Location and surroundings of object
The fishing village Ditzum was founded in the 8th century as a Langwarft village and has retained the character of a picturesque sluice and fishing village. The focal point of Ditzum is the still functioning sluice structure, today unique in East Frisia, with the harbor opening funnel-shaped towards the Ems. The sluice structure and harbor define the entire village's appearance. The village of Ditzum was awarded the title of "National Village of the Year" on 05. May 2012. In May 1995, as the first municipality in the entire district of Leer, it was recognized as a state-recognized resort. (Municipality of Jemgum)
Due to its remote location in the northwesternmost corner of the Rheiderland, it is also known as Endje van de Welt. Its sluice port, with centuries-old continuity and one of the last functioning sluices, is unique in East Frisia. The historical context of the terp settlement with windmill, Romanesque church and church tower in the form of a lighthouse (1846), as well as harbor and internal drainage through the Sieltief with its chicken bridge, is still comprehensible and significant today. This distinguishes the place from similarly structured terp locations in the Lower Ems region, which often lost their original Siel harbor function due to dyke realignments. The Ems ferry stationed in Ditzum to the Emden district of Petkum is the last remaining Ems ferry on East Frisian soil. (Wikipedia)

Lovingly furnished holiday home in a quiet yet central location, ideal for relaxing and unwinding.
If you want to relax and recuperate properly, you're in the right place! The lovingly furnished house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac and impresses with its Nordic flair. The terrace is private and equipped with high-quality furniture, inviting you to linger. The new kitchen leaves nothing to be desired, so we often had breakfast in the cozy dining area. Overall, we found the house exactly as depicted in the photos on the website. In the immediate vicinity, there is a sluice where we watched the anglers and had fun canoeing. In just a few minutes on foot, one can reach the beautiful harbor of Ditzum with nice restaurants, cafés, and an ice cream parlor that is definitely worth a visit. We particularly enjoyed our fried fish on the terrace of the Fischhaus Ditzum with a view of the harbor. We would love to come back anytime!
