is in the middle of nature, which means that there may be the odd animal. You have to be able to cope with that;)

All in all, we had an incredible time and will come back as soon as possible.

Authentic idyll for nature lovers

The mill is something for lovers. Whoever feels the charm and magic of the property and the buildings will fall in love with this almost enchanted place. Those who seek upscale comfort and a certain sterility may sometimes despair here... We had two fantastically beautiful weeks in Pouillon and on the magnificent Atlantic with children of all ages and felt very comfortable and at home in the very personal, lovingly and individually furnished mill and the beautiful HUGE property. We will definitely come back!

Relaxed 3 weeks in a dream location

We spent a great 3 weeks as a family of four! The grounds are very large, not overlooked, very quiet and yet only a few minutes drive from the bakery, supermarket, petrol station, bank, etc. The hilly layout of the grounds is particularly beautiful, for example with banana trees, so that you have a nice view of the grounds and the surrounding cornfields or trees from the terrace table shaded by umbrellas. The pool is large, easy to maintain and a hit in hot weather. Due to its location, despite the very hot summer of 2018, the grounds and the whole area were green. In the Landes, Bearn and Basque Country triangle, there is a lot to see. The roads there are easy to drive. The bustling coast is about 50 km away; the markets in Peyrehorade or Salies-de-Bearn are only 20-30 minutes away. On the highway towards Pau or Biarritz, it takes about 20 minutes. So the mill is a very good starting point for all kinds of activities. But we also spent relaxing days on the grounds themselves. In the spacious and cozy mill building, we spent a few game nights when it was raining. We will certainly remember the relaxed weeks for a long time...

Charaktervolle Mitmach-Idylle

The mill is secluded and yet close to the village, so you have everything you need within reach (by car) and can still enjoy absolute peace and plenty of space. Whether in a large group or just as a couple, it doesn't matter. The owners have created a spacious, perfectly furnished holiday idyll from the old buildings, where nothing is missing (notably the extremely well-equipped kitchen!), but the charm of the old buildings has been preserved. This also includes the occasional sympathetic improvisation or inadequacy that one might not normally tolerate in a modern, sterile holiday home complex - but here it just belongs. One should also be aware that this somewhat unusual business model is based on a certain "participation obligation." If you had a good time here, you should be willing and able to contribute to the maintenance and preservation and, of course, restore this condition for the next guests. The mill is actually suitable for any form of vacation. Whether you just want to relax and enjoy the peace, or use the accommodation as a base camp for exploring a wide area of southwestern France. In "Striking Distance" you have the entire southern Atlantic coast up to Spain, the western Pyrenees with the Basque Country, the old regions of Béarn and Gascony. Beaches, forests, vineyards, cities, mountains, rivers, and much more. A few of our "insider tips": a visit to d'Artagnan in Lupiac and to Henry IV in Pau, the Cirque de Gavarnie and (for cycling fans) a detour to Col du Tourmalet, the caves and shrines of Bétharram, the beaches of Biarritz. All in all, this was a straightforward, extremely relaxing, and incredibly interesting vacation for us, to which the perfect accommodations made a significant contribution.

Dreamily idyllic mill

Our holiday for two was totally relaxing! Everything we needed was there (washing machine, dishwasher, all kitchen utensils, fireplace). The property is very large and the pool is great for refreshing! Supermarket and bakery are a 5-minute drive away. A car is definitely needed for the holiday. A hidden gem is the farmers' market in Pouillon every Friday afternoon. Also recommended is a day trip to Biarritz and San Sebastian.
We would love to come back next year!

Let your soul dangle

...that's something you can do particularly well here!

We are visiting the mill for the second time, and it is the perfect holiday home for the whole family (or for two people, easily accommodated in the two buildings - mill and grange). Children have plenty of space to play and swim or, if they are a bit older, the opportunity to explore the area. So even on a day when no further activities are planned, it's wonderfully relaxing. Otherwise, the numerous, long, fine sandy (and supervised) beaches can be easily reached by car (approx. 45 minutes) and you can enjoy the beautiful landscape on the way there. It really doesn't work without a car, but the cities of Dax, Bayonne, Biarritz, or Saint-Jean-de-Luz are worth a detour and a visit to the Pyrenees is recommended.

The mill is lovingly furnished and exudes a lot of charm. For holidaymakers who like it authentic, just right and far from standard holiday homes. Moreover, the landlords are super nice! Everything is there (from washing machine to grill) and for those who like their café au lait with espresso, just take (like us) your little espresso pot with you :-) . . . and don't forget the flip flops (the lawn is always damp in the morning and evening, no matter how warm it is)!

Looking forward to a very pleasant vacation . . . and we will gladly come back very, very soon!

Eine Perle in Frankreich

Recommended, somewhat remote, so a car is a must, lots of peace, relaxation, but also everything close enough for sightseeing, experiences, and culture. Both houses are well equipped, everything you need, including a welcome greeting.
