Description
Haus Entennest combines original Canadian wooden architecture with cosy European living culture. It has a lovingly furnished open-plan living and dining area on the ground floor, a computer desk with Wi-Fi internet connection and, in addition to gas heating, the warm atmosphere of a wood-burning stove. It has a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious bathroom with bath/shower combination, sink, toilet and gas instantaneous water heater. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms with 3 extra-long single beds.
Outside, a covered terrace with picnic table and barbecue as well as deck chairs and a hammock between two large cedars invite you to relax in the midst of nature.
Our own bathing spot in the crystal clear river offers pure refreshment after an eventful day.

Location and surroundings of object
House Duck's Nest is located in the Slocan Valley of BC's West Kootenays. Because of its scenic beauty and the individuality of its inhabitants, the valley is also called the "Shangri-La" of BC. Fortunately, it has hardly been discovered by the large streams of tourists.
Our 500 m long driveway takes the visitor into a world of tranquillity in the midst of nature. The property is bordered by a branch of the Slocan River and the wilderness of a beaver island on the water side with direct access to the Rail Trail on the other side.
Beavers shape the river landscape right outside the front door, kingfishers, Canada geese and bald eagles breed here, hummingbirds buzz through the summer flower gardens, deer roam the forest completely unafraid of humans, skunks go on their way, and every now and then a black bear leaves its tracks.
Haus Entennest is the ideal starting point to discover the country and its people, the history and nature of the mountain and water world in eventful day tours.
