Description
The cottage "La Garrigue" is situated on a huge estate stretching across more than 17,000 sqm and is therefor very suitable to allow children to behave freely - though open fire is strictly forbidden. Scattered across the landscape are some neighbouring houses, sufficiently far off to experience real silence and tranquillity. After all, the next house is about 80 m and the country road approximately 500 m away. Built in the late 1970s, it isn't very young anymore but it is nevertheless equipped with modern building services (heating, air conditioning, washing machine and refrigeration). There are 2 bedrooms, one with its own sink and each equipped with a double bed and separate mattresses. In the living room there is a convertible sofa, suitable to accommodate 2 further persons. All necessary kitchenware and household aids and appliances are available, as well as spices and cleansers.

Location and surroundings of object
From the village Siran a narrow winding road (D 56) leads to the "Curiosité de l'Auriole". After 5,5 km, just behind the Curiosité, an unpaved path turns into the scrubland called garrigue, the typical vegetation of the Languedoc. Here the cottage "La Garrigue" is waiting for you with a stunning view of the Minervois and the Corbières, down to the Pyrenees.
Siran, a picturesque wine village with 700 inhabitants is situated at the foot of the Montagne Noire. Apart from a bakery, a grocery store and a post office, you can find here 3 restaurants. 5 km away, there is a big lake, where swimming and windsurfing are possible. It's the same distance to the supermarkets. The surroundings are known as the Land of the Cathares with its splendid monuments as Quéribus, Peyrepertuse and many others more. It is not far to the Pyrenees and to Spain, Barcelona is reached in a 3 hours ride. Trips to Minerve (after which the Minervois is named, 10 km) and to the world cultural heritage sites Canal du Midi (15 km) and the Cité of Carcassonne (35 km) are considered as a must.

A wonderful place to seek and find peace and relaxation
We spent 4 wonderful weeks in this house with 3 senior citizens. The house is very quietly situated on a huge property in the middle of the "Domaine Garrigue". The equipment of the house
was good and nothing was missing. The friendly and sympathetic owner was always available by phone and helpful with any questions. Apart from small excursions into the extraordinary landscape and mountains of the surrounding area, we mainly relaxed as it was very hot
In the evenings, on the terrace, we could experience thunderstorms with wonderful weather lightning. We, as seniors, had a very good time there and would, if we stay healthy and fit, visit "La Garrigue" again

Natur pur
We spent 3 beautiful weeks in La Garrigue. The house is located, as described, in the middle of nature. Ideal for people looking for peace and wanting to unwind.
The beautiful view of the valley and the pool make the holiday even more enjoyable. Everything is available in the house. The host is always available for questions.
It was very interesting for us to observe the behavior of diverse insects. One should plan their shopping well, as the stores are not just around the corner.
It was a beautiful vacation.

This house impresses with a good description of the approach and the furnishings. After 40 years of holiday home experience mostly in France, we can say that this house is worth a trip. The equipment of the household works very well.

The house is a good base for excursions to the cultural cities of the Cathars. I recommend the book "Land of the Cathars" by MSM-editions.fr
- Although the nearest bakery is 5 km away in the valley, it is worth going there. It has an organic concept and very good croissants. Still real artisan tradition and quality without baking mix. In addition, there are good value restaurants nearby and on the de Midi.
The winegrowers in the area are to be recommended ( Siran, Oupia, Liviniere).
But there are also very well-stocked supermarkets and the associated petrol stations
If possible, fill up as soon as you get there!!!
You shouldn't miss the Dolmen des Fades: a gallery tomb dating from about 3500 years before Christ in the middle of the vineyards near Siran.
And if you want to refresh yourself from the hot weather, there is a cute pool with a view of the mountains. The house can be kept cool even in the hottest weather if you close the shutters in time.

Sensational panorama, tranquility and many possibilities
We spent 2 relaxing weeks on vacation in La Garrigue with a couple of friends from Berlin. If anything was missing, we found it in the house. The view is unique, the pool refreshing, and there are many opportunities to experience nature in the surroundings. The many cuckoo calls are part of the house.
Our highlight was Minerve with the Canons of Cesse and Brian. The boulangerie in the alleys of Siran makes buying baguette and croissant an experience.
The use of the telephone and internet upon request is comfortable. The tips for using everything are good and helpful, so you can get along well without the presence of the landlord. And if there is still a question left: a call is enough.
So: Recommendation!!!

Wonderful holiday home in a wonderful location
A preliminary note:
I assess the holiday home based on the very subjective expectations that the description on the internet has aroused in me. And since these expectations were completely met or exceeded, I give the full score.
With my family, we have been vacationing in holiday homes and apartments for many years, and here, for the first time, I did not make a list of things to bring from home next time because they were not available in the house. Nothing was missing here. Everything was there.
The owner was easily accessible for any questions and also very nice and helpful.
As described, the house is very quiet, with a magnificent view of the valley. The terrace is perfect for outdoor dining and the pool is great for taking a dip. You can get baguettes for breakfast in the village (about 6km away), self-caterers will find vegetables, fruits, cheese, and wine at the local markets, in the supermarket in Olonzac (12km) or in the hypermarkets popular in France.
We spent the two weeks mainly reading and chatting, but the area is also great for cycling, walks, or hikes. It takes about an hour to drive to the nearest beach. Carcassonne, Béziers, Nîmes are recommended for sightseeing or museum visits, and Sète is always worth a visit.

Pure relaxation!
A beautiful landscape, perfectly suitable for all activities. The house leaves nothing to be desired. No neighbors in the immediate vicinity, pure tranquility.
The contact with the landlord went smoothly - he is also very helpful.
It was a great vacation and our passion - motorcycle riding - had no limits in this wonderful area.
