Description

Welcome to the green heart of Germany, the low mountain range Kyffhäuser, south of the Harz in the former GDR.
The area is characterised by a varied cultural landscape, bright sunny weather and little rainfall.
Our authentic half-timbered house is located in this beautiful area. It is a former farmhouse with a charming courtyard with garden and several sitting areas. A babbling brook with bathing ducks and geese runs along the property and through the village.

The house has been restored in style, with modern and comfortable furnishings. The artist Duve van Boggelen has taken care of the furnishings. Unique works of art by various artists, both on the walls and in the form of sculptures, create a particularly inspiring atmosphere in the house.
The living area on the ground floor consists of a living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway and toilet.
Something special is the covered entrance area, where you can enjoy the sun from the first to the last ray.

Via the staircase you reach the hallway, the bathroom and 3 bedrooms on the first floor. The attic is not used. In total there is 120 sqm of living space. Besides the actual living space there are several outbuildings.
The house is situated on a plot of approx. 300 sqm. On the whole, it has a nostalgic feel that will take you back to grandmother times. Authentic elements, such as an old bath for water games and the former pigsty with trough have been preserved. A covered terrace with a passage to the stream was built from a barn. There is a small terrace for evening sun in the sitting hollow.
The courtyard offers children a safe playground, families for example a pleasant barbecue area. A large part of the property is paved and can also be used for parking the car if needed.
WLAN is available.
In combination with the house "Blaue Sperling", groups of up to 15 people (plus baby) can find charming holiday accommodation here.

Location and surroundings of object

Our house is located in the quiet village of Steinthaleben in the Kyffhäuser district. The smaller villages around are Kelbra, Bendeleben, Rottleben and Badra.
The larger towns within a 15-30 minute drive are Sondershausen, Bad Frankenhausen and Stolberg.
Interesting cities such as Erfurt, Weimar and Leipzig are within a radius of about 1 hour. Dresden can be visited as part of a day trip despite being somewhat further away.
There are many interesting sights in the immediate vicinity, ranging from the Barbarossa Cave to a residential castle or a thermal spa with Region has a long history. It was often the backdrop as a battlefield of princes and emperors. A multitude of citadels still testify to this today. The landscape bears much resemblance to areas like Morvan in France. Hilly, mixed forests, varied vegetation and lots of old footpaths and hiking trails between villages and across fields. The villages and towns take you back to old times with their half-timbered houses and narrow streets. Steinthaleben is a small, manageable and authentic village in the magnificent Kyffhäuser Nature Park, where you can still feel the past. A place where countless wagon tracks and sandy paths along orchards, hills and streams offer adventure and where you can find pleasant peace at night under impressive starry skies.

The village of Steinthaleben (population 524) lies on the south-western edge of the Kyffhäuser Nature Park. The entire western part of this small, forested low mountain range belongs to the area of the municipality. About 518 hectares to the south and west of the village are used for agriculture. The highest elevation in the Steinthaleben district is the Kulpenberg at 473.4 m above sea level. Despite the small catchment area of Steinthaleben, the supply level is good. In the village there is a small supermarket, two butchers, the "Grüner See" inn and an ice cream parlour with a bistro. Besides homemade ice cream, you can have a good and simple meal in the ice cream parlour. On Wednesdays, a baker comes to the inn in the village. You can find out about the exact times at the inn. You can also buy bread at the supermarket if you get there in time (by ). Bread rolls are also available from the butcher Wendorff. The butcher's meat products and cold cuts can be recommended. In addition to these entrepreneurs, who specialise in the life of the people here, the village also has a blacksmith (restoration of the old moving tractors), Friesenhof, mineral and gemstone shop and a supplier of floating tripods.

One week in the mini village in Thuringia

Our week in this beautiful farmhouse was very relaxing. The house has charm and character. You can start various hikes directly from the house, observe many water birds (various species of ducks, geese and divers, cranes during the migration season) at the neighbouring reservoir. In the immediate vicinity there are many very well prepared exhibitions and museums for people interested in history. Nice little towns can be reached quickly by car. The on-site support by Mrs. Pilz was very nice and personal. We were here with 4 adults, 1 toddler and 1 dog and everyone enjoyed it very much. For children a paradise with a great yard and inside with lots of toys. If we are in the area again, we will come here again.

recommend for: adventure and experience, holiday with children, holiday with pet, cultural and sightseeing holiday

Beautiful turn of the year 2010/2011 in the snowy village

After our first stay in summer 2009, we now got to know Steinthaleben and the surrounding area in winter. We enjoyed the turn of the year as a foursome (2 couples). We are thrilled with the house, as it has been restored with a lot of love and many small details (many works of art).We felt very comfortable and were very satisfied with the accommodation and the service. It is a place where you can let your soul dangle. The nature, the seclusion, the primitive appealed to us very much.In the house itself, there is nothing missing and you feel very comfortable!!! It will not have been our last stay there and we would like to recommend the holiday home to others. A big thank you to the Kunsthaus DAVIDU - that is to say to the landlords, who were also personally available to us!!!

recommend for: seniors, holiday with children, holiday with pet, cultural and sightseeing holiday, romantic holiday

Schönes stilvolles altes Haus in sehr ruhigem Dorf

Sehr schönes altes Haus in sehr ruhigem Dorf.

recommend for: cultural and sightseeing holiday

Mr. D. Van Boggelen

We, Duve van Boggelen and Vincent Drost, have been the proud owners of this former farmhouse in this fantastic setting since August 2008. We were immediately impressed by the pleasant atmosphere that the house and garden exude. During the renovation, we made sure to keep as many details as possible in their original state. We have worked with the material that does justice to the house and the architectural style.
