Description
The "Red Castle" was built as a workers' house for the former glassworks. The floor plan of the flat was retained, only the kitchen was divided into a bathroom and a small kitchenette. The rooms were completely renovated, partly laid with new floorboards and provided with central heating. At the same time, the tiled stove in the living room has been kept in working order to provide its special cosiness in the colder months of the year
The kitchen has a two-burner induction cooker and a refrigerator with freezer compartment as well as a microwave oven. The rooms are furnished in a rustic and elegant style.
We have deliberately dispensed with a television in order to make the everyday character of our village more tangible. WLAN is available, however, so that you are not cut off from the "outside world".
The entrance to the house is right next to the flat door, so there is no need to walk through private areas.
Parking space is available in our courtyard. Garden furniture is at your disposal.
We are happy to provide you - on advance order - with breakfast rolls from a small bakery that still produces its own goods, and with milk, yoghurt or curd from Jersey cattle from a neighbouring village, all in natural quality without raping the product.

Location and surroundings of object
Glashütte is located in the middle of the pine and mixed forests of the Baruther Urstromtal. It was established as a manufacturing and residential site from 1716 onwards in order to make good use of the broken wood from a heavy storm. The factory was active until 1980 and then fell into a slumber. After 1990, the village, now listed as a whole, was revived as a place of arts and crafts, nature and culture. Today, the imposing hut building - also from 1861 - houses a museum on the subject including a glass studio where handicraft glass products are made.
The architecture of the village consists largely of buildings from the period up to 1861, and this and its location in meadows and forests make for its unique idyll. The Red Castle with its guest flat is located on the western edge of the village, the forest grows right up to the property. During the day you can experience a lot in the village and in the surrounding Fläming and Dahmeland, to listen to the whispering nature in the evening and relax under the deep dark night sky.

Charming holiday flat with nostalgic flair
Charming holiday flat with nostalgic flair in a historic building, idyllically and quietly located in the museum village of Baruther Glashütte - a small but nice destination for a weekend trip, there is a lot to see and hike, a few culinary delicacies to try and gems to buy (definitely take a look at the glass art studio of Olaf Gonzalez-Valero)
We felt very comfortable and well looked after in our accommodation in the "red castle", many thanks to Mr Straatmann, who, as already pointed out in the previous reviews, really cares for his guests. Absolutely recommended!

ideal for those in need of rest or for excursionists to the Spreewald or Berlin
We felt very comfortable in this holiday flat for 14 days. The furniture is overwhelmingly old, very pretty and lovingly put together. As you would expect in a museum village. I personally found the lamps quite charming. There is also a tiled stove, which we were allowed to use. Garden furniture with a parasol was also available especially for us in the garden. The bathroom is modern and relatively spacious, which we liked very much. The kitchen is more for people who don't want to cook at lunchtime. But it still works with a little good will. We would especially like to emphasise the friendliness and caring attitude of our host, Mr Straatmann. If anything is needed, he gets it very quickly. He was also always happy to have a nice chat. We deducted a star for the minimalist kitchen (somewhat uncomfortable to use) and the windows, which could hardly be opened due to the original old construction.

We spent a wonderfully relaxing weekend in the cosy, tastefully furnished holiday flat. The accommodation is ideal for 3-4 people, there were three of us and we were able to spend cosy hours in the holiday flat.
Mr Straatmann was a great host. He provided us with information about the village and the history of the house as well as information about the surroundings
Thank you very much for the pleasant stay!
