The Holiday flat

Comfortable holiday apartment with swimming pool (5m set-up pool, in high season) near the French Atlantic coast (18 min.) on the edge of the small village of Champagne. Good space for 2-4 persons. Pets are welcome, 1 bedroom (double bed), 1 bed-sit room with double bed, 1 bunk bed for two persons in d. kitchen, bathroom with shower and toilet, second sep. toilet with outside access, kitchen, satellite TV (HD - German, French, others), liquid gas central heating

Former farmhouse (main building from 1860) with lots of space, very large courtyard garden, adjacent large pasture, 5 m round swimming pool with (almost) chemical-free, skin-friendly UV disinfection, terrace, exclusive small garden directly in front of the entrance, completely enclosed (wall), many possibilities to play (basketball, football, table tennis), toddler swing and slide. Numerous excursion possibilities: Marennes 15 min, Royan 25 min, Ile d'Oléron 30 min, Rochefort 12 min, La Rochelle 40 min

We have planted some bushes, trees, flowers - nevertheless the garden is left "wild" in large parts to provide habitat for native insects and birds, especially bees. This is especially true for the large (5000 m2) pasture behind the hangar, but also around the house there is no meticulously "tidy" garden. So do not expect a "Little Versailles" - but observe biodiversity in reality!

Location and surroundings of object

The house is from 1860 and we have tried to keep the character of the old farmhouse as much as possible. Nevertheless, there is of course modern comfort, such as sanitary facilities, heating and kitchen equipment. It was also our aim to offer a house that is not directly in the hustle and bustle of moonlit beach resorts, but that lets you enjoy the tranquility of French country life. But the sea is not far - after 18 minutes you are at a dreamy sandy beach with mud flats, after 15 minutes at the bay of Marennes, after 35 minutes in the (turbulent) La Palmyre or at the beautiful beaches of the Ile d'Oléron. And for errands and demanding shopping, the way to Rochefort (12 min.) and La Rochelle (40 min.) on well constructed country roads is not far away. Champagne is a small, friendly village with 500 inhabitants, whose enchanting silhouette with the old Romanesque church can be seen directly from the house. There is a very good baker in the village - otherwise you can get everything else in the neighbouring Pont l'Abbé (2.5 km).

After a holiday in La Palmyre (about 30 minutes from the house) we have come to appreciate the Charente-Maritime. The climate is mild, but not yet tropically warm - and the entire region is not overcrowded by tourists, but still a certain insider tip. When we then discovered the beautiful estate "Le Péré", the decision was quickly made to "settle" here. With a few renovations and improvements, a very individually designed, beautiful property has been created in the meantime, which has preserved much of its old features and still offers contemporary comfort. And since we cannot always be there, we would like to share it with you.
