Our very spacious Hoogstede holiday home is located in the picturesque Vechtedal between forests and extensive farmland. Surrounded by extensive cycle paths and beautiful hiking opportunities, you will find nature, peace, space and entertainment with us. Our nature house is located in Germany just over the border in Coevorden (10 km) and Hardenberg (30 km) and a few hundred metres from the river De Vechte on the edge of the town of Hoogstede.
Our holiday home is located on the outskirts of Hoogstede in the hamlet of Tinholt. Between the fields and many trees, we have managed to create our own place where nature still takes its own course. There is a good chance that you will see deer, hares and pheasants running across the islands. The rural area offers many opportunities for (family) recreation such as hiking, cycling, inline skating. There are also many private grounds with playground equipment and a trampoline. In bad weather, playing and outside is also possible via a roof.

Geographical location
Hoogstede lies northwest of Nordhorn on the border with the Netherlands. The Vechte flows through the village, and the tributary Lee joins it here. The municipality belongs to the Emlichheim joint municipality, which has its administrative centre in the municipality of Emlichheim.
The nature reserves Neuringer Wiesen, Vechte-Altarm Kalle and Moorververlandungsgebiet Tinholt are located in the municipality of Hoogstede.

History
The earliest documented reference to the Hoogstede district of Scheerhorn is found in 1209 in a document of Count Balduin von Bentheim
The history of Hoogstede begins in 1821, when the chapel of the Protestant Reformed parish was moved from Arkel to Hoogstede. in 1859, the Catholic church was built, and gradually a village centre developed. in 1953 the Protestant Old Reformed church was built, and in 1961 the Lutheran church.
In 1938, Emsland Camp XIV was established to the east of Bathorn. It functioned as a prison camp for prisoners of justice and was designed for 1000 people. After the outbreak of the Second World War, the Wehrkreiskommando VI Westfalen (Münster) took over the facility as a crew camp (Stalag VI C) for prisoners of war. The branch camps (Stalag VI C/Z) Groß Hesepe (Emslandlager XI), Dalum (Emslandlager XII), Wietmarschen (Emslandlager XIII) and Alexisdorf (Emslandlager XV) were subordinated to it. In May 1942, Stalag VI B Neu-Versen/Emsland, including its branch camps Oberlangen, Wesuwe and Fullen, was subordinated to the main camp Bathorn. Prisoners of war from France, Belgium, Italy, Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union were housed there. The mortality rate in the Bathorn camp was relatively low compared to other POW camps. On 5 April 1945, the camp was liberated by the Canadian military
On 9 December 1968, the municipality of Hoogstede-Bathorn was renamed Hoogstede
In 2009, on the occasion of the celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the first documentary mention, the chronicle of the municipality of Hoogstede was published by the Heimatverein Hoogstede-Arkel.
Today, about 2900 people live in Hoogstede and its districts.
