Description
In the middle of our olive grove, you can find two ecolodges. Each has a private ‘cool tub’ and a hammock on the terrace where you can enjoy the views over the mountains. The ecolodges are built to optimally enjoy outdoor living. But inside, you will find a warm and welcoming atmosphere too.
Equipment:
1 bedroom with a double bed (160 x 200). In the living room is a sofa bed (160 x 200)
The kitchen is equipped with: pots, pans, crockery, etc. oven, gas ring, refrigerator and coffee maker
Each terrace has its own private 'cool tub', hammock and grill
Internet via satellite (free)
Air conditioning is optional (€ 0,75 per Kwh)
Bath towels and bed linen are ready for you
The ecolodges is in the middle of 'the greenery' and less than a 5 minute drive from the sea
The first morning we offer you a real 'Kalyvitis breakfast' (with eggs from our chickens, honey from our bees, homemade jam, goat cheese, fruit and homemade bread)

Location and surroundings of object
Kalyvitis is an idyllic spot in south-east Crete. It is surrounded by olive groves and 5 minutes' drive from the sea with numerous small beaches and coves. The nearest village with shops and restaurants is Koutsouras (4 km away).

Kalyvitis is based on ecotourism. Besides producing our own olive oil, we also make goat cheeses and honey. We have goats and chickens in our olive grove. And further away in the mountains are our beehives. The ecolodges are completly self-sufficient of electricity. With sunpanels and batteries the lodges produce their own power.

In 2008, we, Heidi (Dutch) and Manu (French), left the Netherlands to start a new adventure. We quit our jobs and sold everything before setting off in a campervan to destination unknown. After several months of travelling, we ended up on the island of Crete. There we bought a plot of land with olive trees and started building our own. After four months of hard work, our house was finished and we found that we had fallen in love with our place amidst the olive trees. We were captivated by the mountains, the climate, the clear blue sea but also the pure, simple life of the Cretans around us. It is a simple life, a life close to nature, but precisely this has a luxury that we are so attracted to. With this idea, we started our concept Kalyvitis. For those who want to take a break from fast-paced modern society, to literally see, hear, feel, smell and taste pure nature again.
