Description

Former flour mill, then electricity power mill and now a country house located on the banks of the river L'isle in the Dordogne with gardens of over 6000 square metres. For up to 10 visitors, this is an ideal location to return to nature and catch first class naturly ionized air.
Make excursions to historic castles, caves with 18,000 year old animal drawings, original and still accessible to people. The local markets attract not only from food gourmets from Paris, the exquisite foie gras, truffles and other culinary delights are known world wide.
The ground floor has spectacular views of the river and waterfall and the surrounding woods with enormous elegant trees. Storks can be viewed catching fish from an armchair if you sit still enough so that they don't see you.
The first floor has three bedrooms.
1. A double bed with ensuite bathroom with shower and bidet, it has a double bed and a view of the weir.
2. A double bed and two single beds, a view of the river and gardens to the south.
3. A double bed with view of the eastern garden with walk-in cupboard and desk for writing.

An open landing has access to 3 WCs. The ensuite bathroom with bidet, toilet and large shower with a step up to it, another bathroom with double sinks and bath with bathshower and a toilet. The other WC has one high toilet.

The top floor is an open plan with sloping ceiling. There are three sections with dormer windows and a total of 4 single beds.
Views of the stars while lying in bed is a luxury city dwellers just don't know about. Here you can see the stars clearly due to the clean air and especially the lack of lighting anywhere near this location. Many visitors have seen the milky way for the first time and are amazed at what they have been missing their whole lives.

On the ground floor there are comfortable leather armchairs for 6 adults. Further there are 3 banks for 8 people and single chairs for two tables which accommodate eight people and six comfortably. There is a large woodstove set in the fireplace. A library with books in mostly English, French and some German. A DVD player and large screen for viewing films. Presently no TV channels are accessible but glass fibre internet has been ordered and will be installed shortly. A very powerful stereo system with speakers not just inside but also outside on the veranda. Inputs can be from guests' phones or music sources.
The kitchen has a gas cooker with four rings, gas oven, electric water boiler, large sink, large fridge with freezer section, a variety of kitchen utensils, and cutlery and cooking pots and pans for up to ten guests. A microwave, toaster, washing machine, dishwasher and large ricecooker and pots for lots of hungry people.

Location and surroundings of object

Situated on the edge of a vast forest, but only five minutes from 5 major supermarkets by car, this country house converted from a centuries-old mill on a geological fault of 560 million years ago is the place to escape from your stressed and hectic life. The naturally formed weir was used by millers hundreds of years ago and the site is close to hundreds of other castles and landmarks. The wildlife around the gardens with butterflies, birds of prey, kingfishers, deer and a variety of other rare animals can be observed in their natural habitat.
Set in over 6000m of garden, the house is self catering and with a locally provided fishing license and some wine, this is the place to retreat to for some inner peace. Hiking, mountain biking, local beaches, water skiing, or star gazing at the local observatory or visiting towns such as Perigueux with many well kept Roman sites keep most people happy and golf, tennis and horse riding are also not far from the door.

additional information:

Known as 'Water-Mill' there are hundreds of additional photos on the flickr site, showing images of not just the house and grounds but also many of the interesting sites which are all within an hour's drive of the mill.
There are wifi modems giving guests access to internet both inside and outside the house, so that you can sit in the garden or fish in the river while remaining in touch with friends around the world. Youtube films and skype or other services can be accessed so that you can let others see you as you land a fresh trout or spot a rare buzzard flying high above the trees.
A swing for children is in place and also a playpen for toddlers can be arranged with sand for those who are not yet allowed to go wandering themselves.
Visitors with dogs are unfortunately not yet accommodated, but other pets may be welcome if these are registered with the owner.
Amounts of gold greater than 1 gram found in the river Isle should be reported. This river has for centuries been an important source for precious metals and courses are given to visitors who wish to try panning themselves. It is rare that someone takes this course without finding anything. Titanium and rubies are not difficult to find, but the course is essential or getting the correct equipment and technique for coming home with a good find.
